Shazz October 18, 2008 Share Shazz Member October 18, 2008 I seen this movie tonight. It was....super Slow!! So slow that i almost walked out...yes I said it. I actually felt myself nodding off. I played the game. So I understand the story line. But making it into a movie just didn't' work for me. It just seemed like the same ol' same ol' movie. Nothing special at all. One thing I liked about the game was the slow motion you could put Max Payne into during a fight. In the movie, it was corny. It didn't come off cool at all. It went pretty close to the story in the game. Props for that, but thats it. There was one point in the movie where Max Payne busted through a couple of doors yelling "BB!!", and no joke...people started laughing. Seeing Mila Kunis from That 70's show was ok I guess. She seems to be a good actor, but I kept waiting for her to do something dumb. Hopefully this movie will help her get more serious roles.
ZeroDamage October 18, 2008 Share ZeroDamage Member October 18, 2008 I am going to go see it tomorrow. Did the PG-13 rating hurt it any? I know that the game content wise was rated-R at least. I'm kind of worried that the rating means they cut a lot out of it.
Shazz October 18, 2008 Author Share Shazz Member October 18, 2008 It might have. There wasn't much language, and not much blood. Mostly scary images from the drug.

TheFirstMonk October 18, 2008 Share TheFirstMonk Member October 18, 2008 http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3170182 Link to news about PG-13 cut and a Rated R DVD version. Not very specific, just a little bit of information. It may or may not affect whether or not you watch the film. Most reviews I've read about the film haven't been very encouraging. boiler February 2, 2009 Share boiler Member February 2, 2009 I rented the unrated DVD version this past weekend. I was mildly entertained for a while, but it just didn't have the same "darkness" and the action was surprisingly flat-feeling. The movie did have one big positive aspect though - it reminded me that I never played Max Payne 2, so I bought it for $7 on steam and am playing through it now. LOVE IT! ZeroDamage February 3, 2009 Share ZeroDamage Member February 3, 2009 One of the worst movies I've ever partially seen. It was so bad that I stopped probably a 1/3 of the way and never thought about it again.
ash February 3, 2009 Share ash Member February 3, 2009 I thought this movie was absolute horse puckey, HORSE PUCKEY but the soundtrack had some awesome jackson moments.
Magruter February 3, 2009 Share Magruter Member February 3, 2009 I wish I would have seen this before I rented this piece of junk. Fell asleep at 9:00 only made it about 1/2 way through.
dwEEziL February 3, 2009 Share dwEEziL Member February 3, 2009 I didn't think it was too too bad. Of course, I didn't have high hopes for it in the first place.
boiler February 3, 2009 Share boiler Member February 3, 2009 geez guys, the only reason I brought this up again was to say how awesome Max Payne 2 is, and how I couldn't believe that I hadn't played it yet. Let the movie go.
dwEEziL February 3, 2009 Share dwEEziL Member February 3, 2009 Meh, I didn't care for Max Payne 2 as much as I liked the original. Of course, I played 2 shortly after playing one and 2 just seemed way too short and way too much of a rehash of the original.

Heh, I didn't get the game, but I did play the demo of Max Payne 2 a couple years ago. I thought it was pretty fun. I won't buy it now because I'm thinking about getting Stranglehold instead (kinda similar play mechanics, but I'm a fan of John Woo...so Stranglehold it is. ) My best time in Dead Man Walking mode was 10 minutes, 44 seconds.
