The job hunt continues!

So while I'm doing marketing consulting to the extent that I can find clients, I'm also doing a lot of landscaping! When I moved here last year I wanted to buy a truck and plow snow in the winter and cut grass in the summer. Well, lot of financial liabilities when I got here so it didn't happen. But I did talk a buddy into doing it. He got the Chevy 2500HD with the Duramax diesel and performance chip, plow, a DixieChopper 60" that can cut 8 acres/hour and all that stuff. So we go and cut grass, spread mulch, retention walls, landscaping rocks and stuff.

I got picked up by an online division of a university out in Colorado (don't get to go out there :( already completed training and orientation and I'm scheduled to start teaching Business Management in a couple of months) but it is a part time job where I'll do it in the evenings and weekends. I like to work and make money! (I used to wash trucks for FedEx at night while I was a professor at Purdue)

But for the past month or two I have been sending out beaucoup resumes! So if you've got room on your list, pray, cross your fingers, or send positive energy my way. I need to get back in the game and build my savings and 401k back up pronto!

Heh, marketing is what I do! I got the teaching job as my second job...and when I have time I will continue to do landscaping. I like to stay busy and make money...which is somehting I haven't done for over a year since I came home to take care of my mom. I'm applying for marketing/communications specialist jobs for a full-time career. Everything else is just how I spend my free time when I'm not gaming. :boing:

I started sending resume's out in June and finally got a job offer yesterday with a Huge company Hillman Fasteners.. I go in on friday to hammer out the details, but they offered me way more money than I thought I could get.. I still have 2 more interviews this week with different companies though.. Just keep sending out resume's man, you'll find something eventually..

2 things, first one's sad and funny...second is a promising lead!

DOH! My buddy got called for a reference check and they were asking character questions about me and they asked if I had any flaws or character flaws or something and he said I was having problems with women and hadn't had a girl friend for a year! lol I can't believe that...

2nd is that I called my old boss from Chicago on his cell phone and left a message to let him know I'd put him down as a reference and to make sure that was cool...so last night at 2 or 3 am the phone rings and it is a wierd area code and I'm thinking it's my ex calling again cuz she sometimes does and I go back to bed. Wake up this morning and it was my boss obviously. Anyway he's out in Vegas and working on cool stuff like the convention center and those what happens in vegas commercials and stuff like that. He said to let him know if I'm interested in a wild opportunity out in Vegas so I'm going to follow up on that today! Maybe I'll be carpooling with moss next year lol :stretch:

GL Buddy! West coast is awesome, anyhow I'm out in vegas at least once a month playing. As far as jobs go, AZ is growing leaps and bounds every year and is growing outward so fast. I'm pretty sure it would be easy to get a job out here, the radio is filled w/ this place and that job convention. There is alot of work to be found out here

well, i got hired as an adjunct professor of business management for colorado tech, but it is through the online program and we'll just keep our fingers crossed that they need me in about 2 months for the next term. To be at a Research 1 university like Purdue I'd have to have my PhD to ever get paid the big bucks and before I ever do that I want to win some more awards and do more corporate stuff. All my favorite professors weren't just book smart they were hooked into the real world. So I'd like to work and then teach on the side to help fix my credit and finances after this past year and a half.

Forward, march!

Well, that went very well I think. I had good to great answers for everything and he only asked me a few questions in less than 30 minutes. My old boss from Chicago co-manages with this guy so I think it is a formality. He said they'd get back in a couple of days and are looking to move pretty quick on this.

My ears are ringing! Gainful employment will be mine! :biglaugha:

Is this the vegas job? If so sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! I'm only 4.5 hours away, and I'm out in vegas quite a bit. I see in our future many nights at the mandalay bay watching the ufc fights and getting silly drunk!!!

In my interview with the big boss he was telling me that he has already started having conversations with a bunch of the brass for the UFC and we started talking fighting and I'm hoping that I can be part of the business pitch and work that account.

Regardless, we'll definitely be going to some fights for sure!

I am flying out Monday morning to go and meet everyone and look for housing. Thanks for everyone's support. It took less than one week to go from 1st call to getting the job, and I'm sure that everyone had a big part to play in making it happen.

Spooky fact:

It was almost exactly 7 days from my first post to the time that the HR lady called with the offer. 7 days and a few hours until I negotiated the final package. :halo:
