    I have a nvidia 6600 gt and my tv is a 20 inch sanyo I got last year for xmas, I have a good portable dvd player that I think can play everything if I burned it, but getting those cables sounds like a good idea. I just have onboard sound with my lanparty mobo so I dont know how good that is.
