  1. It has decent specs. i-5 8 GB Ram 1TB HDD Nvidia 1060 3GB Is it worth it? edit: found it at Walmart, I'm guessing it's part of their Black Friday deals that didn't sell.
  2. Hey everyone, With all the strides in technology these past few years my PC has become somewhat obsolete with respect to gaming. Even though I don't play much anymore I still want a PC that can play those big games should I chose to dive into one (which will most likely happen). My brother was kind enough to design a system for me. Let me know what you think! CPU - Intel Core i5-6600K CPU Cooler - Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO Motherboard - GIGABYTE GA-Z170X-Gaming 7 Memory - G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series F4-2133C15D-16GVR DDR4 2133MHZ 16GB(8GBX2) Memory Kit Graphics - some yet-to-be-determined version of nVidia GeForce GTX 1070 Storage 1 - Samsung 850 Evo 120GB (OS drive) Storage 2 - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB (games drive) Storage 3 - WD Black 2TB (WD2003FZEX) (data drive - optional) Optical Drive - Asus DRW-24B1ST Case - Fractal Design Define R5 (Black) PSU - Seasonic X-850 I am by no means your typical computer guy who keeps up with all the latest tech so I'd love to hear from those of you who do! Thanks X

  4. So I'm deciding to cash in some of my PTO and I got the ok to build a new rig. I'm thinking no more than like $750. I'll most likely reuse my power supply, as well as the case, but I'll need everything else new. Is there anything new out there I should know about? Should I move into DDR4 or is it just too expensive for my budget? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  5. As title says I'm looking for a new PC on the cheap for my daughter.(Birth day is Sept 26th) Its something I think she would enjoy very much exp with some simple games and clipart software. I was thinking something that would be able to maybe handle mine craft ( offline). It would only run on weekends for the most part so ........ how about this ( its a refurb which kinda scares me but I'm going cheap here) http://www.amazon.com/OptiPlex-745-Desktop--Complete-Computer/dp/B00JX01KSO/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1441896349&sr=8-9&keywords=desktop EDIT: I may get her something else for her birthday and buy a PC and a newer gen console and split those gifts for her and her brother for christmas.
  6. Give me some direction. I'm going to use my old build as a flight sim, the new one is for CS, BF4. Looking to spend around 1k. Thanks in advance..
  7. Hello there everyone today I would like to introduce my plans for my first budget build. In about 2 weeks I'm going to be ordering all of my parts for this build and it will be my first! My budget is $700 -750 (including Accessories) so this is what I have scrapped together with that price range. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/LHNrf7 I'm just looking for opinions and such for my build maybe some tweaks if you have a good suggestion. I want to leave plenty of room to upgrade though and that will be my summer project probably. (The wireless adapter is only temp until I can wire ethernet through my house).
  8. Hey everyone. It has been an incredibly long time since I've done anything on the PC side of gaming. However, I've built a new gaming rig, and on my end, it's working great, but thought I'd share it with everyone. {Motherboard} ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z {Processor} AMD FX 9370 Black Octacore {RAM} Kingston Hyper-X Beast @ 2,133MHz 16GB (2dimm) {Cooling} Corsair H100i GTX {Additional Cooling} 8x Corsair SP120 (120mm) Performance @ 2,350rpm {Graphics} XFX Radeon R9 290X 4GB {Audio} Soundblaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty PCIe card/front I/O {Case} NZXT Phantom
  9. I have around 800- 1000 bucks to drop on a PC. PC only. I don't need anything else just the tower in its entirety. Windows 7 wold be nice but not likely I understand.
  10. Post by JKap on 36 minutes ago hello, your friendly goat here in need a bit of help I want to get a graphic card and im willing to spend about 200$ is this a good card? www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202049&cm_re=4GB_video_card-_-14-202-049-_-Product my specs for my gaming rig Asus M5A97 R2.0 AMD 970 ATX MB = motherboard AMD FX-6300 SIX CORE 3.5GHZ 14MB 95W AM3+CPU =CPU LG 24X SATA INTERNAL DVDRW OEM + basic DVDrw drive CRUCIAL 2GB DDR3 1600 MT/S (PC3-12800) X 2 = 4 GB = ram sticks Corsair CX Series 600 Watt ATX/EPS Modular 80 PLUS Bronze ATX12V/EPS12V 552 Power Supply CX600M = power supply Antec Gaming Series One Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case = computer case
  11. So I have noticed that I haven't upgraded my graphics card in four years. I bought Elove recently and it crashes because the CryEngine does not support DX10 cards. Now I am looking for an decent card for about $150.00 or so. Any suggestions?
  12. I have been putting this off since, well lets be honest..since source came out. I want to run the route of upgrading my mobo, processer and ram for sure. Maybe on the graphics card if I have the money. Budget is to stay under $700 but I need to buy a new router with that cash as well so lets round down to $600. I have absolutely zero experience with Amd products and have always been an intel/nvidia monkey. Current specs: Asus P4ad2-e premium mobo Intel P4 3.4ghz single core 3gb of ddr2 Evga nvidia 9800 gt I just replaced my power supply last year and shouldn't need a new one regardless of what I add and my case is a monster with enough cooling to handle anything.(I had to because of how much heat the original p4 produced after they first switched to the socket T). And gooo!
