bushwack January 16, 2008 Share bushwack Member January 16, 2008 I played earlier this evening but got disconnected when the map changed. I can join other severs and play. So I reboot my comp and still no go for the Efficacious. Still I can still join other servers and play. What gives? Why all the custom maps too? Can we keep the reg maps in rotation also? I'm still a noob in this game and just started getting used to the default maps. Fix it.

hyperactiveChipmunk January 16, 2008 Share hyperactiveChipmunk Member January 16, 2008 I was wondering why you were spamming the server with join messages tonight. You're the only one it's happened to, but I'll check the logs to see what I can figure out. And as for the custom maps, low player-counts are woefully under-represented by the default six. When the server dries up for one reason or another, I have to switch to customs to keep the games fun for those of us who are keepin' things rolling. Call it server triage. Tonight it was a combination of a clan rolling in and destroying everyone, causing a bunch of people to leave, then leaving, themselves, and a TF2 update. With the server down to 2 people in prime-time, I turned to the small maps and within an hour we were back to running full-tilt. It wasn't until tonight that I put the first third-party map--cp_labor--into our regular cycle, as a result of the way it was received and the contribution it made to getting the server filled back up. I had the server on manual for a few hours tonight to keep it spinning, but don't worry. You won't see any drastic, sudden changes to the regular line-up. >8) I don't know how to convince you, but you'll have to trust me that I am doing whatever I can to make this server good. All I can ask is that you give me some time and make the judgment for yourself in a few weeks. Remind me if I haven't gotten back to you by tomorrow evening about your server problem. -hC

When I would try to join the loading bar would get about a quarter of the way and the a little grew window would pop up and say "disconnected". All seems well now, must have been a glitch last night. And Chipper, do whatever it takes to keep the server populated or there will be no cake.

Fatty January 25, 2008 Share Fatty GC Founder January 25, 2008 When you join...is your game already running? Or are you seeing a free slot, then double clicking the server, waiting for TF2 to launch...etc...if another guy or two connect while your computer loads the game, it will show full. If you're getting a "server is full" message, that means that NO slots are there, and the server is waiting for others to complete their connection before it can ID them as NOT a reservist, and then dispose. If you're getting booted for a reserve, then there's something wrong. I've double checked your STEAMID once more, and it's in there like the others. My guess is the former. Now, when you get disallowed, your TF2 should be running. Refresh the server list, and when you see a slot available, type retry in the console immediately....with your game already loaded, your connection to the server should be nearly immediate. Let us know what happens then.
Fatty January 25, 2008 Share Fatty GC Founder January 25, 2008 As I typed to you while in game (you may not have seen it), mani views you as a reservist.....so all is working serverside.
bushwack January 25, 2008 Author Share bushwack Member January 25, 2008 First time it showed 1 free slot open so i clicked join. The bar loaded about half-way then i got the nice disconnected window. It did that several times. Then it showed the server full so i click join and put it on auto join as soon as an opening is available. It then did its auto connect and about halfway loading it gave me the boot again. I waited a few minutes till the server was 25/28 and then had no problem joining. I guess me and someone else is joining at the same time but for some reason I always loose.

mookie January 30, 2008 Share mookie GC Alumni January 30, 2008 (edited) The server config is nondeterministic. cfg/mani_server.cfg and cfg/mani_admin_plugin/defaults.cfg execute simultaneously, leaving any CVARs set in both in an unpredictable state. Sometimes, mani_reserve_slots will be set, and sometimes it will be clear. I'm not really sure that this is the cause of this problem, but it might be. Right now a better guess might be that it's because mani_reserve_slots_include_admin is clear. Or it could be something else. It's a little surprising that no-one else has reported being dropped like this. If you can claim that your Steam ID is not STEAM_0:1:8233279 there might be a simple explanation Edited January 30, 2008 by mookie

hyperactiveChipmunk February 1, 2008 Share hyperactiveChipmunk Member February 1, 2008 I had a hunch that mani reserves weren't working properly. I'm going to see what I can do with SourceMod, and use a local sed script for now to translate the mani config to a SM reserve list. I'll have to update the list manually when new reserves are added, but for now, I think I can live with that. I'll keep you updated on my progress. -hC

That's really non-intuitive, since the vars include ordinals in their name. That may or may not do what you want. This issue is sneaky, because it doesn't always show up. Normally the configs will run 1-5 right down as long as all you do is set CVARs. If one of them blocks though, it will switch to another. If you run a config of server.cfg it branches and does exactly the same thing. The normal way to set up Mani's admin plugin is to edit mani_server.cfg, which you may as well do, since it doesn't actually contain the default values of the CVARs in it anyway. hyperactiveChipmunk February 1, 2008 Share hyperactiveChipmunk Member February 1, 2008 It will do what I want--I broke down and added that line to the bottom of the mani_server.cfg. No matter which of the ones loads in any order, the defaults.cfg will always run after mani_server.cfg. If it re-executes mani_server.cfg sometime after, it will still exec defaults.cfg as the last command. -hC
