Yeah, I hate when programs mess with my computer, trying to 'help' me, and end up breaking something. It's why I never use firewalls or anti-virus programs. Haven't bothered with Windows SP2 either.

TC is basically a new system being developed to allow content servers to provably guarantee that any particular client is running certain software, and that their content can only be read by that software.

i.e. No QuickTime, no Realplayer, no service. Really.

There's the link.

Pass a bill to make it illegal to manufacture products that aren't TC conform!? LOL!!! That's like saying, 'HEY! I just made this new car by these standards so that people can't drive over the speed limit! Anyone else who doesn't from now on, will be put in prison for objecting against me!' Who do these people think they are?

Actually, that's a bad example, cause stopping people from speeding can be good. A bunch of greedy fat cats looking for more money is not.

This looks like a big problem and people should click on that above link and read it carefully. The one thing I DON'T see happening, is that bill passing - which the whole thing wouldn't work if it didn't - who, in their right mind, would allow these companies to create a law just so they can get their paws on more money and butcher the technological age as we know it today?

How is a bunch of Americans going to stop Sony(nvm, sony's on there...losers.....GOOGLE WILL SAVE US!!) from releasing non-standard machinery?

/end pointless rant cause it will never happen but it still ticks me off that they try

I just made this new car by these standards so that people can't drive over the speed limit!

I think this has been done. IIRC some cars will cut fuel somewhere around 112mph.

that will be a sad sad day for me... when i'm flooring it and i'd just be going 45...

I did the same thing once Z3RO with a GMC Safari...but the "govener" kicked in at 185 km/hr...needless to say it gave me quite a scare...I quickly learned to not go over...I hope I'm not incriminating myself too much...

You are being political...should have said "Without being too political"

Hijack!

Speed limit of 112? Where do you live? j/k, I wonder if this number will drop over the years based on legislation or car manufacturers covering their butts?

There was no hijacking involved nor was politics involved. I do not see how capitalism

has anything to do with this topic what so ever. That is my point.

Anonymo is correct, TC is nothing more than the result of capitalism running wild. It's a scheme developed by hardware and software companies to give themselves an edge when it comes time to give content providers what they already want (the ability to dissemminate information on the Internet without making it free).

This has nothing to do with politics really.

That is my point, it has nothing to do with politics, though discussion of capitalism is associated with politics.

I disagree with the opinion that this is the result of capitalism however. The result of capitalism will be the consumer not buying the products and forcing the manufacturers to not use this technology. The result of capitalism will be alternatives that give the options that the consumer wants.

the 1994 bonneville shuts off at 110, slapdash's dad has one and the engine just turns off.
