  1. It depends on what you mean by configs. We did this (except not blind) with the admin plugins. It is a bit of a hassle to change the admin plugins, as the second one needs to be configured once (takes quite a while for SourceMod to get it set up the way you want), and all the admins of course need to be aware of the change because the commands are named differently. Changing a variety of server cvars is not difficult at all, but you have to know which ones are likely to effect registration (there are a lot of cvars, type 'cvarlist' in console sometime). Most of the cvars that effect registration (interpolation, rates, etc.) are configured on the client side.
  2. Use FileZilla for FTP. It's free, simple, and works like a normal FTP client.
  3. Complaints about registration are appreciated. We just got done looking for a difference between Mani and Sourcemod (the two major admin plugins) in terms of server performance over a few weeks, unfortunately with no result. That means that other options are now being considered, as the performance for Retro is not really holding up after the June 26 update (server-side framerate cut in half). If you know of specific servers of a similar size (over 20 active players) that definitely (and consistently) play better, please PM me to let me know which ones specifically. The only one I've heard so far is the Fish. Being able to look at how these servers are set up in terms of OS, plugins, and some cvars may be very helpful. If you can run a trace and post it that would be interesting as well, to see if there are routing issues common to players who are not getting good registration.
  4. After conferring with mohawk, the tentative opinion is that there is no evidence of cheating in the recorded demo. Sorry for the inconvenience.
  5. Jack Burton Burrito's (sic) will be unbanned when I finish downloading the current logs or when his ID is posted, whichever is sooner. Flux will either be unbanned or remain banned once the recorded demos have been reviewed.
  6. (1) We want to keep a friendly atmosphere where players treat each other with respect, or at a minimum don't treat each other badly. This is supported by policies against swearing and insulting other players. If someone wants to insult someone, they will have to put it into language that will diminish or possibly cancel its offensiveness. A policy specifically against swearing at people would be difficult or impossible to enforce. (2) Different things are offensive to different people. Some people would let their kids watch zombie movies but not R-rated comedies. Some people would do the opposite. CSS specifically is really not that gory; even if there were a clear equivalence between violence and bad language, to my eye it's tamer than what you'd see or hear at 9pm on broadcast TV. (3) No swearing keeps the noobs out. Often enough, the people who can't control themselves are the very same people who theoretically shouldn't be playing an M-rated game.
  7. Looks like it's on the right version now; there are two people in it.
  8. Had an email from 2:40 eastern today that the server had been updated with something. The server is up. Here is what I see for status if it helps with anything: 00:11:09 status 00:11:09 hostname: gcftw.com | Left 4 Dead 2 10v10 version : 2.0.7.5 4632 secure (unknown) udp/ip : 216.52.148.77:27015 [ public same ] os : Windows Dedicated map : c1m1_hotel players : 0 humans, 0 bots (22 max) (not hibernating) (unreserved) # userid name uniqueid connected ping loss state rate adr #end
  9. Not sure when exactly it changed. 07:48:53 ma_ban 07:48:53 Command Name: 'ma_ban' Server Console: Yes | Client Console: Yes | Chat Command: Yes | Allowed in war mode: Yes Parameters : ma_ban <target> <time in minutes to ban, 0 = permanent> <reason> Description: Ban the target for the specified time (Steam ID type ban)
  10. Unbanned. They changed the order of the parameters for ma_ban quite a while back; still screws me up to have it backwards like this.
  11. I have most of the logs from October 2006 through now.

  13. I banned you and another guy 26 December 2006 because the two of you wouldn't stop being lewd after being kicked repeatedly. I'll unban you if you think you can behave.
  14. Testing over the next few weeks to see if there is a noticeable difference in server registration between Mani's Admin Plugin and SourceMod.
  15. Noticed the same starting this (past) season.
  16. I think it's a bug, because nobody changed your status since the last time you posted in a member forum (26 June). Either that or someone logged into the SQL and changed it there. mookie Edited Member 'samurai nightling' account Today, 09:56 AM mookie Edited Member 'samurai nightling' account 22 May 2011 - 01:42 PM Fatty Edited Member 'samurai nightling' account 21 March 2008 - 09:51 AM
  17. Worms Reloaded is $10 on Steam, or $33 something for a four-pack. Just picked it up myself; haven't played Worms in years.
  18. Worrisome that you just posted that Tuscan is better than Mill. You may want to consider posting an overview of your WIP on Interlopers or somewhere.

  20. I can't actually find you being banned in my logs, but your ID is on the list so it got there somehow. I did find the last time you played (night of Tuesday 5/24), which is probably not a coincidence. The asterisks are not what appears in the logs. 21. Don't know much about L4D2, but try deleting clientregistry.blob and restarting Steam.
  22. Needs to have at least 12 valid spawns per team (map_showspawnpoints, all should be green except the one you're standing in). Needs to include a NAV file, or be able to generate one in a reasonable amount of time (can be a problem if the walkable area is very large and bumpy). If a counterstrike map, the hostages need to move around easily. Layout needs to be basically sound (bombsites not too far apart, attacking team has three or more ways to go, attacking team can reach their objective within about 30 seconds, not obviously unbalanced). Framerate needs to be reasonable (not appreciably worse than Nuke or Inferno). Obscene or offensive materials kept to a minimum.
