tWc|WhiteyFord September 27, 2005 Share tWc|WhiteyFord Member September 27, 2005 so do i need to input these commands into console for each server or just console and it will affect every server i play on?
stutters September 27, 2005 Author Share stutters GC Alumni September 27, 2005 if you copy and paste those into wordpad/notepad, save it as autoexec.cfg in the directory: C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\yoursteamaccthere\counter-strike source\cstrike\cfg\ then it will load everytime, regardless of the server. you may want to rename your current autoexec.cfg to autoexec.bak...just for safe keeping. tWc|WhiteyFord September 27, 2005 Share tWc|WhiteyFord Member September 27, 2005 but if i mostly just play west can i just type them into console and they will work with west everytime or would i have to type them into console everytime i played? so i could see the diff between west and midwest and see how i like the changes. stutters September 27, 2005 Author Share stutters GC Alumni September 27, 2005 these are all client side tweaks. to notice the difference, turn this into an autoexec (previous post) and connect to west. quit the game, exit steam, move this new autoexec (so that you don't have it in your /cfg/ directory), and reconnect to west. if this is anything like the last one you'll notice: models look like fat stick figures hit boxes are way more accurate ultra mega fps boost
Laz.e.rus September 27, 2005 Share Laz.e.rus Member September 27, 2005 Id recommend a diferent approach. First, COPY your Normal config and move it to a safe place!!!! 2- instead of an autoexec, save the above and name it "tweaked.cfg" or something, and place it in your cfg folder. 3- when you connect to a server, in console type "exec tweaked.cfg" You can type commands individually but it will NOT carry over. Some commands WILL change your primary config (unless you make it a read-only file which Id recommend) Also this way you can easily pick and choose. Ex: I have my standard config, my "lowhoke" config with diff rate settings, my "lowsettings config" which uses most of the above. I also bound "[" and "]" to disable/enable interpolation. stutters January 10, 2006 Author Share stutters GC Alumni January 10, 2006 mr. rates, aka laz.e.rus, has motivated me to do some tweaking. ok, so it wasn't just him, but my choke, too. my old net rates were: cl_updaterate 101 cl_cmdrate 101 fps_max 101 rate 30000 less than a month ago, this worked. i had 0 choke, and life was good now i'm at: cl_updaterate 35 cl_cmdrate 35 fps_max 80 rate 30000 now my question. if i can cap my fps lower, and that allows me to boost my cmdrate/updaterate a little, am i better doing that or stick with what i've got? here's the full cfg: //Launch options: -nforcemparms -noforcemaccel -noforcemspd -heapsize 786432 (half 1.5gb ram)//Casey's Source Config //Updated 12/18/05 // _Set netcode settings_ // _adjusts hitboxes and netcode settings for optimal registration_ cl_updaterate 35 cl_cmdrate 35 rate 30000 cl_interp 0.01 cl_interpolate 1 cl_lagcomp_errorcheck 1 cl_lagcompensation 1 cl_smooth 1 // _Set graphics settings_ // _adjusts graphics settings to boost framerate_ cl_ejectbrass 0 // _disables shells flying out of guns_ cl_forcepreload 1 cl_phys_props_enable 0 // _disables trash and cans etc_ cl_phys_props_max 0 // _disables trash and cans etc_ cl_radartype 1 // _solid radar_ cl_ragdoll_physics_enable 0 // _disables dead bodies_ cl_show_splashes 0 // _disables splashes when in water_ fps_max 80 // _caps FPS_ mat_bloomscale 0 mat_bumpmap 0 // _disables bumpmapping_ mat_clipz 0 // _lowers water quality_ mat_fastnobump 1 // _faster bump mapping_ mat_fastspecular 1 // _fast specular lighting_ mat_mipmaptextures 1 // _texture quality decreases with distance_ mat_hdr_enabled 0 // _disables high dynamic range lighting_ mat_hdr_level 0 // _disables high dynamic range lighting_ mat_picmip 2 // _lower texture quality--set between 0 and 2_ mat_specular 0 // _disables specular lighting_ mat_trilinear 0 // _disables trilinear filtering_ mat_wateroverlaysize 16 // _lowers water quality_ mat_vsync 0 // _disables vertical synchronization_ mp_decals 200 // _how many bullets etc will be shown_ muzzleflash_light 0 // _disables muzzleflash_ r_avglight 0 // _disables average lighting_ r_cheapwaterend 1 // _worse water rendering_ r_cheapwaterstart 1 // _worse water rendering_ r_decal_cullsize 2 // _lower texture quality at distance_ r_decals 200 // _disables player sprays_ r_drawdetailprops 0 r_drawflecks 0// _disables bullet impacts_ r_drawmodeldecals 0 // _disables decals on models_ r_dynamic 0 r_eyes 0 // _removes eyes from player models_ r_lightaverage 0 // _disables average lighting_ r_lightinterp 0 r_lod 3 // _adjusts model quality--set between -5 and 5_ r_occlusion // _disables occlusion--lowers image quality but gains FPS_ r_propsmaxdist 100 // _lower object fading distance_ r_renderoverlayfragment 0 r_rootlod 2 // _lower overall game detail level_ r_shadows 1 // _set to 0 to disable shadows (not recommended)_ r_teeth 0 // _removes teeth from player models_ r_waterforceexpensive 0 // _disables high-quality water_ rope_averagelight 0 // _disables average lighting on ropes_ rope_smooth 0 // _disables antialiasing on ropes_ rope_subdiv 0 rope_wind_dist 0 // _disables wind effects on ropes_ alias "+dynduck" "+duck;cl_dynamiccrosshair 1" alias "-dynduck" "-duck;cl_dynamiccrosshair 0" hud_fastswitch "1" hud_centerid "1" net_graph 3 // _Set processing settings_ // _transfers load from GPU to CPU to boost performance_ r_3dnow 1 r_mmx 1 r_sse 1 r_sse2 1 // _Set audio settings_ // _corrects audio synchronization_ snd_mixahead .1 // _mixes sound ahead to reduce stuttering_ // _Set violence settings_ // _increases blood to help you see hits better_ violence_ablood 1 violence_agibs 1 violence_hblood 1 violence_hgibs 1 // _Other settings_ budget_show_history 0 cl_crosshairalpha 999 cl_crosshairusealpha 1 cl_crosshairscale 3500 jpeg_quality 100 sv_forcepreload 1 // Mouse stuff cl_crosshairscale "1100" m_pitch ".022" m_side "0.8" m_yaw "0.022" // Pitch is your up and down movement, and speed. Enter the following in your launch options to do so in CS: -nforcemparms -noforcemaccel -noforcemspd. The reason for disabling in windows AND in CS is because both windows and CS have a "Default" value and will apply it without your consent. So, even if you just disable in CS, your windows accel will still apply (though it will feel different). And if you disable it in windows, but not CS, same thing. If you disable in both, you will notice immediately your sensitivity feels VERY SLOW.. And thus you will be forced to raise it in order to get it back to a managable level. However, once you do this, you will find your mouse movement will be very smooth and consistant. Totally a matter of preference, but that's how you do it, just in case you care to. zoom_sensitivity_ratio ".80" mat_picmip 0 clear echo "_casey's config loaded_"

