Tek-Almighty August 30, 2007 Share Tek-Almighty Member August 30, 2007 http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20070...-beta-more.html Hmmm... I have good instincts. Depending on the validity of this, I just may have to try Vista sooner than my "1 year waiting period."

ZeroDamage August 30, 2007 Share ZeroDamage Member August 30, 2007 I am using Vista now and it is ok. I still hate many of the menu and icon location changes.
Kruten August 30, 2007 Share Kruten Member August 30, 2007 I'm content with it. Been using it since beta besides occasionally not knowing where something is, I have no problems. I need to get another gig eventually though.
Lunk August 30, 2007 Share Lunk Member August 30, 2007 My biggest issue with Vista at this point is getting it to work with my home network. Just can't seem to get it to share or install the network printer I have.
Tek-Almighty August 31, 2007 Author Share Tek-Almighty Member August 31, 2007 i just read a really good article online (I will try to re-find it) that studied the FPS loss in some of the new DX10 games when played in DX 9 on Win XP versus DX10 mode in Vista...Most of the time (same resolution, AA, AF etc...) they were seeing FPS hits of 20-45% when switching to DX10 and Vista. I wonder if that is vista problem or the added hardware strain from DX10 or a NVidia driver issue (none of the games would run with the AMD/ATI cards and current drivers). In my heart of unhappy hearts, I wish Windows would just accept that Vista was not/will never be the gamer's first choice and that the 5 year wait was not worth it...Then they need to cave and release DX10 to the masses, just like they do/did with DX9. ZeroDamage September 1, 2007 Share ZeroDamage Member September 1, 2007 The early games did DX10 as an after thought just to say that they are dx10 and the awful performance showed that. Bioshock on the other hand saw very little of a drop and it performs great on dx10.
