TheGeek April 27, 2008 Share TheGeek Member April 27, 2008 I've been trying to figure this out. When trying to connect to my friends computer over our network I get a "Connect to (username)" And I have to enter an User name and Password to get into his computer. BUT the thing is, he didn't set that up, so trying to connect to his computer is impossible. Its driving me crazy! How do I disable this prompt from his computer? mookie April 27, 2008 Share mookie GC Alumni April 27, 2008 You need to log into an account on that computer. If there are no accounts set up, you are confused, because there are.

TheGeek April 28, 2008 Author Share TheGeek Member April 28, 2008 You need to log into an account on that computer. If there are no accounts set up, you are confused, because there are. My friend was in the administrator account. Turns out he had another separate account. He logged into that, problem solved. BUT the box asking for the password still pops up. Do you guys know how to get rid of that?
Playaa April 28, 2008 Share Playaa Member April 28, 2008 You get rid of the box by logging in successfully and having clicked the "remember" checkbox.
Gond April 28, 2008 Share Gond Member April 28, 2008 You are on your computer and you get a connect popup to his box? If so then you are most likely trying to use a resource on his box...either a drive or a printer. Remove this mapping and you should not be prompted anymore. anonymo April 28, 2008 Share anonymo Member April 28, 2008 Wow...I definitely do not want to have to explain how to fix that in text. Sorry geek.
dwEEziL April 28, 2008 Share dwEEziL Member April 28, 2008 Your friend needs to set up a local account on his computer for you. Then when you're prompted for authentication, use the account he made for you.

dwEEziL April 29, 2008 Share dwEEziL Member April 29, 2008 64 or mac, it doesn't matter. It's a matter of authentication. At the very least, just install and set up Hamachi.
