shep48 September 12, 2006 Share shep48 Member September 12, 2006 Here's a photo taken of a helo rescue mission in Afghanistan. The pilot is a PA National Guard guy who flies EMS choppers in civilian life.
w8t4time September 12, 2006 Share w8t4time Member September 12, 2006 do you think the pic is from a person standing on the mountain or from another heli?

Chimmpp September 12, 2006 Share Chimmpp Member September 12, 2006 That whole thing looks like a model to me. But props (no pun intended) to the pilot if that real.

I remember a higher res pic of that. Its not fake. its flown by a delta force pilot if i remember right. There is a video floating around the internet of 2 delta force pilots showing off. They are insane. I doubt this is a fake

Chimmpp September 13, 2006 Share Chimmpp Member September 13, 2006 Basically....any of a class of heavier-than-air craft that are lifted and sustained in the air horizontally by rotating wings or blades turning on vertical axes through power supplied by an engine. Poo. There goes my idea to power a helicopter with goodwill towards men. I guess I'll have to call it something else now.

Tracid September 13, 2006 Share Tracid Member September 13, 2006 I think the pilot is using no recoil hacks to hold the chopper steady.
Chief September 14, 2006 Share Chief Member September 14, 2006 Photo probably came from another chopper in support.
shep48 September 14, 2006 Author Share shep48 Member September 14, 2006 Origins: In November 2003, a U.S.-led coalition launched Operation Mountain Resolve in the Nuristan and Kunar provinces of Afghanistan in order to disrupt anti-coalition militia (ACM) operations and prevent militia members from seeking sanctuary in the rugged Afghan provinces. The above-displayed photograph of the precarious-looking rooftop landing by a CH-47 Chinook helicopter (which began circulating via e-mail in December 2003 and started making the rounds of the Internet again in August 2006) was taken during that operation by U.S. Army Sgt. Greg Heath of the 4th Public Affairs Detachment. Although the text that accompanied copies of this image sent via e-mail in 2006 suggested the activity shown therein was part of an effort to evacuate wounded coalition soldiers, the photo actually captures the Chinoook helicopter touching down to receive Afghan Persons Under Control (APUC) captured by members of the U.S. 10th Mountain Division.
