hambone, I find it funny that every argument you've given so far to support macro evolution is in fact MICRO evolution, something which Rev and I will both agree exists. But I'd like you to show me a true example of macro evolution..... tell me how the monkey became the man, give me fossil records, give me real life examples.....oh and don't bother using that nice pretty little picture in your science textbook about the evolution of monkey to man, because, as of circa 1973, every one of those examples was scientifically disproved.... (strange that it's still in textbooks today and taught as fact eh?) another question, if I (being an overweight 21 year old male) decided to train my body to be a runner, and I trained and gained muscle and lung capacity, would my children tend to be chubby or fit? They would be chubby unless I made them work, the fact that I would be fit would not transfer to my children because it's not what's in my DNA. well said linch, but I don't think we want to start another argument. Besides (as of right now) the existence or non-existence of life on other planets (sentient life that is) can't be proven or disproven *EDIT* yes I realize what I said about aliens does sound odd, but it was said wrong. It's not that I don't believe in them because the Bible doesn't mention them, because linch would be right, I'd hafta not believe in Coffee. I don't believe in them because I don't believe in Evolution and without Evolution it would take a Divine act to have other sentient life on planets and if that were the case, God probably would have mentioned something like "Oh, btw, you have some cousins in another galaxy that might come visit you in about 20,000 years" sorry I didn't expound in the beginning *EDIT 2* btw Hambone, the English version of the Bible specifically says "from the dust of the ground" meaning we translated like crap, it says it came from the ground, not dust of the air (which is where skin particles float about and the dust that we think of as dust comes from) and why hasn't anyone said anything about my 2 Biblical scientific explanations?

I was just wondering if anyone here was or knows a Satanist, or someone who practices Wicca and/or other forms of witchcraft (hope that's not a "non-pc" word, ) I was just wondering because we've yet to have someone on these boards say this and I'd like to know the base beliefs of these religions (especially Satanism since it's in direct confrontation with Christianity)

Mossad, that's exactly why they weren't included. They disagreed with the already established word of God so therefore they couldnt' BE the word of God and I have no clue why I'm still awake, it's 4:30 here.... linch, I don't believe in Sentient life on other planets, because the Bible says nothing about it.....

I'm sure someone sometime will bash, but this forum largely follows the rest of the Mmmm community, which is respect. Of all the religious discussion groups on the internet that include pretty much every religion (though we've yet to have a satanist in here, that might be interesting) this is by far the best group of ppl I know.

quick question Hambone. You are aware that though C.S. Lewis was a firm disbeliever in God in his early life, he became a Christian in his later life and refuted (right word?) all his previous beliefs, you know that right? maybe you meant to say that and I just misread your post. have you ever read Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis? it's a good book, although the third part does get a little strange. but we're all allowed odd views aren't we? that's why I believe I will one day own microsoft.... *EDIT* on the subject of the Baptism thing. Baptising a baby has the same spiritual equivalent as me eating a banana on a tuesday afternoon, which is nothing.... Baptism is just a representation of our heart and shows to others that we believe in God. It's basically a tradition that has no spiritual significance, though others will disagree with me I'm sure....those are my beliefs.

you can't neccessarily say that they know "the book" better than anyone. Because of the 3 types you mentioned(preachers, priests, revs) you have 3 similar but still largely different beliefs. Now assuming that only one of them is correct about their beliefs (since that's the essence of absolutes) then you have 2 that appear to know "the book" through and through and are actually largely wrong. I find it very frustrating that so many ppl in this world claim to be Christians and have absolutely no idea what Christianity is. Those ppl give everyone else a bad name. Have you ever been playing Counter-Strike and your girlfriend/wife/mother/grandmother/old lady next door says something to you like "Take out the trash and then clear the moldy leftovers out of the fridge" and you hear every single word they said, but still have no clue of the meaning of those words put together because you're so engrossed in something else? Yeah, that's how probably 40% of "Christians" are. They go through church their entire life and never actually listen, only hear. Those ppl make me angry on such a large level. sorry that turned into a venting post didn't it?

well put FatGuy, and an exceptional point. the only thing I have against curse words is that it will cause some to look down on me, and most who I am around don't want to hear it. It's as simple as that. I don't believe it's a sin, just pointless. btw, I also view Political Correctness to be pointless.....I find it offensive that if I call someone the n-bomb I'm being insulting, when I call someone black I'm coming borderline to insulting. But no one has ever called me a Caucasian Male or European American. I firmly believe that racism will NEVER leave this world, but holding it on a pedastal; even a pedastal of wrongness, it's only going to make it worse. I'm human....you're human......we're all human.....that's that.

just read this and found it interesting I find it funny that even Darwin said that there could be a Creator of matter and possibly a few cells and germs, THEN evolution starts. The funniest part about this whole debate is that 98% of this world has no clue why they believe what they do. At least Hambone, Zweih and Rev know why they believe it. I'm just getting to the point in my life where I want to know why I believe. Because even though no one wants to admit it, we are all indoctrinated from birth to believe as our parents believe. I'm not saying my parents aren't right, I'm just saying I want to know WHY.

