    Bday!

Belated thanks to all. Had a great birthday. Wife surprised me with a new 19" widescreen LCD. Guess she was trying to tell me I don't game enough. Perfect timing too since my work load is dying down and I actually have time to play now. Double win!
  3. Santa Hats II up & running. Have fun. It's a mutator so just turn off and on as you please. I'm in the wind as off this Saturday. Be back after New Year's. Have a safe holiday all. That'd be sweeeeet!
  4. HO HO NO! Tried getting them to work before I left for vacation on Saturday. No luck. No errors or anything. Just no hats. Until I found SantaHats II. Woot! Currently on Temerity. They'll be in once the server gets empty.
  5. Was that a Wentz post? I thought he had a noob PC and couldn't do anything super leet like surf the interweb.
  6. Instead of working on finishing a project that is due in 4 hours I decided to look up Gears of War on IGN.com. Game came out earlier but I kept forgetting to look up gameplay vids. IGN has some HD gameplay vids. IGN Insider came with my comcast upgrade (atleast comcast upgrade was good for something). I felt like sharing these with you guys. Hopefully this will boost your hopes for UT2K7! About the vids, WOW! So set to 1280x720 and enjoy. EDIT: VIDS REMOVED Also check out the Console Forum and see what GC 360 owners are saying. I'll keep the vids up for atleast the weekend.

    Heroes

NBC keeps the last episode online the week it airs. There are still commercials but not too bad if you only missed the end. Heroes Full Episode at NBC For those that don't have other ways of procuring a copy of the last episode.
  8. My current portable solution is AMS Venus external enclosure and 500gig Seagate. If you don't need it portable, and have an old system laying around just turn it into a network drive. Hide it behind a desk & hook up to a router. My oldest comp is doing that job with 512MB Ram & 10/100 nic and about 1TB (3 Seagate 320s) for only $0.25/gig.
  9. As of 5:15PM... Looks like the box or net (SCK down as well)
  10. Unreal Tournament 2007 PC preorder up on Walmart.com for release 01/05/2007 at $49.82. May just be speculation on Walmart's part but this is the 1st I have seen it from a major store. There have always been small online stores have been throughing up preorders with wildly differing release dates.
  11. If ya can wait a week, the x1900xt 256 will be out on 14th or so at about $280. Check out Tom's Hardware article on x1950xtx, x1950 crossfire, & x1900xt 256. x1900xt 256 is a nice value. I do like that cooler on the HIS (similar to x1950xtx's).
  12. You'll be happy with both those Zalman's. Have both working great here.
  13. For single core, the processor M2 recommended is the way to go. Extra $50-$150, gets you a dual core. If you decide to go the ASRock Dual route then you need 939 processor now & DDR Ram. When you buy the daughter card later on, then you would need to buy an AM2 processor & DDR2 Ram. Can't mix & match the ram with the different sockets. If you wanted to go AM2 & DDR2 right now, then using the ASRock Dual isn't best way to go. Better off getting a AM2 board with AM2 CPU, DDR2 ram, & decent PCI-E card. Yeah more specs on your power supply & ram would help.
  14. It would be tight for $400 but doable. Here is a 939 mobo option for you that will let you keep your current vid card. ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 Has AGP & PCI-E slots. That way you can hold onto your 9700 for a bit longer until you spring for a PCI-E vid card. Down the road you can get a daughter card for the mobo to support AM2 & DDR2 which does give it a longer upgrade life. Not the most elegant solution but works. If you decide to drop the money on a new PCI-E vid card, then skip the ASRock 939Dual and just get a good AM2 mobo.
  15. Yeah I am having a tough time resisting that deal. I just rebuilt the HTPC, Student loan rates up, & Mrs. HW just bought her first car. So I guess I will have to hide my credit cards.
  16. Sorry Mags. Not compatible. If you are looking for decent gaming options for AGP under $200, it is pretty much just the x800 xt. In terms of price/performance though, it might be better to hold off and save up on new system (mobo, cpu, ram, etc).
  17. These are the cards Dell is using for its SLI setups. Here are some specs Specs from dell
  18. Nice tip Preacher. Didn't even think about that... From the manual: "DIMMs with more than 18 chips are not supported." "DIMMs with more than 8 devices on each side of the module are not supported."
  19. Huge PL. Noticed on both SCK (6pm) and ours (Midnight). Bareable at 6pm, but on Nep at midnight it got so bad I couldn't grab a weapons locker. Sometimes if PL hit after I died, I couldn't respawn for about 10secs. Really nasty.
  20. Nope only 3 dimm slots on that board. My HTPC has that board with a 2500 Barton and 2 512's. Some Notes: You can get it to run with 3 dimms but it is very picky. You may not get all 3 to play together. It would be best if all your modules were from same manufacturer and CAS. Just so you know, in terms of performance, you would be better off with 2 identical 512's to run dual channel. That said... Try this... Going from CPU left to right the dimm slots are A2, A1, B1. Put 512 in B1 (furthest from CPU) Put 256's in other 2. If you were to try 2 512's, then they would go in the A1 & B1 - leaving the closest to the CPU empty. Hope this helps.
  21. Do you know your motherboard model number? That pic is of a NF4 Lanparty which I think is Socket 939. Your XP 1900+ is Socket A. My first guess, would be that the one slot by itself is one channel and the other 2 slots are another channel. Try putting the 512 in the slot by itself and the 2 256's in the other slots. Need exact motherboard model number to really diagnose.
