Latest Steam patch breaks CS

If you have steam open, keep it open until Valve fixes it. People like Bean and myself can not get CS to even load up.

That's a lot of deleting..how about just a renaming? I just happened to have logged off steam earlier to finish my preloading blah blah...ooops.

Correction to above, it doesn't fix it. So no cs for me until this is fixed.

i logged on updated and played, then logged off. Still works.

I logged on, it wouldn't start.

 

Then I renamed my dir and it worked...had to re apply my configs and do my video, but it worked.

My ping on the server browser is fine, but once I connect to the server my ping goes from the normal 50ish range and slowly works its way up to 1000+. Anyone else having this problem?

Things for me aren't running smoothly, i feel like i'm pinging high, but my ping is the same. I dont' get it

Well I just got done screwing around with my rates. I had my cl_updaterate at 80, and now my ping stays up at 2000 unless I drop it to 20.

It was only breaking for users with custom models.

No, mine isn't working and I have no custom models at all. My other account seems to work though, I can use that but, it won't help me in cal... go steam!!!

Can someone tell me why my settings do not stay? Why my favorites always disappear and my check box for "Auto Switching" is always enabled when I start CS even though I always turned it off before closing Steam. I've had this problem since before this latest update and my config.cfg is not read only. Anyone?
