Disabling Ads with Firefox

After about a day or so of tweaking, I've been able to be nearly ad-free on the internet. How? With a few handy extensions from Firefox.

FlashBlock:

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/433/

This extension stops all Flash animations from playing unless you click the "play" button.

AdBlock Plus:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865

This extension lets you block all ads from a specific URL.

AdBlock Filterset Updater:

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1136/

Blocks commonly known ads

Firefox has a built-in pop-up blocker too, so you don't have to worry about those. You can always allow content from trusted sites in case that's an issue.

You can also use Adblock to block specific images. For example, say you don't want to see any of the rankings on Gamerscoalition. Just right-click on one of the ranking images, select "Adblock", and block all images in the http://www.gamrs.co/forums/st...er_team_icons/* URL.

hm, another one of those "incredibly useful" kind of posts. what else is up your sleeve?

...maybe like a filter list for lazy people to import? :D

Even better/lazier: the updater updates every 4-7 days. No need to import.
