auggybendoggy April 8, 2008 Share auggybendoggy Member April 8, 2008 Guys, is the Q6600 worth its weight for 190.00 smackers. I'm on a e6600 and it's pretty good. I'm wondering if the q6600 will help speed things up a bit? I mostly do 3d animations for wedding videos and video rendering using Vegas 8 pro. Any help would be appriciated. TheGeek April 8, 2008 Share TheGeek Member April 8, 2008 Where are you looking? I found it the cheapest at $200 I know a guy who owns this CPU. He saw a noticeable difference in speed from a E6600 to a Q6600. Good article http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/11/08/dua...quad/index.html
Preacher April 8, 2008 Share Preacher Member April 8, 2008 you will see a lot of benefit in video editing but the e6600 is pretty good for most other junk.

I think if others saw a big dif from e6600 to q its worth 189 bucks I've got 89 credit on my cc so I'll have to shell a 100. software is so wierd, my 3d animation in xp home 32 1 fame = 54 secs in xp 64 1 frame = 15 secs thats the 3d prog (carrara) on vegas pro there is no difference in xp home and xp 64 wierd... Whatever the case, I'll grab the q6600 at 189 thanks for the help guys Aug
ZeroDamage April 8, 2008 Share ZeroDamage Member April 8, 2008 preach, frys has it on sale for 189 right now. Not online the last time I checked. This came up when the guys at the Nvidia forums crapped all over my thread when I was selling mine for 175. I checked the Frys (Outpost) site and it was 259 (as of yesterday). Preacher April 8, 2008 Share Preacher Member April 8, 2008 He does video editing so he'll see an increase. ZD went from a high end system to a business dog PC lol. He just toned down. I just game so I went with the e8400 and it OCs like crazy on stock cooling and no voltage increases. I would seriously recommend the e8400 for anyone who isn't folding or video editing. I had the original revision of the chip and it ran too warm for my setup. It's also over kill for the minor stuff I do and the occasional game that I play doesn't use all of the cores.