Laz.e.rus January 10, 2006 Share Laz.e.rus Member January 10, 2006 first If youd like to see player sprays Id put a // in front of r_decals 200 // _disables player sprays_ 80 cap is great. From here, move your cmd rate up 10. PLay awhile ( a day is great, 5 minutes minimum) under diff circumstances (firefights/full server/ empty server/diff maps etc) If no prob, bump updaterate up 5 repeat as high as you can then back off when : 1- you ever choke higher than 10 (dont count those weird spikes everyone gets on every server now and then) 2- you ever get ANY loss (should always get 0)

I dont us just one setting i have made scripts to adjust everything on the fly. if u put these in your config.cfg. and then launch the game and want to change your interp all u would have to is type interpx in the console it will adjust it up buy .01. this script will echo back in console when used automaticly. same goes for the rest if u want to adjust cmdrate type cmdup up in the console and it will rasie it by 10 every time u type it. I change them on the fly when need and have a bindtoggle for net graph. bindtoggle will simple use 1 turn on and 0 to turn off. without having to creating a cycle script. //Bindtoggle netgraph bindtoggle "your key here" "net_graph" //interp alias interpx "incrementvar cl_interp 0 .1 .01" //updaterate change alias uprate "incrementvar cl_updaterate 30 100 10" //cmdrate change alias cmdup "incrementvar cl_cmdrate 30 100 10" //cmdbackup change alias cmdBup "incrementvar cl_cmdbackup 30 100 10" //rate change alias rateup "incrementvar rate 10000 100000 10000" Edited February 16, 2006 by FORZ

FORZ February 16, 2006 Share FORZ Member February 16, 2006 (edited) I agree john and LAZ u can go deeper and deeper into the subject but how far u go is up to u. When dealing with stuff like this there is so much info that can be draged out to prove and disprove both sides. As everyone is aware Me and Lazrus are both great players. We both have found different ways to accomplish the same thing, that thing is being a good player At cs:s. We both have found a grove we like to play in we both have came up with our own configs based off info we have gathered for ourselfs. This is why I was trying to stress that u must make your own configs from scratch and learn things as u make it rather they be right or wrong. This is what makes a great player its not the config its the players knowledge of the game and how it works. oh Oh as I forgot to point out john has a little skill once in awhile .mostly when he is abusing his admin power but we wont talk about that shh its a secert.