  13. So, my current build is from like early 2008. I know I'm in desperate need of an upgrade, but I'm not entirely sure I can afford it all right now. So I'm asking your opinions. The build currently is as follows: Intel Core 2 quad Q9550 8Gb DDR2 1066? EVGA GTX 260 896mb 500Gb HDD 850 watt Antec modular PSU So I'm really just curious if you guys think buying solely a new graphics card at this point will improve my performance? I could use it in my new build as I get more parts, but I didnt know if you thought it would improve it very much or not with the rest of the stuff. I have a new build on Newegg where i keep my case and PSU, but replace everything else for just shy of $700, but to me thats still a lot of money at once at this point. What are your thoughts on what route I should take?
  14. I am so low on a budget it isn't even funny. Being a college student is tough. I can't even find a job because they're all taken, AND I gotta focus on my schoolwork. However, at the very least, I want to start building one slowly. What do you guys recommend I get first, and move up from there? I think if i slowly work on it, i could get it. I'm set on a mouse, keyboard, and an adapter for a monitor or 2, but I want to know what i should start off by getting from there
  15. If you were to buy an SSD, which and why? Memory size - only need to install Windows 7 and a few programs. My old, regular drive would be for games. I want to hear people's opinions on brands so I don't buy a brick! Thanks!
  16. Yo, Just made an order at Newegg for my next computer. I decided to go Intel/Nvidia this time around. Due to AMD being just completely overpriced right now. Also, I've got to start into some video editing in addition to a nice gaming rig. Here's what I've ordered thus far. Intel i7 4770K MSI Z87-G45 Motherboard G.Skill 16GB DDR3 2400 Corsair Hydro H100i Liquid CPU cooler Cooler Master Haf Xb Evo Case Rest of the parts I will be ordering: MSI GTX 770 Video Card Samsung Evo Pro 128GB SSD Corsair TX750 Power Supply Windows 8 Already have: LG DVD R/RW Drive Seagate 1TB HHD Should be able to get the rest of the parts in the next few weeks. I'm excited. S.
  17. I am finally going to get a decent computer and Chick will also be getting a new one as well. Though if anyone has any great build or part ideas I would love all the help I can get. I have a budget between $2000-$4000. I am looking for the best bang for the buck so doesn't have to max out that budget and that is per computer so up to $8000 for the pair. Both myself and chick have such awful comps that is isnt worth trying to upgrade so just needing to build from the ground up. Any help would be greatly appriciated.
  18. I have been looking to upgrade our home entertainment system. This is what I have come up with so far. Some components may change I will try and keep it updated. Case: Hec 7K09BB Black Motherboard: MSI FM2 AMD A75 (Hudson D3) Micro ATX APU: AMD A6-5400K Trinity HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1600 OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit Extras: LG Black Blu-ray Drive Perixx PERIBOARD-717, Wireless Remote Keyboard with Touchpad Total Cost: $500.92 (not including shipping) If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them. Haven't ever used AMD APU in a build before so any help with that would be great. Another thing is would it be worth moving down to 1333 or should I stick with 1600 in terms of RAM? Is an SSD necessary in an HTPC build, I have seen a few more recent ones with them included but they were only for boot speeds and I am not worried about that since this will idle a lot.
  19. While I'm here asking questions today. What's a good AMD CPU & Motherboard these days? I haven't kept up with all the changes. What's a good Vid Card also?

Any feedback or suggestions would be helpful. I have plenty of time to change things up, I am planning on it being a birthday present to myself in February Thanks, Shaftiel
  21. I have been using Maximum PC for anything Computer related for about a year! I saw the old sticky for building a PC and although useful is very outdated just thought I would add something new and improved with realtime updates and new builds for each month with 3 options (Budget, Baseline and Performance) http://www.maximumpc.com/tags/buildapc
  22. Yo, So, with my next build I'm going to dive into the world of liquid cooling. I'm most likely going to play it safe with a Corsair H100i for my first attempt, but I want to get some tips from anyone here who have built their own or have any experience. A quick Google search lists a lot of forums and sites and I've bookmarked a few for future reading but if anyone has a trusted source or guild that they would recommend I would appreciate it. S.
  23. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA1ZY0K71724 I am considering buying one and playing around with it. Maybe even trying to make a media center PC with it. Has anyone played with any of these little PC builds?
  24. Have not been paying much attention to latest developments so went on Dell and did a config P.Cs Alienware Aurora i7-3820 10MB cache overclocked to 4.1, Win8, 8GB Quad channel DDR3 at 1600Mhz, 1.5GB GDDR3 GTX 660, 1TB serial ATA 3 Hard drive $1,343.99 shipping included 2nd option Dell 8700, i7-4770 8MB cache clocked 3.9, Win 8, 16GB of Dual channel DDR3 at 1600Mhz, 1.5GB GDDR3 GTX 660, 2TB 7200rpm SATA Hard drive $1,103.99 shipping included (now with the i7-3820 having 2 times the bandwidth of the other processor and also the Quad channel DDR3, I am assuming the extra $200 is worth getting the Alienware Rig?)
  25. Hey folks, I have a frankenstein computer I built that has been running pretty well for 6 months, but now won't power on. Here's the story. I installed a new Sandisk 64gb SSD about 3 weeks ago. After about a week, the computer randomly completely powered off while in use (web browsing). Now the computer isn't booting anymore. When I power the computer on, the side, top, and front chassis fans and all HDDS and SSDs and the GPU powers on. However, the rear chassis fan (which is the only one plugged into the mobo), the cpu fan (which is plugged into the mobo), and I'm guessing the cpu is receiving no power. Any ideas on which component is shot and how I can test things? Barashin
