  1. I guess I may be one of the very few people who actually really likes this map. I know what people say about the camping is to some degree true, but if CTs actually make an effort to get into the house and rescue the hosties it does speed it up a fair bit, too many times do they just run around outside not daring to enter the house until there's only 45 seconds left in the round.
  2. I guess I've been beaten to it on the ideas front, it'll teach mo for leaving the door open after he's given me my food. Probably very similar to the map survivor thingy, thought it had been mentioned somewhere before but thought the idea had pretty much died a death.
  3. Just a thought and I have no idea how practicable it would be. Custom map night is a great success, always has been, and I have no idea how difficult it is to change a map cycle on a server, so...... My thought, is there any way that at the end of map night, we could run a poll in here that ran for 24 hours of the maps from the previous night. If there's a clear winner, we add it to the rotation for a week, then the following week replace it with the winner from the next week. Again, I don't know if this is doable, an administrative nightmare, or been done/tried before, was just thinking about it and thought I'd post.
  4. I see that some of the stats have now updated, so I was browsing them over lunch. Looks like someone needs a 5 key (think that's autojoin). Autojoin Disclaimer: this isn't a dig at anyone, I just had a giggle to myself for a few minutes and thought I'd share.

  6. I had the model's disappearing issue, but never in such a funky fashion. I only had the problem with one particular video card driver, when the later one came out, and everyone since then I've never lost a Hostie (or CT or T for that matter).
  7. Thanks for creating the little place on the internet that I call home (when I'm free to get on a server). Lev
  8. Went to see this on Saturday with the lady wife, great movie not at all what I was expecting. Greg Kinnear and Pierce Brosnan work excellently together (anyone who has seen the Taylor of Panama will have an idea of the kind of role Brosnan was playing). Would thoroughly recommend it as a change of pace from the usual Hollywood rubbish. It does have a lot of cursing and some rather "adult" moments so not for some of our youngest readers and there are some genuinely hilarious moments. 4/5 Brosnan: Come on! It'll be a good time! Kinnear: Oh, so now killing people is a good time? Brosnan: Can be.
  9. If I'm using my wife's pc (happens occasionally if I'm encoding something on mine) I use my Logitech MX500 (she has one of those trackball thingies) bought in March of 2003.
  10. I don't know if it's the same issue but I had some problems with CSS when trying to run it over my LAN with 3 pcs. It was definitely the issue with the external IP address, i.e. the other pc's wouldn't see the LAN game or if they did there would be an invalid or expired steam ticket issue. The temporary workaround I used was to set up the server on 1 pc after I'd checked the external IP (just did a google "what's my IP search") and got the others to connect as if it was an internet game through adding it as a favourite. I have no idea if this would work with 1.6 as I've never run it on a LAN, but this did fix the issue with CSS, and if it's a Steam issue only I can't see any reason it wouldn't work.
  11. Having had every intention of attending for the first time, it transpires that my brother in law and his wife are expecting their first little one on July 8th (timing). If the munckin arrives early and my wife and I are back from Cali, I'm assuming that I can buy tickets on the door (overspill space) but if not I guess it's roll on 2007. Can't really decide whether I should be happy or sad about his news
  12. I used to play a bit of Q3, and from the single player of UT2004, seems similar style wise, I'll definitely get it online over Christmas.
  13. I've had UT2004 for about 3 months now, I must try some online play, lol. The holidays are coming, sounds like a perfect opportunity.

Mitsubishi Diamondpro 17inch CRT monitor I'd also like to know which site Bones built that on before he posted it, I'm not sure he needs 2 cases even though it would be a beast of a machine
  15. Exactly my point Wayfarer, it wasn't one sided, I think it was 5-0 when I joined however, and it was only through 2 or 3 of us working together we got it back to the 10-7 final score (although you could say that about any map).
  16. I don't think I've played in a couple of weeks, but just to add my thoughts. Compound was on one night when I joined and I think it finished up 10-7 or something which wasn't too one sided. It was the first time I'd actually played it without scopes and in all honesty I really liked the map, there was a reasonable turnover of non-regular players, but the server stayed pretty full. Just my thoughts, I wouldn't even mind if it was just on during the week and not weekends or something, but it did make a nice change and taking out scopes made it a much more even map. Havana is a nice even map thought, but from my experience in the past it's killed the server, none the less, I'm certainly up for mixing it up a bit and getting some different maps on there (I think Italy's been played to death, it feels like it comes on as every 2nd map at times).
  17. Haven't had to try it, I just run it back through a VCR/DVD Recorder, which is by far the easiest way if you have the pleasure of owning one. But there are a couple of things that I want to port straight to my PC so I may give the firewire option a whirl later today and see how it goes (off the top of my head I have the same DVR unit)
  18. Looking forward to seeing it, the books are great and my stepdaughter is starting to work her way through my copies I got for my 7th birthday, so we're making it a family trip.
  19. Mrs. Lev and her work colleagues are also voting.
  20. Have voted at work, will do so at home and passing this on to a few people.

  23. Don't know Bones, but, depending on exchange rate you used all those cards seem to be cheaper on overclockers.co.uk than your prices. May be worth looking on there to see what else you could afford. Overclockers AGP
