How would you feel about a weekly RTS night, and what night would be good?

So how would you feel about starting a weekly RTS night? There has been a rush to create more community events and I thought this would be a great new way to expand. RTS is a genre that a lot of people here seem to agree that they like, but usually has taken back seat to FPS. So I say, all those who love playing RTS come out and let's zerg it like it's 1999 .

I'm having a tough time imagining what this would actually be. A thought for a game (actually TBS) that might be fun is Worms.

There's no "Monday" option. Also, there needs to be a "Mon-Thursday" or "Any day of the week" option.

I took off monday on purpose, but you're right, there should be an any day of the week option. However, I would like to do a different one each week, so not just the classics, others ones which people haven't heard of too much .

Let's keep in mind that a lot of us don't have copies of a large number of games. Even if some of the older RTS games are down around $10 it'll be cost-prohibitive for most people to buy a whole bunch of different games.

Yah good thinking, the goal should be to get the most people to play and have fun, not further people's expensives

Meatwad, I'm trying to get together a group which would play games which everyone in the group had. If say 2 people don't have Warhammer 40k then we won't play it, or maybe at least on a different night.

Is Dawn of War really decent? I played the demo of it way back, and for me as a player of 40k and Starcraft both it doesn't live up.

Yes I think it's either a year or two old. They are coming out with a new pack called Dark Crusade which wil have the necron and one other race.

Dawn of War is the closest modern game there is to Starcraft....

 

It's pretty good, really, and I'm critical of RTS games because I loved Starcraft and WCII so much. Check it out, it's well worth the investment. The multiplayer runs VERY smooth, unlike some other RTS's (C&C Generals, for instance).
