stutters October 8, 2008 Share stutters GC Alumni October 8, 2008 i've got 2 x 1 GB PC2 5300 200 pin sodimms that i want to give to a friend of mine that has a t41: 64-bit Double Data Rate (DDR) non-parity SDRAM memory PC2700 at 333MHz Two 200 pin SO-DIMM memory slots, one slot is pre-populated with 256MB or 512MB, leaving one socket available Supports up to two 1GB SDRAM SO DIMMs Supports maximum memory up to 2GB are pc2 5300 chips backward compatible - will he be able to use these in his system? i'd have to ship them, so i don't want to go through the hassle if it won't work. thanks, -sj
NOFX October 8, 2008 Share NOFX Member October 8, 2008 Looks like PC2 memory is DDR2. If thats the case, DDR2 chips won't fit in DDR slots. Why don't you just use that memory in your new build? It would save you 90 dollars on the memory...
ZeroDamage October 8, 2008 Share ZeroDamage Member October 8, 2008 Yeah, the Chips are backwards compatible. That answer may not be 100% but 99% of the time they are.

Preacher October 8, 2008 Share Preacher Member October 8, 2008 (edited) If that is DDR2 it will not work with DDR1 and vice versa. If you have 800mhz ram it should work w/ 533mhz ram though. Also if you have 400mhz ram it should work fine in a 333mhz system Won't be able to mail till next week but I do have a gig of DDR1 PC2700 RAM (2x512mb) I will sell you cheap. I upgraded a laptop last summer w/ 2x1gb for the church. I'm thinking $20 shipped? Edited October 8, 2008 by Preacher
ZeroDamage October 8, 2008 Share ZeroDamage Member October 8, 2008 Yeah. The different memory types fit differently in their corresponding slots and have different power requirements.
