Your Most Powerful Music

The problem with most R&B, House etc is usually that the majority of the time there are no musicians (especially percussionists/drummers) it's all done by machine, Turntables; but even that is a mockery as most of studio work required to produce around 75% of the tracks is done on a computer using fruity loops software, a far cry from it's birth in the 1940s.

I was at a house gig not two weeks ago with a live drummer playing at the back of the dancefloor. There are tons of live house drummers. And even if it's not "live", there is plenty of skill involved in composing electronic music. You don't need to be a virtuoso instrumentalist to be an amazing composer. I'm not going to try get you to like techno if it's not your thing - lots of people just don't like the sound of synthesizers and that's okay - but it's just as valid music as anything else.

I quite enjoy techno, have composed and performed in many clubs (give me a couple of days & I'll post some). The main problem I have, is with the banality of music the record industry imposes on society (just to make money for themselves) makes it difficult for any artist to thrive outside the commercialised culture.

I did compose the piece - 'Silent Thoughts' a Symphony for the Soul. If you found that soothing, try the 2nd Movement

Something a bit different, but it's a song I keep coming back to over and over again Opeth's Blackwater Park. Phenomenal live version recorded at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

Stick with it through the break that starts at the 2:50 mark, or thereabouts, drift away with the melody until the crushing blastbeat finale brings it all back home.

Simply exquisite.

hmmm, powerful music... To me that means music that brings up a certain level of emotion or nostalgia. personal example?

As a hobby i'm a singer-songwriter myself, but haven't been able to compose anything truely touching i must shamefully admit.
