JackieChan March 16, 2013 Share JackieChan GC Alumni March 16, 2013 I'm done with Simcity. I no longer have access to my city anymore in GC Redux. It keeps failing to load, but people can visit it no problem. I guess some sync problem happened when I was trying to save my city. I'm going to return it to Amazon since they are allowing a refund. I'm not about to sit on the phone all day just to talk to EA and hope they can fix my city. This crap is ridiculous. Pardon the wall of text, but this is my chat transcript with EA's "customer support". Their only solution other than over-the-phone support is to just make a new city. That's brilliant! I couldn't have figured that out myself! Good thing I contacted support to get that awesome piece of advice! https://dl.dropbox.c...50/easucks.html

So many petitions, bugs, reports and terrible PR...i bet we will be hearing about court cases soon and the end of Maxis hopefully EA is so banged up with this game! Their forums are full of requests of help, nothing bloody hell works.... Raging here too btw, built a city with petroleum trading...come to find out global trading and many features related to it are disabled lmao, so that they could reduce server load..........what am i supposed to do with 8000 barrels of fuel, feeed it to the sims ??? I am not returning it, but i wanna keep it in hopes that all this bad PR will actually make them fix stuff, and maybe in 3-5 years it will be good to play..... Madvillain March 16, 2013 Share Madvillain Member March 16, 2013 Let me know if the game finally works in 3-5 years Avengers, it might finally be worth its sale price by then.... Glad I didn't grab this at launch, friends outside the GC community are having issues with connecting (like Jackie) and crashing ~10 in to game every time. This a Diablo 3 is a large sign that Publishers who are also Developers just want money, they dont truly care about quality. Dont you dare say "they'll patch it later", on launch it shouldnt be as buggy as it they were. I am not talking about "Oh they didnt have enough servers ready". Be wary of what you buy that sold well in the past or is held at high regards. I guess you could lump Xcom, but it didnt sell as well as these two juggernauts. This why I mainly buy Indie games or games not develop by a large studio, they mainly have the mind set of 90's developers, "Better make it good, or I wont be making another game again". I do blame the todays game industry of "fix it later with patches", shouldnt be allowed.
Girlzilla March 16, 2013 Share Girlzilla Member March 16, 2013 (edited) Game's very fun and playable for me. Some of the glitches are hilarious. I had a Godzilla disaster in my city - he breathes flame, but when he finished and is supposed to sink into the earth and be gone, his fire breath just kept going. It wasn't doing damage but it wasn't supposed to be there. Lol. I call it my "living flame" attraction! Considering no one here makes games for a living - that I'm aware of - how about some patience. What game in the history of mankind doesn't have bugs, and how many of us actually know the amount of collaboration and work it takes to make a game? It has to be a labor of love for some people on some level. Edited March 16, 2013 by Girlzilla

Avengers March 16, 2013 Share Avengers Member March 16, 2013 Well i am still playing the game, and yes it would be alot of fun, but the fact that Simcity was released before these bugs were fixed just marvels me...It seems at times, this game is still in beta. I want in the GC Redux region...
Pronouncemyname March 16, 2013 Share Pronouncemyname Member March 16, 2013 I am trying my best to have fun, and the game has so much potential to be amazing, but there are so many bugs and errors, its killing it. Plus EA flat out lying about so many things doesn't help either. Maybe in a couple of months things will be improved. I purchased from Target so I can't get a refund anyway, I must have hope Or we could all use that debug mode thing that modder found and hope EA doesn't ban us...

I think EA was expecting it to sell a couple of million copies. From what I understand, it sold very poorly compared to past Dead Space games. Oh, and lol @ Simcity 4 being on the list of free games. JackieChan March 18, 2013 Share JackieChan GC Alumni March 18, 2013 Nuts to this. I'm going through with my refund for the game. Thinking I would give the game one last chance, I called EA (again =\ ) and after almost 3 hours of being on the phone, still nothing could be done. Their "specialist" is escalating it to "studio" (whatever the crap that is) to investigate it and it's going to take... wait for it... 10-15 BUSINESS DAYS. What the crap is this? What am I doing, waiting for an over-seas package to arrive?! This is by far the WORST game launch in HISTORY. First they have pointless stress tests which even then don't help with accounting for the volume of people wanting to play and they finally funnel in traffic to other servers 2-3 days after launch. Now people are having constant issues even loading/saving their cities and having rollbacks causing even greater issues. For what it's worth, Simcity is a good game, but it was handled and executed the poorest manner possible. To the people who are sticking with their copies and/or are forced to, have fun beta testing a game for the next few years.

ValenAlvern March 19, 2013 Share ValenAlvern Member March 19, 2013 (edited) This is by far the WORST game launch in HISTORY. I think Diablo 3 still holds that title. Also even though it can be made easily to be played offline, they wont do it because "its not our vision to play offline" http://www.polygon.c...line-experience Did they forget Sim was short for Simulation, and that its fairly enjoyable to play offline. "We made an MMO, it wouldnt be fun." This why I hate a lot of top developers now. EDIT: I didnt even buy this game and Im tinkled off.
