  1. Hope you have a good one.
  2. I agree with those who love the 518. Haven't used the G5, so can't comment on it. For me, I use the side buttons for "forward/back" on the internets, and it also works in windows explorer or any other app that has forward and back functionality. In gaming, I'll assign various tasks to the thumb buttons, voice chat, targeting, or whatever hot key that I'm likely to need in a hurry (fast heals/med kits whatnot) and can't risk the movement to find whatever random key the dev's defaulted it too. What I did when I was in the market was to go to CompUSA or BestBuy and put my hands on the various mice I was looking at and see which ones felt best to me. Then bought it at NewEGG
  3. Ouch. My suggestion would be to call them rather than do the online chat thing if you can. Then if you get someone who's accent is impossible to understand, tell them to get someone who can speak English. Worked for me with HP tech (un)support at work. Had a defective monitor and the tech kept asking me to check if it was on and plugged in. Duh, it was on and then went black all by itself. After complaining that they needed to put someone who could speak English, she put an obviously Indian man on the phone who had an accent that was very understandable. I gave him the same part numbers that I'd given 2 different tech previously, and he then told me that that model had a defective part that caused it to shut down randomly (Gee, exactly what I told the other tech was happening) He got a new monitor sent out that day, and we sent the old one back. Judging from your chat log, either you were speaking to a robot, or someone in India who speaks English as a 3rd language at best. That type of service is simply unacceptable and you need to try to get to the next level of support at the very least. Best of luck dude.
  4. But if you spend the $60 on a ps3 or XBox 360 or Wii game you can play the game for ever, or until you lose the disk, console explodes, whatever. Same with your basic pc game. You have to add the initial cost of the the game into your price. Honestly, how many games would you go to the store and shell out $120 for? I'm thinking none. The publishers are robbing us blind. It'd be the same as my company telling our customers they can get their shirts printed for $12.00 and then an additional $1.00 per month to wear them. If they don't pay the monthly fee, they can't have them anymore until they do. How long do you think we'd be in business? Think before you plunk down your hard earned cash..... Steam doesn't charge for their services, think they're hurting for cash? Why should we pay Blizz, or any other publishers for the right to play the games we bought?
  5. Awesome job on the custom maps last night Shaft! :boing: Much fun was had by everyone. And I think that everyone favourite map (arghhh) from last night should be thrown on to the server at random times just to make things more interesting. Might make the awp'ers less happy, but sometimes everyone needs shaken up a bit.

    Question

Well, I see everyone as left handed. So there. Shaftiel I normally don't see people, they see me and then shoot me.
  7. Do we have any idea how many people are signed up and paid yet?
  8. Being a dad. Second son was born on June 20 last year, wife and my 16th wedding anniversary. Also had some family and computer issues that kept me outta the gaming/forum arena. All in all, it was a challenging year with a toddler and an infant in the house and a couple deaths in the extended family. Anyway, I'm back even if it's in a limited way. Thanks for the welcome Unclean.
  9. 3vil, glad you're here and not where you used to be. As for the Challenger explosion, I was a senior in HS, and we were following it closely because Judy Resnick went to my high school. I will never get the images of that launch out of my mind, although that probably not a bad thing as it keeps the members of the crew alive in our hearts. Happy belated bday ZD.
  10. Dude, you srsly need to come. Good times man.....
  11. I'm 75% sure. The wife and I haven't taken a vacation in 4 years, and we now have 2 little ones running around the house (well, technically only 1 is running since the youngest is just over 6 months old) The youngest boy will just have turned 1 year old the previous month, so birthday parties should be concluded by then. Yes, I'm still around, just not nearly as active at gaming with a 2 year old and a 6 month in the house. I'm sure Thief_Lord is looking forward to coming again, so I can maybe sway that in my favor. "Honey, I have to chaperon him. It's for him that I sacrifice the weekend to attend, not for myself." We'll see how well that plays out, and go from there.
  12. dude that sux. At least it wasn't the house you're currently in, but still sux.
  13. Armed Assault: Queens Gambit sounds like something you might like. Tactical FPS. Very unlike css in that you can't go runing around "rambo" style, but it's a lot more realistic. It you get wounded, it will affect what you can and can't do. i.e. get shot in the arms, and your aiming will be difficult, get shot in the legs, and you may not be able to run, or you may not be able to even stand and walk and need to crawl. You can also drive any vehicle, as well as fly various choppers and planes. Plus there's multi-player, and the maps are freaking huge. You can go just about anywhere. Weapons fire and damage far more realistic than any FPS I've ever played. You do need a pretty decent system to run it well though due to the detail levels and the size of the environment.
  14. It weasn't even glued. I found the screws and the thing just came off. Honestly, I think it was about the same size as the hsf on my old 100MHz pentium...... felt like plastic too...... ick. Way to go cheap eVga. Glad I read the reviews on Newegg and got the zalman vga cooler for it.
  15. Thanks for the info Preacher and zd. Now, anyone have any great ideas about how to get a stock hsf off of a viddy card w/o damaging the card? nm, I'm an id10t. figured it out. resume your normal activities. >.>
  16. First off, thanks to m0m and Cujo for helping me troubleshoot my system problems at Fragfest this year. The updated drivers helped, but sadly the problem still exists to a certain extent. I think I've been able to determine that it's the video card, and not the soundcard like we thought before. That's where the PCIE part of my question come into play. I had been using a Gigabyte 8800gt in my system for most of this year. When I put that card into the system, multiplayer games cause the system to shut down. It's not even just if I play a multiplayer game, but if the game supports it, or I run it through steam it will shut down the system. As a control, I put one of my old 6600gt's in and voila, no more crashing. I know my mobo is PCIE 1.x because it's an Asus A8N-SLi Deluxe mobo that's over 3 years old. Would it be something bad on the card, or is PCIE 2.0 not totally backward compatible with 1.x? Next question. Needed a new viddycard for my wife's Socket A board so I picked up this 7600gt agp card and a zalman vf900 cu viddy card cooler because the reviews all said that the stock cooler was poopy and the card couldn't handle the temps over the long haul. What's the best way (easiest/safest) to get the stock cooler off the card?
  17. Nicely done. As a longtime boater, I can appreciate how quickly an ordinary day can become an extraordinary one. Glad you guys were around to help him.
  18. Best of luck Ty. Post up whenever you can my friend.
  19. Better yet, spell your message out on some flapjacks using maple syrup...as an added lure, put some Molson nearby. All canadians would be drawn to that, like white on rice. Actually works better if you use Labatt for most Canadians I know.... That way you're guaranteed to get his attn.
  20. I was going to buy a razer a couple years ago when I was needing a new mouse, but honestly the mx518 fit my hand better than the razers did. Tried several, and all were too small.
  21. 2 and 1 Have fun golfing everyone!!!!! Wish I was able to be there for the golf, but there was no way to get out of work this year for that.
  22. ..........hope I'm not sitting next to you....... ewwwwwwwwwww!
