All Kill3r October 18, 2004 Share All Kill3r Member October 18, 2004 prob urK?!?, he has an x800XT. i use an x800pro 500/1.1 - 3.0c 235x15 and play in 1280x1024 in our 20man servers. Fps sound the same as yours, i'm usually close or on my cap of 90fps, but there have times when i drop as low as 40's.
spiralstairs October 19, 2004 Share spiralstairs Member October 19, 2004 i got a similar set up to y'all, 3.2 ghz pentium, x800 pro, with all settings at high and at 1280 X 1024 i get 60 fps steady (sometimes droppin to the 40s during heavy firefights with lots of physics action and all that goin on). its weird, even if i change the max fps and make it higher than 60, my fps just WILL NOT go over 60 . can someone explain this to me? i even tried lowering settings to medium, and changing the resolution to 800 X 600 and my fps got worse (not even close to steady 60 fps). whats goin on here? urk?!? October 19, 2004 Share urk?!? Member October 19, 2004 90-120 fps solid except for spawn on Dust and Italy--which for some reason cause me to dip to 45. Must be a texturing issue that I haven't bothered to troubleshoot. (I'll spike to 300fps when I'm staring at the wall 2 inches from my face, but I don't think that counts ;p) X800XT P4-2.8C (800fsb) 1GB of Corsair XMS LLS (2.5,3,3,6) SATA 160gb disk 1024x768 Everything on. Spiral, turn Vsync off. And install Powerstrip so that you can set your monitor refresh higher. 60hz gives me headaches from the tearing on the screen. Guest zerodamage October 19, 2004 Share Guest zerodamage Guests October 19, 2004 Maybe that is my problem. I used to play 1280 x 1024 but that seemed too high after the game went official. Now I play at 1280 x 960 which allows me higher settings and reasonable framerates. 1024 x 768 is too grainy for me. I could play Dust in the beta at 1280 x 1024 with 4xaa 16xaf with all on high and maintain 100+ fps all the time. now dust has terrible fps. Valve changed something. appalachian_fox October 19, 2004 Share appalachian_fox Member October 19, 2004 Hrm, well, I play Dune 2 on my computer, and I get way more FPS than Counter-Strike. I run an Intel 66 MHz 486 with a pair of 8 MB 72-pin SIMMs (16 MB) and a 512 MB HDD on a 66 MHz IDE bus. I also have a 4x CD drive in my system, but Dune 2 uses 6 floppies (3 1/2, baby, yeah). I souped up the video with a 12MB 3DfxVoodoo Video card (VLB for max performance). Formerly I had a HiQ VLB graphics accelerator in-line with an older 1 MB ISA video card. Dune 2. Way more FPS than Counter-Strike.

urk?!? December 15, 2004 Share urk?!? Member December 15, 2004 This: http://entechtaiwan.net/util/ps.shtm is powerstrip. Takes a lil doing to figure it out. But you can force gamma adjustments out of game, force your monitor refresh to the max on your monitor as well as tweak settings for specific games (AA, AAF etc). With that all things maxed out on my System I am getting between 284 - 330 Fps. Sword 6 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Would have to say this is definitly the highest! I have - AMD Athlon XP 2600+ Barton @ 2.2ghz ATI 9600XT 1 gb ram 3200 Running at 800x600 with high quality, lower end AA and AF, I am averaging around 60. I have it capped there, but if I turn it off, I get a range anywhere from 130-35. So what is holding us all back? Seems like most of us are getting 50-70 fps. I am pretty sure most of my problem is my vid card. Would definitly benefit from a 256mb, extra pipeline card like an x800. When will we start seeing 512mb vid cards?