I'll attempt to help Rev out here, though I'm far from scholarly..... first I'll state my beliefs. 1. I believe in a God who sent his son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for my sins so that I would be forgiven. 2. I therefore believe in Creation. 3. I believe that Evolution and Creation are both completely disprovable. Both are based on Faith, mainly because we were not there in the beginning and will never be 100% positive of what happened. The thing I find most intriguing about Evolution and uneducated to mostly educated ppl backing evolution is this: Science and scientists themselves call it the "Theory of Evolution". THEORY, Science hasn't proven Evolution and since science can't prove or disprove God and there are really no other views about the origins of the earth (save aliens implanting the earth with species, which is close to Creation anyway isn't it?), the majority of the world backs Evolution as fact. In fact most Scientists believe it to be fact because they have 2 choices, Creation or Evolution. If you don't believe in God, you can't believe in Creation. Therefore the logical choice is Evolution correct? But they still can't prove it. I equate the entire debate to this: You give me 1 monkey. I'll put him at a keyboard and let him start tapping away. 100 years later, he produces the Gettysburg address word for word, no mistakes. That's Evolution. Creation is this. You give me a monkey, and I put him at a keyboard and start moving his fingers over the right keys and hitting them for him. 10 minutes later, you've got the Gettysburg address. I really probably shouldn't get into this debate since I believe that I cannot prove Creation to you unless you believe in God in the first place. And you can't prove Evolution to me because I DO believe in God. (At least the God of the Bible, since there are other religions that back evolution). Here is a quote from the Bible for you though. Genesis 9:4 Only you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood. I find it interesting that such an antiquated novel could have such a profound scientific fact in it (that blood is the life of flesh) when our modern scientific world didn't realize this fact until the 1300's (not sure of exact time) here are 2 more Job 26:7-8 7 He stretches out the north over the void, and hangs the earth upon nothing. 8 He binds up the waters in his thick clouds, and the cloud is not rent under them. "hangs the earth upon nothing" - i.e. Space "binds up the waters in his thick clouds, and the cloud is not rent under them." - i.e. The fact that clouds hold moisture(rain) all of these things are in the old testament also. WAAAAY back in the day.... I hope I might have shed some light upon things, but probably didn't....

I'm one of those guys that really can't stand the ppl that run this country and most of the ppl that live in this country.....but today even I felt some patriotism I was driving through my hometown and everywhere I looked there were american flags on buildings.....EVERYWHERE then on the highway there were 3 guys standing on an overpass waving a huge american flag right over the highway.... actually brought tears to my eyes

I had one of my most fun CS experiences on oilrig just the other night so I have a newfound love of the map... I was at a lan and no one was playing CS except me and 2 n00bs (they weren't to shabby either for their first time) and oilrig comes up and it was a 2CT on 1T (me)....there were some hilarious times. One round I popped up in the middle of them in a dark room on accident and for like 30 seconds we were all doing intricate figure 8 patterns and firing blindly, the VIP ran out of ammo and finally the other guy got a lucky hit with his n00b cannon right in the head so they won that round.... another time I sniped the VIP 5 feet from the chopper... then another time I took out the guard from behind as they were running for the chopper and the VIP kept firing at me and he ran out of ammo, then I empty my clip on my mp5 and then my clip on my pistol all as he's running straight for the chopper, so I pull out my knife and attempt to run him down. He went up the ramp from the bottom and I jumped up the side and swiped him twice with my knife 1 foot from the chopper and I won.... then another time I thought I'd be dumb and only use a pistol so I didn't buy a rifle or anything and I forgot to buy extra ammo for my pistol....so as we're fighting right at the chopper again I ran out of bullets on the pistol, I had already killed the other guy and accidentally ran over his gun and unloaded on the VIP (on accident again) and killed him as he was running up the ramp again.... there were so many close saves on that ramp that game....I was laughing so hard sometimes I couldn't see the screen... to their credit the newbs got pretty good that night, they never took the same way twice in a row and ended up killing me 20 times....

yeah, if you zoom in to the building up above ground zero you can realize how HUGE it is.......there is a flag and a banner up there that take up about 3 stories apiece......and you can't see them until you get close......
