  1. Here's my rig with a few shiny new parts: Asus P5B 965X Intel E6600 Conroe @2.4GHz Corsair 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 667HMz eVGA 7800GT CO WD 200GB SATA2, 16MB cache Antec Truepower 450W Lite-On DVD +/- RW Coolermaster Centurion ATX mid tower next step up will be fast ram, and a dx10 gfx card when they are out
  2. Ok, first off thanks once more to all who gave me suggestions, you guys rock. NOFX, I did try resetting my CMOS, and it did nothing. I switced out my piece of crap motherboard for the shiny new asus one for my sister's computer, and my beast fired right up with no problems. It was indeed a dead motherboard. (for the record, I first did this with the new power supply and my old cheapy, both times worked). I consider this unfortunate event as a positive, because now it give me an excuse to get a NICE motherboard and upgrade to some dual core action I'll probably spring for my own antec power supply too just for good measure. Thanks guys, I think I'm on the right track to solving this thing!
  3. It was giving me the same problem with the new power supply though as well. I'm going to try this asus motherboard with my original setup to see if it works. I'll post back with results.
  4. Yes, my original power supply was cheap, however I did plop in a new antec 400W (from my sister's build) and it gave me the same crap. I don't think it's a power supply problem, also because all the stuff turns on and the fans spin and such. I don't know what a popped capacitor looks like, but all of them on my board seem to appear the same. Is it possible for my board to be dead without any visual indications such as a popped capacitor? Thanks for your help!
  5. Thanks in advance to any who may respond to this. Today I installed an additional 1 GB (2x512) of identical ram (to go with the previous 1 GB 2x512 I already had). To do this I had to remove my video card, since it's long enough to block the ram eject tabs. I installed the ram, hooked the vid card back up. When I turn on the power, all the fans spin normally, and the computer makes the normal beep sound during boot up, but I get absolutely nothing on the monitor. Not even the boot screen. I tried to let it run and turned sound on to see if windows would boot and nothing happened. Here's a list of what I have tried thus far: - removing new ram and returning to previous "original" working condition - Switching original ram to different slots on mobo - replacing old ram with new ram (I tried 3 seperate sets of new ram, so it CANT be a ram problem) - tried a different video card (new ati x1300 for my sis) - tried using a different video card slot (mine has 2 pci-e x16 slots) - tried a different power supply I feel that I have exhausted every possibility that I have at my disposal. My only guess at this point is my motherboard crapped out, and I have no idea how that could have happened by just installing more ram. I DO have a brand new asus motherboard here for the comp I am building my sister, but I really really really don't want to remove mine until I get some confirmation that my motherboard has indeed passed on. Please give me a little guidance or confirm my diagnosis all you computer gurus, you fellow coalitionites freakin ROCK! Here's my system: P4 630 3.0GHz ECS 945P-A (v1.1) mobo <---------- it was cheap, i know.... 1GB (2x512) @ 533MHz Corsair valueram (tried 3 different sets along with originals) eVGA 7800GT CO WD Caviar 200GB SATA 3.0GB/s Lite-On DVD+/-RW btw, all this stuff was brand new last november
  6. I just wanted to mention the fact that tonight on scopeless I witnessed some of the best teamwork in a pub atmosphere ever. For at least 4 maps in a row I was on toolbear's team (and yes, i autoed every time) and everyone else on the teams were all WORKING TOGETHER! I tend to have a more dominant personality, especially in trying to organize strats for maps and stuff, but the game is 100x more fun when people decide to follow a plan and work together. Thanks all (especially toolbear) and keep up the sweet teamwork!
  7. Yeah, if thats the way your coverage works then you gotta jump through those hoops I spose. Good luck with it!
  8. Is the pain a constant dull pain in the joint, or do you only feel it when you move it? Pain when moving the joint might be an indication of something more wrong in there. If it's just a constant dull pain in your shoulder when you're not moving it as well, and you're still feeling it this weekend, then I would recommend consulting an orthopedist. Doesn't mean that you will need surgery if you see an orthopedic surgeon, but they can diagnose your problem if there is one and suggest therapy or something. Hope it starts feeling better without having to fix anything! Oh, btw, I worked for an orthopedic surgeon who specialized in sports medicine for five years, so I have something of a background in this. I'm no doctor by any means, but I've seen enough injuries to make a few general suggestions
  9. May I ask why you are selling after having it for all of 4 months? If you're upgrading already then thats an expensive habit I have that same card and LOVE IT. Had mine since November!
  10. First computer: Apple IIGS Disks only, no OS! The game: Wings of Fury. To this day, one of the most entertaining games I have ever played. If I could buy back that old computer, I would just to play that game!
  11. It is NOT impossible to get higher that that! 323.5! I took a screenie of it, but have no idea how to post it here

    Peckles!

