wayfarer August 14, 2006 Share wayfarer Member August 14, 2006 I keep getting an error when I try to play a recorded demo. Says HL2 has encountered a problem and needs to close in the error report. Any one ever have this problem, or know a course of action to remedy it?

JackieChan August 14, 2006 Share JackieChan GC Alumni August 14, 2006 The best thing to happen is when you get disputed in a CAL match and Steam releases an update just after the match and prior to the dispute.

Guest ash- August 15, 2006 Share Guest ash- Guests August 15, 2006 It's likely that your demos are now outdated due to steam updates. Does windows give you the option to debug or give you a dump file? Any funny hexidecimal numbers in the error? I can "probably" debug it for you and see what caused it to crash but I am still trying to figure out assembler!
wayfarer August 15, 2006 Author Share wayfarer Member August 15, 2006 This is what I'm getting; As you can see from the red circle, there is a lot of info there & it will not let me copy & paste, so I would have to type everything in manually. One question before I say anything else; did you try recording a demo again recently and try playing it back? If it is just that demo file itself then there is not much else you can do about it. From http://oca.microsoft.com/en/dcp20.asp : "Reports might unintentionally contain personal information, but this information is not used to identify you or contact you. For example, a report that contains a snapshot of memory might include your name, part of a document you were working on, or data that you recently submitted to a website. If you are concerned that a report might contain personal or confidential information, you should not send the report." If that's comfortable with you, let me know. I might be able to debug it. Otherwise you should send the information over to Microsoft and they will relay the information to Valve. wayfarer August 16, 2006 Author Share wayfarer Member August 16, 2006 This has been an ongoing problem. I have never been able to get demo's to work. I send the info to microsoft, I get no answer. I don't know what else. I tried fresh install, no effect.

anonymo August 16, 2006 Share anonymo Member August 16, 2006 Do you launch the demo from in the game? I know it won't let me double click demos and auto run, it gives me a similar error...go into CS and open the console and type "demoui" and load it from there
wayfarer August 16, 2006 Author Share wayfarer Member August 16, 2006 Ok, that did work, except it will not show me. I only stand in one place, buying guns, and shooting but not moving. Everyone else moves fine, but my player just sits is spawn while the demo proceeds. Does that make sense?
