  1. Do we have any "Mozart makes you smarter" fans? I have to say in all honesty...I listen to classical music. Yes it's true... ...When I listen to classical music my mood changes, I feel relaxed, and rejuvenated. One of my favorite composers is Giovanni Palestrina. He mainly wrote music for the Roman Catholic Church around 1560. I started to take interest in his work after playing some of his shorter compositions in band.
  2. I think this song sounds great, I just do not know what the song is saying. It goes along perfectly with the show's intro as well. So... anyone able to translate this? http://www.thecomputerninja.info/videos/Japanese_Song.wmv

    Animusic

I saw a promo for Animusic on public TV. If you're not familiar with it, Animusic is animated instruments playing themselves. Each music video has different instruments, which makes each song unique. Animusic isn't advertised on TV, other than PBS I believe, so here is the Animusic website.
  4. I've been listening to them off and on for a while, but recently I got really interested in one of their songs. Keine Lust is a great song, and the music video is a riot to watch. I don't know the German language, so it's difficult to understand what they are saying. On the other hand, this is hard-core metal so I guess it dosn't matter what they are saying, Rammstein just sounds awsome.
  5. here is my band's website which finally has a song up. the song is me with my acoustic guitar, on the spot improvising and making up, and my counter strike microphone. enjoy myspace.com/toxicangersyndrome
  6. Yay for streaming media! Also for those who who maybe aren't familiar with Nine Inch Nails, language advisory. http://www.myspace.com/ninofficial
  7. I was in our schools music program for nine years along with bullet-4o1. I'm in college now, and I have NO TIME to be in band...It's dissapointing in many ways. I miss the people, the trips, and the fun times that will never happen again. Perhaps the thing I miss most is being apart of a great group of friends and colleagues whose main goal was to be the best musicians they could ever be.
  8. Now I am NOT saying they're bad musicians whatsoever, to make this topic clear. But would you consider them a Punk band anymore? To me calling someone from MTV or mainstream a "Punk" band is a joke. Punk was made to be anti-mainstream and was made against the popularity thing. Once a "punk" band crosses that line it's over. So can anyone tell me why they're still called Punk and not give me a reason like "it's good shut up."
  9. I know this has been posted before but I've searched through a few posts and couldn't find it. I'm looking for a site that you can enter a band's name and then the site would show you bands that are similar + samples of their songs. I tried a couple of sites and they were okay but the bands they said were similar to Alice in Chains sucked lol. Thanks for any help.
  10. Out of my 2 threads in here, i know there were a few people who really enjoyed my megaman mixes, and i wanted to let you guys know that i just finished up a brand new one.. I've spent like 2 months on it - so theres some heavy work involved here, and if any of you all wanna check it out.. feel encouraged to do so This is probably one of my best remixes i've ever done. ----------------------------------- http://kwix.shackspace.com/http://kwix.sha...oticDescent.mp3 <-- the link to the song http://www.vgmix.com/song_view.php?song_id=5537 <-- vgmix mirror
  11. Has anyone went to kwix's oober1337 music page yet? I did and its awsome, listening to some of his remixes especially the mega man 2 one sure did bring back memories of my youth. Not that i'm that old, but I am old enough to wish I was young again. Anyways, if ur into old video game music, its worth a visit =) <3 the double dragon one too, jeeez were those much better times!! Thanks kwix for bringin back the good ol dayz!!!

    Tatu

Anyone heard of them? I first listend to one of their songs "Not Gonna Get Us" on the Pubmasters video. Someone told me they we a controversial group?? I can thank Bullet for getting my hooked on their music...he plays that song at least five times a day.
  13. Vovik

