Sometime in 97' before I got a Voodoo card, I bought a Techworks Laguna 3D. Since it used the same DRAM memory as the N64 used I thought it would kick arse, boy was I wrong. After a couple days I sent it back to Techworks and they gave me a full refund. The video card was THAT BAD. It used a Cirrus Logic chipset. Also somewhere in after the Voodoo but before Voodoo 2, instead of the Virge card I used a Rendition V2200 with the Voodoo but I can't remember the specifics. I do remember playing some games like Tomb Raider and Whiplash with the Rendition card because it had better quality over 3dfx at equal or greater fps. Unfortunately both companies are gone now, I would have like to see what Rendition could have done after the V2200 chip.

I played the games a second time around stating few months ago, got around 100hrs in. Did the quests that I didnt do the first time like the Mages Guild. Pretty cool once you are accepted into the guild you gain access to all of their equipment in the Imperial City's hall, you can create you own spells and enchant weapons. If I ever play again I would try Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul mod, or more common the ooo mod. It's still a fantastic game and one of my favorites of all time. As good as Fallout 3 is I still have played Oblivion for more hours. (that's not to say that Fallout3 isn't awesome)

I've actually only built one computer (12 years ago). Everything after that has been upgrades. ditto. i've never done a completely brand new build. Yeah actually the first machine I built had a Virge, 3dfx, ISA sound card and external modem upgrades that was carried over from a Packard Bell I had bought. The stupid PBell only had 1 free PCI slot, I first put a Virge in there and it puked up 3D so I swapped it out for a Voodoo and ran it with the built in Cirrus Logic. After I bought the PBell I vowed never to buy another prebuilt comp again, and I haven't.

Is that the right command? says unknown command Ah, you have to use mat_queue_mode 0 doh! It smoothed out the studdering about 85%, but the last time it did it it was for about 5 seconds. I cant handle that. I disable the CPU feature again, the small boost isnt worth it.

Ah, I had to disable Multicore Processing in the advanced settings in the video options. Game runs fine now.

So I got the game today, but the game just doesn't agree with my system. I have hiccups right off the bat, sometimes 1 second pauses up to 5 or 10 seconds. Then there's the game lock ups. So far I've only tried to play single player. I installed updated video drivers but it didn't resolve anything. I have no problems running running any other game like Oblivion, TF2, Falloot 3 and I recently beat Bioshock with no issues. System: Intel E2160@3.2 and Geforce GTX 260 default with 4gb ram.

It doesn't matter with plasmas as their display method differs from LCDs in a way that doesn't cause the motion blur associated with LCDs. Motion Blur (thanks to Ruff_Ryder for the good link) Good motion blur read. That's exactly why I ditched my last lcd (22" Asus) and went back to CRT for computer gaming. I can't handle the blur. And while I've never noticed any blurring watching a movie on my plasma, if I concentrate on the pointer and move it real fast I can see some playing my Wii.

I bought the game last week but amazon is taking freaking forever, they even waited 4 days before they shipped it. I've ordered non-game items from them before and get the stuff in a day or two. Right now the tracking says it should arrive on the 8th. I'll never order another game from them if I can help it.

Na the 5200 only has 2mb while the 8400 has 6mb. With the new rev of the e5200 they should be able to go 200-300 more then the current chips. I'm hoping 4.0 will be easy. Seems the more complex the game and higher the rez, game performance is boiling down to the GPU. Well for us single GPU folks anyways.
