Chief April 24, 2003 Share Chief Member April 24, 2003 That's the best one for DirectX9 on an ATI card as I understand it. The older 3dmark2001se, would be a bit more effective for the nvidia folks.

[VI]ROosTEr April 29, 2003 Share [VI]ROosTEr Member April 29, 2003 You may want to try 3DMark 2001SE then Navy. Your card doesn't support DX 9, therefore it won't do most of the tests on Futuremark 03.

[VI]ROosTEr April 29, 2003 Share [VI]ROosTEr Member April 29, 2003 Dweez, you're going from the GF3 to the ATI right? Did you go into the ATI control Panel and set all of your settings down to High performance? If not, that could help explain the score, cuz they come defaulted to middle of the road specs. dwEEziL April 29, 2003 Share dwEEziL Member April 29, 2003 I didn't make any adjustments to my settings at all (except to turn off v-sync) and this is on a fresh Wxp install (no nVida Vid driver has every been installed on it) so I will go make those changes and run the test again. dwEEziL April 29, 2003 Share dwEEziL Member April 29, 2003 I hope...I had some moments during the Troll test (#3 I believe) where I was getting 1 fps. Did you OC your card any?
[VI]ROosTEr April 29, 2003 Share [VI]ROosTEr Member April 29, 2003 Nope. Are you talking about the test where the chick goes after the trolls with the sword?
dwEEziL April 29, 2003 Share dwEEziL Member April 29, 2003 Um, yeah. Hence I called it the "Troll test".
[VI]ROosTEr April 29, 2003 Share [VI]ROosTEr Member April 29, 2003 Well, there are at least 4 troll tests. I guess you are referring to CPU test 2. Mine hits 1 fps there too.
Guest RedMagic April 29, 2003 Share Guest RedMagic Guests April 29, 2003 lma hence the troll test my favorite one is when the trolls fall off the stair thing

dwEEziL April 30, 2003 Share dwEEziL Member April 30, 2003 (edited) Ok, I had disabled v-sync on OpenGL but not Direct3D and now I get a 4267. I haven't delved into Vid card tweaking much. Rooster, what else should I do to up my score but still keep a good quality? I tweaked the Texture Preference and Mipmap Detail Level on both the Direct3D down to "Quality" and the Mipmap Detail Level on OpenGL to "Quality" and my score went down to 4249. [VI]ROosTEr April 30, 2003 Share [VI]ROosTEr Member April 30, 2003 If you're benchmarking, you just want to keep your dirext x settings to junk. Then, you can turn on all the goodies after you are done. Of course OpenGL is probably what you use in CS, so it shouldn't really matter.
