Slimmage February 8, 2004 Share Slimmage Member February 8, 2004 Today I opened up my case for the first time in about 3 months only to be hit with a cloud of dust! What's the easiest and safest way to get all the dust and crap off my fans and cards?
All Kill3r February 8, 2004 Share All Kill3r Member February 8, 2004 canned air from walmart, just at all times keep the aircan vertical, when it goes sideways it will spray out a liquid that could harm hardware.
auggybendoggy February 8, 2004 Share auggybendoggy Member February 8, 2004 only dont buy it at walmart. When you buy anything you want to at least look like you have a job. Whether you do or not doesnt matter. Once you shop at walmart everyone will no your a jobless trailertrash welfare collecting speed selling liberal
[Mmmm]Homer February 8, 2004 Share [Mmmm]Homer Member February 8, 2004 LOL Auggie, I read Kill3r's post and had a violent "NO! Don't shop at Walmart!" reaction, then I read yours. By canned air at your locally owned computer shop. Don't tilt the can past 45 degress or it will spray moisture over everything.
Birdman February 8, 2004 Share Birdman Member February 8, 2004 After you clean up all the dust.... Add a couple 80 mm holes in the case, slap some fans in and get some filter media for the intakes. Dust will be all but gone from the inside if you filter correctly and have a neutral pressure inside. Then youll just have to clean filters instead of the whole case
[Mmmm]Homer February 8, 2004 Share [Mmmm]Homer Member February 8, 2004 The 'padding' that some mobo's have inside the box works good as a filter. (the charcoal colored stuff, not the pinkish foam stuff)

[Mmmm]Homer February 8, 2004 Share [Mmmm]Homer Member February 8, 2004 It's around $2-3 a can, it'll last quite a while if you don't point it at your cat or dog and mess with them with it. With regular de_dusting a can should last you a year. Make sure to blow out the chunks in all the fans, and blow the PSU from the inside of the case outward. The can will get cold as the pressure is released, give it a min. to warm up when it does.
