Sgt. Slaughterâ„¢-TopBrass February 18, 2007 Share Sgt. Slaughterâ„¢-TopBrass Member February 18, 2007 I'm just curious if anyone has, or has had any issues installing steam and counter strike source on their 64-bit Vista OS. Before I pull the trigger on my new computer upgrade I would like to know if I can play my games! Thanks for your info, Slaughter
ZeroDamage February 19, 2007 Share ZeroDamage Member February 19, 2007 You should be able to but do not know for sure. Have you checked out the Steam forums?

Slaughterâ„¢-TopBrass Member February 19, 2007 (edited) I poked through it a bit, but with the limited time I had I didn't find anything. I will look around some more today. dragonfly February 19, 2007 Share dragonfly Member February 19, 2007 I'll try to convince my rommate to put it on his pc. I have it, but he has vistax64. Though, I dunno why you'd want vista...

Sgt. Slaughterâ„¢-TopBrass February 19, 2007 Author Share Sgt. Slaughterâ„¢-TopBrass Member February 19, 2007 (edited) I am holding out as long as I can also. I was planning on using Neweggs offer of no intrest and no payments for 6 months deal. It ends 3/31/2007, as long as I can play CS I will buy it, otherwise I will wait till Vista has more support. Cujo February 22, 2007 Share Cujo Member February 22, 2007 I'm only getting vista for dx10...Yay for planned product Obsolesces! no dx10 games yet, im holding off on vista till i absolutely have to, or until they get more lax on drm (which prolly wont happen) ok all this stuff about drm only applies to "legal" media. how many of us does that really affect? who here buys hd-dvds or blueray discs and has shelled out the 400-800 bucks to play these on your pc? or for that matter how many people here even have powerful enough computers to play this stuff? there will always be cracks for this stuff same as there are cracks for copy protected cds and dvds right now. i used vista and had no problems playing any of my content, legal or otherwise. it works just the same as in windows xp. Guest JiminyC February 26, 2007 Share Guest JiminyC Guests February 26, 2007 I just upgraded to Vista 64 bit. PC is a Core 2 Duo (E4300, cheap CPU), 2GB ram, Gigabyte P965-DS3 motherboard v3.3), 10K raptor disk drive. Not overclocked yet (but apparently this can be almost doubled in clock speed). I'm still using my 'old' 6600GT as a graphics card (waiting on an 8900 Ultra to be released). Loaded steam and source, and (in the first 2 days) runs exceedingly well. So far, I wouldn't know I wasn't playing under XP. Better than I expected. So far, in terms of frame rate, lag, etc, I can't perceive any difference. As for Vista itself, overall, fairly smooth process to do a clean install (with usual hassles) but it's 'nice'. Need some more time to get used to it, but overall more refined, more features, I like it. email me if you have any questions, JiminyC
