  1. Agreed. I totally cheated on Ash for Miranda with both my male Shepards. The ensuing cat fight in ME3 should be awesome.
  2. I took a while to warm up to Ashley, but if you sweet talk her enough it's worth it, and you can point out the error of her xenophobic ways. I kind of liked the challenge, cause initially she seemed a lot harder to romance than Liara. Also, I have three characters that I've played through fully for ME3, and NONE of those playthroughs will contain Kaiden. I barely ever spoke to that guy, so I had no problem blowing him up multiple times.
  3. Nothing has been wrong with the server to my knowledge, we just haven't had a lot of folks on the server recently. I include myself in this, since I've been pretty busy with RL stuff.
  4. That sounds like a good deal! If I didn't need to get this for xbox (and have the N7 Collector's Edition) then it would be tempting. I wouldn't mind trying BF3.
  5. Weapon stats!! THANK YOU!!! (i didn't watch the vid, but thanks for the "screenshot")
  6. I plan on doing a run with a new character through all 3 at some point, for now I'm doing one final run with my soldier (paragon) and one with my vanguard (renegade) to make sure I've done all the little things the way I want them for ME3.
  7. Title says it all. SO EXCITED! Only slight downer is that I waited too long to get the N7 Collector's Edition for xbox from Best Buy. Gamestop was equally sold out, so I had to order from Newegg and pray that I don't have to wait long after release day to get it. Never ordered a game from Newegg, let alone a pre-order so it will be interesting to see how they handle it. I popped in ME2 yesterday and got all kinds of warm fuzzies again from the spectacular opening scenes. I think this will be my 7th playthrough of ME2, and I might even squeeze in an 8th before ME3. Vanguard ftw. ETA: I have made a point to avoid most coverage of this game so as to avoid any possible spoilers, so please be considerate in here. I'm considering not even reading any reviews before I play it. This is going to be very hard, but I want to have no idea whatsoever what I'm getting in to, other than OMGREAPERSDESTROYINGTHEUNIVERSE.
  8. Diving back into Mass Effect 2, in preparation for ME3 next month. Hoping to get 2 play throughs in!

You'll love it, FK. I played through ME1 at least 6 times, LOVE the story. Gameplay is "good", whereas with ME2 gameplay is "GREAT". This is my 7th playthrough of ME2 right now.

Yes, it's THAT good. I have 3 characters, and played through all of them twice.

  9. I've had the E3000 for what seems like a couple of years (may be less) and have had no problems with it. I don't do anything too fancy with it, and besides the occasional reboot (very occasional - once every couple of months maybe) it's been great.
  10. Great, I almost spent TENS of minutes on this thread, and you're bailing. Have fun studying! Look forward to doing this all again in 6 months!
  11. Please note: the graphics card I recommended is a GTX 560, NOT the GTX560 Ti. The Ti's run around $220-250 (the one I listed was about $180), which would have put him over budget. I don't think there is a big difference in performance. The reviews for the card I listed indicated it can run SWTOR at max. I believe that the 560 requires one 8-pin PCIE connector, which I doubt your current PSU has.I think I would lean towards getting a new PSU as well. Corsair is my personal brand of choice, and if you're going to buy a new one I would say TX750 would be the way to go. You could get away with a 650 though if price is a big concern.
  12. If we're talking about replacing the motherboard, processor, memory, graphics card and power supply, that's a really tight budget for upper-mid range performance to last you a while. Without the power supply, I pieced together some parts, and for just under $600, you could get: Intel Core i5 2500k (unlocked multiplier=free and easy overclocking) ASUS P8Z68-V LE LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL EVGA 01G-P3-1460-KR GeForce GTX 560 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card This would be a rock solid bang-for-your-buck set up. The only potential problem is if your power supply needs to be replaced as well - set aside another $100 or so for that.
  13. This is a really good point I should have mentioned. The gigabit part of a new switch will only really be effective if the "main" switch for the network is also the same speed. Setting up the Linksys router like Amertrash described would work just fine if you don't/can't have gigabit speeds. I would also make sure to disable to wireless while you are in there messing with the settings. In the long run, a simple switch would probably be the way to go. (or wire another wall outlet near the printer!)
  14. I've seen a couple of pretty gnarly network setups in "professional" environments (switches after switches after switches). I like ZD's advice: get a gigabit switch. It will be the simplest solution, and act as simply a pass-through for the traffic instead of running the risk of unintentionally adding a DHCP server to a static IP network in an AD (which could happen with the Linksys router you mentioned). Are the other "art computers" near the main one/printer? Or is the printer only near the "main" one and you just need the printer and that computer to share a wall outlet? If that's the case, then a simple 4-port gigabit switch would be all you would need. Plug it in then forget about it.
  15. I RARELY was low on ammo, almost never was without when I really really needed it. I did not play on the most severe difficulty though. As far as "make it like RE1,2,3", and keep in mind I never played them myself, but wasn't a HUGE part of the "horror" and tension a result of the fixed camera and horrid controls? I think if some parts (probably the Leon S. parts, from the looks of it thus far) slow it down a little, reduce the volume of enemies at a time and lower the available ammo count, it can bring a little more tension and fight or flight back to the game. Also, I want to be able to move while I aim/shoot. At least as quickly as I could in Dead Space1/2. ETA: As far as I'm concerned, they should lift the Dead Space experience and slap it into the RE world. Those games control beautifully, and (particularly with DS1) paced the enemy battles/ammo counts perfectly.
  16. This looks older than 1996. This game sucks. I'm clearly old enough to be "aware" of these obscure games, but I didn't have a computer on which to game until I was in high school (save a brief stint with an Apple IIGS and Space Quest 1&2)
  17. ugh, I really want that copy of SR3, but I have no friggin idea where you guys are getting these. Serves me right for being a console gamer, I suppose.
  18. I would like a compromise, in that they add movement while aiming/shooting, but maybe cut back on the ammo supply a little more. Looks like it might be heading in this direction, as at one point in the trailer it looked like Chris slid into cover while in a firefight.
  19. Resident Evil 6 has been announced, with a 3+ minute trailer to boot! I got a lot of enjoyment out of RE5, even though it was a departure from previous titles. This looks like it's going to be an interesting mix of gameplay.

  22. Go for the new map. I LIKED my current location, but I wasn't in-like with it. I do plan to hop in the current one to witness the hilarious chunk errors. Good times! Also, I demand my diamond collection be transferred. (ok, just kidding about the last part) (not really) (well, kinda kidding.)
