  1. The Beatiful Wife and I are leaving tomorrow to take the Kids to the Great Wolf Lodge in Sandusky. If you have kids and have not been to one of these lodges, it's worth considering. Fun place to go. Just curious if any of you know of any good restaurants in the Sandusky area that we should hit while there. They could be local favorites of any kind, family friendly places, and even nicer "mom and dad" style places in case we get a parents-only meal at some point. Cheers, SS
  2. This ep started slow. The Call of Duty ref got it going. That and Dwight's meeting with Jan. Stuffing those waffles into his mouth was classic. The Office has certainly become one of my favorite shows.
  3. the last update news steam delivered said Q1 07.
  4. LOL... Competetive eating and in this case overeating... kinda nauseates me... Makes me wanna move to CANADA!
  5. We should do this every so often as an impromptu sorta thing. Maybe I'll request Admin status so I can declare Mortal Combat when I need to work out some agression. SS
  6. I started watching this right after i moved into my current house, in like Fall 2002. Poor Alton had the one show and it moved timeslots etc. Fast forward 4 years and he's everywhere on the network. It is a good show, with enough food, science and camp (both intentional and not) to make it fun.
  7. Good Q doesn't need sauce. Actually, I prefer a good ketchup based sauce with a bit of vinegar. Not too sweet though. But if you search the net you can find a fistful of recipes. There are ketchup based, mustard based, and vinegar based. Also look for "mop" recipes. more of a marinade or brine than a BBQ sauce that is basted on during cooking. Particularly ribs or brisket. Remember that anything with too much sugar (particularly commercial BBQ sauces) will burn if applied over high heat or too early during cooking, so take care. Usually they are only applied at the last minute. Plus, with stuff like brisket or pork shoulder, you leave the fat cap intact during cooking. Most saucing will get lost as you peel off the cap for service. Enjoy.
  8. Well... This past week I spent time with the extended Slasher Family... Mrs. Slasher and the little Slashers, Grandma and Grandpa Slasher, the Slasher sibs and significant others, nieces, nephews. On my designated day to provide the vittles, I provided honest to goodness, genuine Q. That is, slow cooked over hardwood chips type Q. I built my smokers out of... large terre cotta pots! I got the idea from the episode of Good Eats on Food Network where Alton Brown builds a smoker out of... a terre cotta pot! Basically you take 2 pots, one as base, the other inverted as lid. You put a hot plate in the bottom with a pan of chips on top. You set a grille grate down in the bottom pot, place your meat of choice, lid on, set a grille thermometer in the hole in the clay pot and off you go. I got up at 4:45 thursday morning and cranked up the pots. I built 2. One got a boston butt (pork shoulder) that I brined overnight and rubbed with a mixture of spices (cumin, fennel, corriander, paprika, garlic powder). The other got a beef brisket that i rubbed with yellow mustard and spices and brown sugar. The pork got a mixture of applewood and hickory chips for the smoke, while the brisket got oak chips that came from Jack Daniels barrels. And wow... were they steeped in the Old #7! They went for upwards of 12 hours on the smokers, followed by a 1 hour rest wrapped in HDAF (heavy duty aluminum foil). I sliced up the beef and shredded the pork and accepted the wide-eyed praise of family and friends. I'll try to take some pics next time I fire them up. If curious, you can search the net for clay pot smokers or Alton Brown and clay pot or whatever. Many people have built these, and most have met with the same success I have. I can totally recommend this to any Q afficianados out there. Cheers, SS
  9. Heh... yeah, like the game CS:S itself, the famas is a fickle mistress. Sometimes you pound a dude for 4-5 hits and can't kill 'em. It really doesn't seem to penetrate body armor very well. Then other times, you mow people down from a distance like they are tiny little ants under your thumb. (not that i advocate violence agains animals. just computer animated violence against cartoon people, appearantly) Plus, when in close quarters in full auto the thing shoots like an SMG. On the scopeless server it is almost like having a scoped weapon. Nother better than clearing that window above long hall on Italy. Oh crap... I just walked all over my own topic. SS
  10. so... after months of few if any TK's, I've had a rash of them in the past few days. (I'm up to 8 since the stat reset!). Apologies to anyone on the receiving end of one. After 6+ months of exclusive p90 loving, I've gone back to my first love, the famas. Problem is... famas... rifle... burst fire... If you do shoot a TM with burst on, chances are you're gonna hit em more than once. Well... you can do the math. so anyway... don't take it personal or anything. Cheers, SS
  11. Heh... FWIW... just be sure re REMIND HI when we arrive that all those people are gonna hit the buffet at the same time each day. I can just see us all sitting there and the poor 1 waitress running around an empty steam table. Heh.... someone said sausage.

  13. On E. Hines road. Across from a Holiday Inn? Cuz, there is a Boston Hills that fit all of these requirements: http://www.golflink.com/golf-courses/golf-...asp?course=8440
  14. BTW... is it "Boston Mills" or "Boston Hills"? Cuz... And if so... <mumbles> great goolgally moogally <mumbles>
  15. No one wants to play those sissy Mario and Sonic games! Too bad I'm not coming. I would bring Steel Battalion along. Heh... I dunno... Mario Kart kicks it freestlye man. I know on the surface it looks weak, but it's pretty addictive. Plus, it's fun to have a game you can play with your kids (and wife now and again). And, I need a break from splattering blood every now and a gain.
  16. So we have .gc decals all over the maps we serve... How about figuring out how to make the projector in the Office conference room actually project the .gc logo? SJ et. al. i'm looking at you... Better yet, how about a screen grab of the .gc website frontpage? Bonus points if you can have it grab at the time of mapload so it is always up to date! Cheers, SS
  17. Moreau. Pronouced More-O. Like the Island of Dr. ... That many vowels together in a word seems to produce some sort of verbal palsy in humans. I like when people try to sound out each vowel individually. Um... More-E-A-U?
  18. Hey Nick, I though you were allergic to Ether soaked rags... edited for spelling. Cuz spelling and grammer are important! "Me fail english? That's unpossible!"
  19. You need a ride? Or do you wanna drive. I'm going EARLY thursday, in time for golf at 10:00 am. I could pick you up on the way through. P.S. I know Modified/Bushmaster/Girlgamer are going from GR. Maybe we should all talk about a plan. I'm driving a Tahoe which could carry 4 comfortably with gear, or 5 less comfortably with gear, depending on how many rear seats I take out. Plus, it has a DVD player. PM me or post up here and pollute poor Nick's thread. P.S. Nick, I can still change your grades. muahahahahahahaha
  20. Shropshire Slasher, 1 room x 3 nights = 3 P.S. May add the 5th also. SS Looks like I'll be coming down early on thursday, rather than wednesday night. Going to a minor league baseball game with the fam (wife and kids). The law firm that her company employs is giving them their suite at the park. Not like an NBA/NFL luxury box, but still pretty cool with free burgers/dogs/beer. Planning on Golf though. SS
  21. Welcome back. BTW, it is "don", not "dawn". It is a middle english contraction of "do on", or to wrap oneself in. "Gird" would have also been acceptable, and perhaps more poetic. P.S. There is a new grammer nazi in town... and it is he who will be doing it to whom.
  22. 17" monitor (1920x1200). It weighs in at closer to 10pounds than not! Actually, the weight number is deceiving. It weighs slightly less than my older lappy, and is better balanced. Also, given its sturdier construction it "feels" lighter than the old one by a good amount. Bear in mind, this lappy is not intended for the jetsetting business traveller. It is a desktop replacement where functionality is first consideration. It only needs to be portable "enough" to go from work to home and back.
