Never been to Bruno's so I couldn't compare it to Favazza's. I have only tried 3 places on The Hill, Favazza's, Mama Campisi's and a 3rd I don't remember the name of. The first time I went to Mama Campisi's was my first date with my girlfriend. There was a "crooner" (Frank Sinatra type) there singing live and we sat outside and watched the neighborhood while being serenaded. I have to say that the atmosphere on The Hill is like a New York borough from the '50s. Well worth a visit to ANY restaurant there.
  3. The statute of limitations on spoilers dies after a year. It has been a year and 4 months. No excuses about "I'm waiting for the movie" either because people who wait for a movie when they could read a book deserve to have spoilers thrown at them. Also...Dumbledore Does It Every Saturday. (that's a spoiler too!)

I'm a donk, yes the Botanical Gardens is amazingly beautiful. I meant to ask if you could tell me what company you are doing the work at this week. My girlfriend works a few blocks from the Arch and her company is doing an IT Audit currently...it would be really weird if you were the one doing it.
  5. I totally dug up this topic because I was trying to see what team mohawk played for and I discovered that the Islanders website has him listed as 4 foot 11 and weighing 275 pounds. HA! fatty. Is that why you hate soccer now? Too many twinkies?

If you can find the time, go visit Forest Park. The Zoo, the History Museum, The Art Museum, The Jewel Box, Art Hill, The Worlds Fair Pavilion, etc. Except that this time of year during weeknights, everything closes around 5pm...so...get off work early. I recently went to the History Museum and saw some of the images from the Worlds Fair in 1901 that was held here...and the buildings that they built were ASTOUNDING. It seriously looked like ancient Rome in its heyday. Sadly, nearly every single one of those buildings was torn down because the city couldn't afford to keep so much land unused. They actually charged (and made $$$ off of) admission to watch the buildings be torn down.

So until this whole "St. Louis BBQ" thing was discussed...I wasn't even aware that other people didn't bbq porksteaks like they were water. I've had bbq porksteak my entire life. Heck, I remember manning the grill for a school bbq when I was 14 years old and having 20+ porksteaks going out every 10 minutes or so. If you're in St. Louis you must try Toasted Ravioli, Ted Drewe's, Porksteak, Imo's AND Cecil Whittaker's St. Louis Style Pizza's.

It is best sport ever. (actually Australian Rules Football is, but so few people have seen that game that it's an invalid argument)

Yeah...it's called "find a better sport!" But seriously...find a better sport.

Oh yeah, and the St. Louis Zoo is free as is pretty much anything in Forest Park. Museums, art galleries, etc. You're from New York right? Forest Park is bigger than Central Park and has a TON of things to do...though it is probably better on a weekend than during a week night.

I live in the area. Here are my suggestions: Slay's on Zaytoon for the best gyro I've ever had. If you like Italian food you MUST go to The Hill in St. Louis. Specifically Favazza's. You also can't leave St. Louis without trying Ted Drewe's frozen custard. I also recommend taking a walk around The Loop in the evening for great atmosphere and restaurants. What business are you in town for?
  12. Gizmodo.com did a nice price comparison on laptops and the results might surprise some people. Seriously folks...go buy the previous generation of Macbook Pro off of Amazon right now. You probably won't get a better deal on an incredible product in your life. The koolaid is yummy!!
  13. I used to play Quake 2 with the grandson of Eugene Rowe (the Doctor on Band of Brothers) it's one of the best WW2 shows to ever come out.
  14. Calm before the storm. Yes, I AM a doomsday profit.
  15. Serious question. What about your experiences have you liked or disliked? Would you say you like OS X better than Windows? Linux?(distro?) Let me know plz!
  16. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! When the hardest to convert are converted the rest are close behind. I feel evil glee. Evidence of his conversion.
  17. New one I accidentally discovered: Apple Key + Tilde (~) alt-tabs between windows in the current program. So say you have a popup open in Firefox and you want to switch to it, Apple + Tilde does that while Apple + Tab switches between programs.

    Gyro's!!!

Microwaving the pita prior to bending it did not produce the desired results. (i.e. it broke) Feta = good cheese. Where is "wat"?
  19. Not true. I do my .Net programming on a Lenovo T61p that work provided for me. Ok, occasionally I launch Parallels and have myself a copy of TinyXP2 running so I can do some .Net programming on my Mac...but I feel guilty whenever I do. I'm trying to find time myself for learning php.
  20. So Apple released new Macbooks and Macbook Pros. They're awesome and all...but this means DEALZ!! on the old ones. 2 days ago there existed a $2,500 Macbook Pro. Now you can get this model on Amazon for $1,650 (after $150 mail-in-rebate). If you are smart(er) you can get this exact same laptop refurbished through Apples website for $1,500 with no mail-in-rebate. Refurbished is the way to go. Spec-wise these things are barely a step down from the newest MBP's (2.5ghz process, 2gig ram, 512mb video card, etc) Now is the time to buy into the cult folks!! (ask ZD...he is getting his Apple tattoo on his left buttcheek next Tuesday).
  21. As a Microsoft .Net programmer...I recommend learning php. That is all.
  22. I had a pair of Plantronics that were usb-powered (didn't use line in/out). They worked great....the only problem with them was that I couldn't figure out how to get the sound to stop coming out of the Macbook Pro's speakers as well. Was awkward for the first 10 minutes when I used them in a coffee shop.
  23. But I was 100% right on Apple stock. Too bad I don't have the cash to invest. Last week - $85/share Two days ago - $110/share Today - $90/share SOMEONE INVEST IN ME!!! I WOULD MAKE YOU PROFIT!!! On a different note. What stocks are most likely to recover first? Things like food companies? Car companies? Technology companies? Pigs? What?
  24. I told people to invest in Apple last week when it was in the mid $80's. Not one person I told listened to me (except people who didn't have the money to invest) and now it's sitting nice and pretty at $110 a share. I wish I had money to put in the stock market...
