mookie May 16, 2006 Share mookie GC Alumni May 16, 2006 (edited) Anyone else started using this yet? I picked it up a week or so back because of some map downloads being 7z files instead of zip or rar, and it's nice. It seems to compress a lot better, and doesn't give any of those stupid pop-ups every time you open an archive. I finally decided to just give WinZip and WinRAR the boot. Ice_Berge_00 May 17, 2006 Share Ice_Berge_00 GC Alumni May 17, 2006 I've used it for some of the custom Maps that we get but otherwise haven't touched it much. Interesting program.

Goofus Maximus May 17, 2006 Share Goofus Maximus Member May 17, 2006 I just use ZipGenius. It's free and it unzips 7z as well as many other formats.
J. Dunlavy May 17, 2006 Share J. Dunlavy Member May 17, 2006 I think WinRAR is a solid, SOLID application. 7zip is great though. Most n00bs keep sending me zips, though, and I tell them "Don't you know RAR files have higher compression ratios?" and they vomit from stupidity. I see mo reason to switch from winrar...but I don't really use it that much anyways...
Cobalt May 17, 2006 Share Cobalt Member May 17, 2006 I still use winRAR personally but 7z is a pretty good alternative if you don't have winRAR
