  1. Make sure your cables are tight in the back of your hard drive and the motherboard and make sure you have no cd's in the drives or floppies in the disk drive. insert your windows cd and boot to it and try to repair the problem. If it won't recognise the HDD (and it did before) you may have a dead hard drive. If it never recognised it you may have any number of problems. Jumpers set wrong on the hdd, bios needs to have the boot settings changed(especially asus). If you just installed a new piece of hardware try unplugging it. There are of course more prolific computer nerds on here so if these don't work they will have to give you more advice.
  2. here is the one I have and it works great http://store.yahoo.com/justdeals/wgr614na.html Plus it's $30 with shipping included and no dumb rebates to send off for.
  3. Don't lie you know you're only wanting to look at porn
  4. Sorry I'm a moron this was supposed to be in the first post lol http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...08310&CatId=167
  5. I just got this and it's awesome, even at Doom 3 and HL2. I can't tell the difference between the picture of this and my CRT except the screen is a little crisper with the colors. Anyway I just wanted to pass on this deal to you guys. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...08310&CatId=167
  6. Good enough explanation thanks. I am prolly going with OCZ when I upgrade due to the fact that it's the RAM in my machine now. But thanks for the info.
  7. I'm just trying to understand some stuff about RAM memory and was wondering if someone could give a laymans explanation for the 2.5-4-4 or 3-3-3 or whatever. Anyway thanks in advance.
  8. Sounds to me like a graphics issue. Try first making sure your Video Drivers are up to date then play with some of the video settings. If this doesn't work try pooring the left over spoiled eggnog into the back of your monitor while chanting there is no place like home wearing your mother's high heals.
  9. I'm trying to get hold of a pastor friend of mine that has a copy (the software company said no to a new disk unless I purchase it for like $39.99 and that's dumb) hopefully that will work out.
  10. I'm just paranoid that I will be unable to use this Bible program that I have called Libronix. I can't afford to repurchase it and my install disk is shot (cyclical redundancy error crap) but I am having some issues that come from too much install/uninstall action and want to get a fresh install. Oh well might just have to bite the bullet and lose it
  11. I was wondering if it was possible to completely format the system files and leave everything else, like you could with windows 98.
  12. Fully updated, tried reinstalling twice, newest ATI drivers, tried tweaking all my Graphic settings plus messed with all my Direct X stuff. Even installed this patch made for fixing the problem and it did nothing. Oh well I guess I'll give it up unless someone has another idea.

  14. Mine actually idles at 32 - 35 C and goes up to around 40c under full load depending on weather. It went up to almost 50c when I was at the LAN where we were in a garage with no A/C. I use Asus Probe that came with my MB
  15. yeah, I never got into the multiplayer aspect of the game but it's a fun single player mission to run through. I actually think it has to do with service pack 2 on Win XP Pro because of the problems with SP2 and the Direct X stuff. I found a ton of sites that had that listed as the reason for my game not working. Oh well Guess I'll just have to wait till I get Halo2 when it is released on PC
  16. rofl I think he meant to say "What is the program or hardware used to monitor your temperture"
  17. reformat? lol Everything elkse works except halo so it's not worth the time and effort of downloading the updates on my 56k connection to reformat for one game.
  18. I get this error with dxdiag "Dxdiag has detected that there may have been a problem accessing Directshow the last time this program was used. Would you like to bypass DirectShowthis time?" If you select no it gives me this error " Runtime error! Program: C\Windows\System32\dxdiag.exe Abnormal program termination" If you select yes it seems to fully function but I think this must be where my problem lyes. Any suggestions???
  19. I get this error : "A Problem occured initializing Direct3D. Hardware acceleration maybe disabled, please run DXDIAG." I updated to the most recent ATI drivers and the newest Halo patch with no help. I was just hoping someone here would have a clue. I am running Windows XP Pro (fully updated) I have an ati 9600xt 256mb card and like I said it's the newest drivers. Any ideas?
  20. One thing to be sure of is the response time. Anything under 16ms is pretty good and anything 12 or under is comparable to CRT (imo) http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...62559&CatId=170
  21. Yep nothing quite as nice as a clean install
  22. In my opinion your best performance booster would come by upgrading your ram to another 512 ( total of a Gig) or higher. It's amazing how big of a difference comes from that switch. Also if you are looking for a PCI-e card go to the refurb section of Newegg's website. People who should be on the short bus are buying them left and right unaware that they can't use em in thier current PCs lo then they get an RMA and pay a 15% restock fee.
  23. Fed-ex doesn't care about expected ship dates, once they get it to the warehouse they ship it out. If Fed-ex is over loaded (same with ups) then they slow down. New-egg is only responsible for stuff till it gets to Fed-ex after that if there is a slowdown it's the shippers issue.
  24. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...86153&CatId=167 This one is a great deal for a 16ms LCD or this one is even cheaper http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...19192&CatId=167 I have never heard of the brand though. Hope this helps
