  1. Sr. Systems Support Specialist... basically they keep the title general so they can put whatever they want on my desk. Networking, Server Administration, SQL Administration, Desktop Admin, the list goes on... yeah, I'm busy all the time... and I'm underpaid... anyone in WI Hiring? oh, and I want to work where Pyro works!! sounds like a really interesting job.
  2. welcome to the forums... it's been a pleasure to game with you... save yourself the trouble and just join now.
  3. VIP... I'm confused... are you talking about VIP Maps?
  4. John was correct above... vista is nothing more then a glorified XP SP3 at this point... i just installed beta 2 released in December this week... not impressed at all. They did in fact take away the new file system, and a couple other "new additions" to Windows. I have seen some info pointing to an R2 of vista that will have the new file system and possibly a sp for vista to cover earlier versions for the new file system. Microsoft has already stated that Operating Systems will all have an R2 version now... and a new OS every 6 years or something to that effect.
  5. It's like buying anything else... never buy the first edition... I'll be waiting till I see the results... for now I will build the new system with currnet technology. next year I can build an AM2 or something to that effect.
  6. I pretty much have it made when it comes to my girl... eiither something for her motorcycle... or tools... yeah, I'm spoiled... this year it will be a miter saw I think... i feel for you guys... lol.
  7. oh man... lot of good info here... I was previously sold on the 4400+, but I will now consider the operaton 175. I am also going with the Asus MB that supports full SLI. I will be getting an SLI setup (same one dell puts in their XPS systems) for next to nothing... Dual 7800GTX, OEM though... but I can live with that. RAM, I will be going with the corsair 3500LL stuff. See the setup here: Next PC Most of those parts are coming from Dell since I do purchasing for the company I work for... I get a killer deal on most products.
  8. I would say you are doing the right thing by sending back the mobo my next box will be asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe 2 x 7800GTX SLI Config Antec Truepower II TPII-550 Corsair XMS 2 GB PC3500 AMD 4400+ x2 proc OCed to 4800+ speeds all of this in a Tsunami case.
  9. I would recommend an after market cooler/fan for your cpu if you will be overclocking at all... even if you aren't... one can't hurt... better then stock at least. Otherwise good to go... check the sata power connectors as mentioned above... My next system coming in late feb will be very similar to that... although it will be a 4400+ and will have the SLI setup using 7800GTX cards.
  10. I like the idea of the second one on server 2... 8)
  11. I'm hoping to play that game very soon... I am pretty lucky too... so I think I will be winning this year as well...
  12. My work environment has a 10 MB pipe.. my test results Download Speed: 7879 kbps (984.9 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 7539 kbps (942.4 KB/sec transfer rate) I wouldn't mind having this at home...
  13. So, I am feeling ambitious these days, and need a new desk. I don't want to spend 500 or 600 on one.. so I designed one that I am going to build. See the attached PDF and let me know what you think please. If you have any advice, it would be appreciated. I haven't done any woodworking since ... well I don't remember when the last time was. I don't know what kind of wood I will use yet, but I am thinking some kind of brushed metal or aluminum for the feet and support struts (or whatever they would be called.) Thanks all. Ben P.S. Yes, I stole the base design from available desks on the market. Visio_Desktop.pdf

  15. Also waiting for spring... hopefully I will be adding a 2006 R6 to my collection... we'll have to wait and see though. I'll try to remember to add in some pics of me on the race track tonight too... 8)
  16. If this person was a good friend at one point, I would say that trying to admend things is worth it. People make mistakes, we all have. It isn't easy to forgive. I would never advocate forgetting either... take it a step at a time, see if she is trying to work up to an apology. Even if the friendship is never rekindled, you will be a better person (and feel better about yourself) for giving her the chance to apologize. I'm also one that has been burned several times, and don't trust people all that much. BUt I always force myself to at least give the chance to the person to make a move... this may be her first move. In the end, it is up to you, but as others said above, life is truly too short to live with a grudge... allow her to apologize, and make a clean break if you so choose. If she doesn't say anything, lay into her about it, and walk away feeling good about yourself... just my 2 cents.
  17. Looks really good... that will be my next project... I'm just gonna steal a design from someone else... but building a desk will give me something to do this weekend probably.
  18. I will be building a systme with a 4400+ and sli 7800GTx cards within the next 2 or 3 months... depending... I will post back with results.

  23. Funny you guys are talking about this...
