Help pick wireless router

I had a Linksys router for a long time and constantly had computers getting on and off the wireless network--I had to reset the thing constantly, so I bought this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16833127158

Best router I've ever owned, and it has never needed a reset (I bought it almost 2 years ago now). The feature set is fantastic, but it's pricey. Were I going to stick to under $65, I'd probably go with one of those you have selected (probably the second one).

Just curious out of those here who say they are using wireless routers are you gaming on wireless connection too? I ask because I don't if its my wireless card, router, or just wireless on why my connection always seems to get lag spikes. Bothersome enough during game it disrupts the smoothness and often I find if I reset both the router and modem it helps a little bit for a while. Generally though the problem comes back.

Sorry to hijack your thread Tracid.

i've got the wrt54g (v8.0). i love it. i run dd-wrt micro and have 0 issues with it.

8, -3. :wavey:

I have a wrt54g v6.0 and just found out about dd-wrt today, can't run tomato on the v6. Is dd-wrt easy to flash? Looks like I'd have to run the micro version too.

yes.

download current wrt54x firmware. upgrade via webadmin. keep current firmware handy.

download current vxkiller, vxrevert, and dd-wrt for your router.

from linksys webadmin, flash with vxkiller.

wait, reboot router.

tftp dd-wrt firmware over.

wait, reboot router.
