I am holding out as long as I can also. I was planning on using Neweggs offer of no intrest and no payments for 6 months deal. It ends 3/31/2007, as long as I can play CS I will buy it, otherwise I will wait till Vista has more support.

ok all this stuff about drm only applies to "legal" media. how many of us does that really affect? who here buys hd-dvds or blueray discs and has shelled out the 400-800 bucks to play these on your pc? or for that matter how many people here even have powerful enough computers to play this stuff? there will always be cracks for this stuff same as there are cracks for copy protected cds and dvds right now. i used vista and had no problems playing any of my content, legal or otherwise. it works just the same as in windows xp.

I just upgraded to Vista 64 bit. PC is a Core 2 Duo (E4300, cheap CPU), 2GB ram, Gigabyte P965-DS3 motherboard v3.3), 10K raptor disk drive. Not overclocked yet (but apparently this can be almost doubled in clock speed). I'm still using my 'old' 6600GT as a graphics card (waiting on an 8900 Ultra to be released).

Loaded steam and source, and (in the first 2 days) runs exceedingly well. So far, I wouldn't know I wasn't playing under XP. Better than I expected. So far, in terms of frame rate, lag, etc, I can't perceive any difference.

As for Vista itself, overall, fairly smooth process to do a clean install (with usual hassles) but it's 'nice'. Need some more time to get used to it, but overall more refined, more features, I like it.

email me if you have any questions,
