Rashad March 11, 2006 Share Rashad Member March 11, 2006 Marine biologists are uncertain what the hairs are specifically designed to do. However, research teams speculate that the hairs might serve as a way for the crustacean to collect bacteria which it then feeds on. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/4785482.stm
Saris March 11, 2006 Share Saris Member March 11, 2006 Ya, I saw that a while ago. That's pretty gross, I hate crustaceans. I remember seeing somewhere a percentage of all the discovered marine life, and remember it not being very high (mostly those which are deep in the oceans. AKA the huge scary buggers)
Shazz March 11, 2006 Share Shazz Member March 11, 2006 I seen this thing on Yahoo. Looks like a Tick on Steriods. The tick would be Barry Bonds in the late 90's...And this thing would be Barry Bonds Today!

AKA the huge scary buggers) We try to explore the depths of outer space when we haven't even explored the depths of our own oceans. Interesting how they can send a robot to Mars, but have yet to see what is really in our deep sea. I bet thats where the aliens are hiding. That yeti crab looks delicous. TheReverend(c) March 14, 2006 Share TheReverend(c) Member March 14, 2006 Maybe the hairs are like a cats. To detect whether or not its body cann pass thru narrow openings. As for that pic of the deep sea angler.... Id shoot it several hundred times.