That screenshot is one of the scariest things I have ever seen...
  13. I have started getting loss lately in gc servers which started a couple weeks ago maybe. It even got in the 40's the other day Previously (last month and before) I don't remember EVER having loss. In the last week or so I usually am getting 4-9 loss. It could just be my ISP stinks. I'll have to try a couple other servers though to see if it's a problem exclusive to gc servers for me though.... I haven't checked yet cause 95% of my playing time is in GC servers!
  14. You need to overclock an FX-60?? *glares at P4 630 in rig and shakes head*
  15. This is just my humble opinion. AutoCAD is probably one of the best out there for 2D modeling and is still being used by many companies for this purpose. If you want to do 3D modeling, the better choices are CATIA or ProE or something along those lines. One of my friends who is an engineer designing semi trailers uses Solidworks all the time. I know the aircraft industry loves CATIA. CATIA has decent 2D modeling stuff..... not great, but pretty good. It's a sweet program once you get to know it.... not quite as intuitive as some other programs but very very powerful. During my studies at Purdue I have been proficient (in some more so than others) with a few different CAD programs. Oh, BTW, stay away from IronCAD. IronCAD is teh ebil. ftl!
  16. Thanks for the recommendations guys. I'm thinking I'll replace the power supply here in the next week or so and see how that goes. Even if it's not the actual problem, wouldn't hurt for the future to have a nice antec power supply!
  17. Its weird that the speedfan reading could be so far off... My bios only gives me the readings for a 12V and 5V rail, seems like I should be getting more than that.
  18. Here are the specs for my el-cheapo PSU: Coolmax 400W +3.3V - 30A +5V - 28A +12V1 - 14A +12V2 - 15A I know this is el-cheapo that came with the case, so I would not be too surprised if this is the problem. UPDATE: I ran speed fan, and now I'm pretty confused.... My BIOS claims that my 12V rail is getting 12.132V and my 5V rail is getting 5.134V, but here's what speedfan says: Vcore: 1.37V +12V: 5.65V 3.3V: 3.34V Vcc: 5.07V Vin2: 0.00V 5Vsb: 5.07V Vbat: 0.00V Is this the cause of my problems??? If so I'm getting on Newegg as soon as someone confirms and am buying a stinking Antec 500W beaut.
  19. Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I know it's not a vid card problem, the card is new as of november, and I checked the fan and temps an hour ago and all is well. Never gotten a heat warning for the card (as I set it up to do so). It also sometimes reboots when I'm running non-graphics intensive apps, so I can rule that out. Is there any way to determine if something's wrong with my psu? I know what the ratings are supposed to be for it. They're right near the lower requirements of my 7800gt, but wouldn't I notice a more frequent problem than a few times every couple of weeks? I can sometimes play cs,nfsmw, etc for several hours and not have any problem at all, then have the thing reboot on me when I'm checking e-mail. Any suggestions as far as mem tests? I don't have any spare sticks of ram floating around (this is my only desktop and my first-ever build). I do have 2 sticks of 512, so I guess I could remove one and test them seperately... Thanks for your help guys, I need to solve this silly problem
  20. I've been having a problem for probably the last 2 1/2 months with my computer randomly restarting. I will be in the middle of something, then all of a sudden the screen goes black and it goes to reboot. No idea why. I could be playing CS or just listening to music and surfing the net. Occasionally when it does this reboot, the BIOS output says my cpu is running faster than it's supposed to. This problem is weird... sometimes it happens three times in one day, then it doesn't happen again for like a week and a half. Could this be caused by my crappy motherboard? Here's what I know/think: 1) I KNOW it's not an overheating issue. my P4 630 idles at 38C and maxes at 53C. 2) I know I am not getting any type or error or warning, it just restarts. 3) I THINK that my psu is fine. It's not a top-o-the-line psu, but its decent for what I'm running. 4) I know I did not spend $120+ on this motherboard. 5) I know I do not have any spare parts to "test" my rig with. 6) I am 99.9% sure I do not have a virus or spyware. I ran mcafee enterprise and anti-spyware and both came up with nothing. Any ideas what might be causing this? Unstable motherboard? Bad PSU? Other? I can probably afford to replace maybe ONE thing on this comp, but that would be it. Here's my system specs: P4 630 3.0GHz ECS 945P ATX motherboard 200GB WD Caviar SATA2 1GB (2x512) Corsair RAM eVGA GeForce 7800GT Lite-On DVD +/- R/RW Thanks for your help in advance!
  21. uhhhh, that would be its TAIL.
  22. somehow i find it fitting that peckles got a pony... and not my cool burnt and smoking egg!
  23. I dont have a specific map in mind, but something with deagles/knives would ROCK
  24. DUDE! I have to do that too! My fiance doesn't go for the gaming thing
