wow... i remember my one and only bomb threat.... strike that there was another bigger story involving explosives that I'll save for another time, lets just say I almost got my donkey blown up. anyway... My freshmen year of high school, early spring(it was still cold) i was in the cafeteria having lunch when the fire alarm goes off and our guidanace counselor comes bursting in screaming "EVERYONE OUT NOW HURRY!!!!" which starts a panic and we all rush for the doors... I think it was the fastest full school evacuation in history. 30 seconds from the alarm everyone was out, except for a small contingent of people that went back to their lockers to get their coats and a football. So, outside freezing... we find out it was a bomb threat and that the police were going through every locker witht he dogs and such. about an hour and a half later (I was wishing I had gotten my coat and brought my lunch with me) they let us back in the building and the whole thing was disregarded as a prank. The call was traced to the pay phone in the hall way about 30 feet from the Office... turns out there wasa big Government test that day that the seniors weren't ready for... they called in the threat wen to go get their smokes, books, and what ever else to do outside, while the rest of the student population froze. the test was postponed. <looks back at post> damn... I wrote alot more than I thought I would.

Contrary to popular belief, actually paying for your software is the cool thing to do. Nothing being "stuck" about it! Hmmm, after you're done, does this mean that I'll be low man on the pole running at 850 mhz? Well, if I could geta legit copy of Windows XP for free then I wouldn't have to buy it now would i I've had plenty of offers from friends "oh you can use my copy if you want" I just don't want mess with it. I'm the one that'll somehow get caught and get sued for $150,000 per mp3... sorry I digress... is 850 MHz the low for the community? I figured there'd be someone out there about the same as me at the 650 mark or 700.... I know thats where Chief is until he can get some new memory sticks Homey... I really want to go for it, but I am trying to keep the dinero down, so I'm making little sacrifices everywhere... no DVD, I'm goin with onboard sound, 512 MB RAM instead of a GIG... but thanks for the input. Hey everyone! Hope all is well with thy computer hardware... mine ain't performing as well as I'd like... my poor HP Pavilion P3 650 MHz Piece of crap just doesn't quite meet my computing needs anymore.... Having watched Mag build his (or I should say Gunny and his pal) I'm turning to you guys for suggestions of what I should get. Basically I want a machine that I won't have to replace for a LONG time that will satisfy all my gaming needs... I don't need a monitor or any of the peripherals... simply the case and the inner workings therein... mobo, powersupply, Processor, HD, CD-RW, Graphics card, etc. etc. Looking to keep the price under $1000, and I hope to build in June at the latest. Thanks in advance for all the help! Here's what I had in mind as far as specs: Mobo: no idea here... mag and Chief have given me a little insight into what I want, but I have no real experience with this Power supply/case: again not alot of experience here, but I don't really care about looks, so long as its big and roomy. (my current "tower" is impossibly too small, and I can't fit cards into the slots with out being worried about frying wires) Graphics Card: ATI or Nvidia... ah the question continues... I'm leaning towards a nice GeForce4 Processor: Again kinda clueless... thinking a P4 somewhere above 2.4 GHz... perhaps the highest they got out, if its not too expensive. Is there a significant defference between the P4 and the Athlon? Hard drive 80 Gigs I guess is the goin norm... any particular brand better than another? CD drives definitely want a burner... LOL... yeah he's a biggun... I think the first time I actually realizd I couldn't kick his donkey was when I came home from college my soph year... (he was a Senior in HighSchool at the time) and we were fighting over who got the couch and the remote... he got fed up... picked me up off the couch and threw me about 4 feet on to the floor... while I was still in shock he grabbed the remote and took the couch. very humbling moment for me... ..especially when the only word he said at the end of it all was "mine". But he's still as slow as an Ox so as long as I have room to manuever my whole "dance like a butterfly and sting like a bee" theory holds... in tight quarters... I simply grapple onto his back and go for the sleeper (ref. Man in black vs. Fezzik) J/k we rarely fight... he's a giant teddy bear and nicer guy than me.