    Prodigy

I've been a fan of these guys since mid 90s, looked them up couple days ago.....they released a new album last year. It's called 'Always Outnumbered Never Outgunned' which is a nice theme for these forums I thought. Yeah, so that's what I'm listening to.
  14. That's right, folks. Those of us in the Western world will be pleased to know that Mr. David Gilmour will be crossing the ocean to visit once more. For we Torontonians, that entails a stop at Massey Hall on April 9th and 10th. Tickets go on sale in three weeks. I am so freaking stoked I could cry... ...not that I worship the man, or anything - I could probably shake his hand and have a lovely civilized conversation. It's just nice to get this good news this morning, when I thought that hopping on the plane to England for the G8 may have been my last chance to see him live. Don't get your hopes up too high, though - Massey's floor seats are entirely reserved for $400 premium travellers. The first balcony is the closest unreserved seating, and it won't last long.
  15. Ive had my Sony Disc man for going on 7-8 years. And its with held a lot of abuse. It still sounds great but I want to move on. Im going back to college soon and I cant be away to long from my music. And I dont want to carry with me a cd bundle. So.... I want to spend between $130 - $225. And I know that a lot of players of that cost have at least a gig on board. For capacity Iam looking for at least a gig. Ive been looking at a Philips HDD082 with a 2 gig at $130ish. And then I saw the Philips GoGear 6gb at $200ish. That last one caught my eye coz it looks sweet. Apart from the cost and capacity. Im looking for a player that can fit in my pocket easy. I like the shape and design of the ones above. Also I want one that organizes your playlist into albums, artist and genre etc. Ive seen some without that. Im just thinking that those over a gig would have something like that. Ive heard nothing about the Philips players apart from poor navigation. Ive heard good things about the iRiver. And some bad stuff over ipod's batteries. Creative 'I would like to know more'. Just one more thing Ive noticed about mp3 players. Some people Ive talked to think there is a difference between the ipod and others. That an ipod is an ipod and an mp3 player is an mp3 player. And you tell them its just a brand thing. But the only player ive ever seen advertised is the ipod. Their marketing of the ipod has branded it so good. I dont know why we dont see more of the others. at_thedrivethru out!!!
  16. General J

    DJ's

I know we have a couple of guys who DJ on here. Anyone got any suggestions for a cheaper set of turntables and a mixer for starting out. I am not looking to get into anything professional. This is simply for my enjoyment. I have played the drums for about 9 years now, and really enjoy break beat and fusion/acid jazz stuff, so this seems like a fun thing to mess around with. Looking for decent equipment that has a reliable history. Looking to search on ebay for some used stuff. Thanks!
  17. If you're sleeping...then wake up and check out Damian Marley's new album Welcome to Jamrock...it's fantastic! There are a bunch of unreleased Bob songs on there too, keeping in mind that Damian reworked them for his album, they are still amazing! And if you're really adventurous and really like reggae Sinead O'Connor's new album is all classic reggae...and really well done I must say.

    BLAST!

Tonight I'm going to see Blast. I can't wait!
  19. Okay, so i didnt know there was a music section.. but one of my hobbies is remixing old video game tunes. Idonno how many people here can appreciate the fine art of video game music (especially in the older days) but please, if you are or were ever into the likes of megaman, chrono trigger, and other various games, feel free to check out some of my tunes and comment. http://k-wix.no-ip.com/music.htm (My personal site) http://www.vgmix.com/users?kwix (the community of musicians i hang out with) I'm not a pro by any means, this is more of a hobby and a way to explore myself and my talents, i have no official experience and have learned everything i know from other members of the community. Feel free to check out the site in general, there are some *amazing* songs *Edit* as some of you already know, my site may be a bit slow, vgmix hosts probably 60% of the tunes on my site, if you want it quicker, you should try there.
  20. Deep Purple, Fleetwood Mac, Foreigner, Queen and Nirvana. Yep. A friend of mine was listening to a classic radio station and heard Nirvana. I guess it was going to happen one of those days. But if your like me and grew up with 90s music. Something like that is bound to make you aware of your age. I can see myself years from now embarressing my kids with RATM and the Smashing Pumpkins. Getting my groove on with my hip replacement to Boyz II Men lol
  21. Who's all going to summer concerts? I know I'll try to go somewhere, maybe take a lil' road trip or two. Ozzfest looks mighty tempting.
  22. Aight, who would be my bestest and fastest MP3 finder around here?
  23. Im pumped, im gonna go see them in Youngstown in Sept. www.disturbed1.com to hear the 2 new songs streamed on the net. Sounds like this could be the best one yet.
  24. Saw them live for the first time tonite.. They roxxor in a big (colorful metaphor) way. It was my first big show to attend in 4 years, the last one was Janes Addiction in the cities (MSP).... Back in the day (college era) I have seen the chili peppers, pearl jam, NIN, blind melon, rollins band, ministry, sound garden, tool, u2, pink floyd, beasty boys, smashing pumpkins, I could go on and on. Plus all of the bands at woodstock 94 (which includes a few of the above that I've seen muliple times i.e. ministry NIN rollins ect..) System was hands down one of the best concerts I've ever seen.. Trust me I'm not a big fan, but I do like there style.
  25. I have been poking at bass now for a year and change, really enjoying myself. picked up a rickenbacker (blue and white) for sentimental reasons (flcl anyone?). she sounds beautiful. I also have some drums and can keep a beat, though can't do much for fillers. (<---- anyone got advice on how to start learning those?) so, what do you guys play? anyone in the famous and coveted conglomerate known as a band? do tell.
