This is the first I've heard of this. I received notice around noon (central) that the server was being updated, but it looks like it has gone unused since then. I have just opened a ticket with NFO. I'm glad to have this posted, but there is no reason to be surprised that nothing's been done about it yet, since as far as I know this has not been mentioned to anyone until 15 minutes ago.

I'm skeptical of starting a ZombieMod or Zombie Horde (if that still exists) server based on past experience, that experience being that (1) these mods have been fairly unreliable, flaky, and poorly-documented, and (2) even after being successfully installed, these mods proved to be fairly time-intensive to set up in terms of map selection and mod configuration. If you're familiar with ZM or ZH (if that still exists) and can identify for me a working (stable) plugin version, a set of maps to use, and a list of good values for key cvars I can definitely set up a server. Although CSS Minigames and GunGame were only installed two months ago, unfortunately they do seem to be already completely forgotten by Zero and Allanon, and have been substantially unused. If anyone plays either of these games, I'd be happy to take suggestions for maps to add or reconfiguration to settings. Key thoughts for starting a new server for game X: It would be good if there are several members of the community (ideally some admins) who already play X several hours (each) per week or more. It would be good if X is actually fun to play with a small number of players, or, alternately, if servers running X are so scarce that the server will fill up very quickly.

Just got auto-upgraded to 3.6.16, and pretty much abysmal so far. Three crashes already just from trying to open websites. Maybe the plan is to make everyone abandon 3.6.

After receiving donations from a subsidiary of KV, the March of Dimes lobbied to have the FDA give KV a monopoly on a synthetic progesterone that can prevent premature births. The drug has been used for 50 years for various things, and currently costs less than $500 for treatment for one pregnancy. Now that KV has a monopoly on the drug, they plan to sell it for $1500 per dose, for a total cost of $30,000 per pregnancy. The March of Dimes claims that people who can't afford the drug will be able to get it paid for by Medicaid. So presumably the idea is to gouge the federal government for millions of dollars, and anyone who has a history of premature births and makes too much money to get on Medicaid is just collateral damage. It's good to know that the March of Dimes is looking out for the kids. * In case anyone's wondering, as far as I can tell, the research to determine the effectiveness for preventing premature birth was paid for by the NIH, not KV.

When they come back on the market, I'd go with either an Asus P8P67 (should be around $155) or a P8P67 Pro (if you think you'll want to run two video cards; should be around $190). Looking at price vs clock speed on the CPUs, I'd wait for these boards to come back out. The way I read it it will probably be a month or more though. If you don't want to wait, I can tell you that an i5-760 is more than adequate to run CSS up around 300fps, and if I had a do-over and was buying another motherboard for socket 1156, I'd go with this. According to Isias, who presumably knows what's going on, revote is not planned as a feature for Mani 1.2. It would be nice to have, but is not really worth changing admin plugins over. Revote is a pretty simple feature, since Mani already tracks who has and hasn't voted, so it seems like there's a good chance that it will get into a new version in the near future.

I have no explanation, but it looks like the stats daemon started running again. So probably stats will be working again. Not really sure if someone did something to fix them or what, but they stopped sometime back in October or earlier.

I'm still going to update, but it does look like the server has been running continuously since around noon central. How often has it been crashing?

I'll update all the plugins when I get a chance, but I haven't seen anything in the notes for L4D2 plugins that show any changes related to crashing. Could be coming from MetaMod or Sourcemod maybe.

I've seen this before on CSS servers from time to time, and it usually has not reflected any problems in the game. I'm watching it right now; the timeouts don't seem to correspond to any particulat event, and it seems like log lines still come in for me throughout which to me would indicate that the game is still going during this. Is there any in-game effect that you notice?

It's running now, without disabling any plugins.

No ID like that is banned, also it is over 10 million more than the biggest I've seen so it probably will not be assigned for 18 months or more (assuming that it's 0:1:50942906).

I was going to post that I don't think there's some kind of all-time mute list that Mani keeps, so you should be good now that the server restarts. But I checked, and there is! I took you off it.
