  1. Last update, in case anyone cares. This thing just reached the goal and is getting funded! Incredible! Is 2013 going to be the year of the grand return of adventure games?
  2. I'll get it fired up tonight and I guess start plowing through solo. I'm easily addicted to loot hunting stuff (see my previous addiction to the mediocre Too Human), so I'll put in some time on this. Once I get the account set up, I guess I'll put my info in the battle tag thread, in case anyone decides they aren't already bored with this game. At least I got it for $30 instead of $60!
  3. Bump, in case anyone else cares. 26 hours left, $25k left to go! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/spaceventure/two-guys-spaceventure-by-the-creators-of-space-que
  4. It figures, my copy arrives today and the whole GC community is already tired of it and moving on to something else.
  5. Apparently there usually is a big surge near the end of the campaign - people upping their donation at the last minute or new people jumping on in hopes of putting it over the top. I'm still hopeful. SQ6 was good, but you really ought to back and play the others, in order. SQ1 and SQ2 were parser based, and pretty difficult, but man was it fun figuring out what to do, where to go, etc. ProTip: "look" at literally everything you possibly can. Typing "look" followed by "around" or an object name will almost guarantee you won't miss an important item. SQ4 was the only other one with Gary Owens narrating, and he was great in that one too.
  6. They have stated they have him lined up to narrate, yes. It's a little ways down on the kickstarter page description. Here's the roster of voice talent that have said they will be involved: Gary Owens - Narrator from SQ4 and SQ6, voice of Space Ghost, Laugh-in, and many many others in a long and distinguished career. Rob Paulsen - Pinky from Pinky and the Brain, Yakko from Animaniacs, Raphael the Ninja Turtle, and multiple characters from Monkey Island among many other characters he has voiced. Robert Clotworthy – Jim Raynor from StarCraft 1 & 2, Senator Evran & Supreme Chancellor from Star Wars: The Old Republic, and Narrator of The History Channel’s Ancient Aliens series, Big Bang Theory, etc. Ellen McLain - GLaDOS from Portal 1 & 2, Overwatch from Half-Life 2, Administrator from Team Fortress 2, Witch from Left for Dead 2 and many more. John Patrick Lowrie - Sniper from Team Fortress 2, Sword Control from Halo Reach, Citizens from Half-Life 2 and author of Dancing with Eternity. I must say, the Gary Owens thing kind of clinched it for me. SQ5 always felt like something was missing since he wasn't there. Also recently, the SQ2 VGA remake from Infamous Adventures came out. They did a GREAT job with it and I enjoyed a few of the tweaks they did, but the narrator guy was trying, and mostly failing, to do a Gary Owens impression. Everytime he was speaking, I was doing a much better Gary Owens impression in my head. **In case it wasn't clear, this IS NOT a new Space Quest game, it's a new "SpaceVenture" that will have all the DNA of SQ, just no Roger or other characters/locations. Apparently the SQ IP is owned by Activision, and they aren't interested in selling at the moment (or are asking a stupid amount of money, not sure which). Maybe if this campaign succeeds and the game makes a bunch of money on release, they can get Space Quest back and make a new one?
  7. This was the first and last time using EggSaver shipping. Ordered on Monday and still not here. I'm used to getting my egg stuff in 2 days!
  8. This spiritual sequal to Space Quest seriously needs to happen. Old-school adventure games rock.

  9. I know most people are probably kick-starter'd out at this point since everyone and their father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate (bonus cookie for anyone who gets that reference) has one these days. BUT! Do you love adventure games? Were you raised on old-school Sierra point-click or (even more older-schooler) parser adventure games? Particularly Space Quest? The Two Guys from Andromeda are back together and are making a new game. I never thought it would happen, but when I found out, it was the most awesome piece of news I've heard this year. Check out their kickstarter page for some details on the project they are planning. I freaking loved the Space Quest series (I still do, I have them and DOSBox on this machine). It basically introduced me to gaming and taught me how to type. I just pledged to the project to help make it happen. There are only 4 days left, and they're still a little short of the goal. If you loved these games as much as I do, help make this happen! P.S.: sorry this felt a little sales-pitchy. I don't normally post stuff like this, but this project means something to me and I wanted to make sure this community was aware. At the moment, the project still needs more backer help!
  10. Well, I done did it. Ordered my copy and should have it by the end of the week. Will post up tag once I get it installed. I usually prefer my first character in games such as this to be a tanking type, so if anyone wants to roll with that at some point, let me know.
  11. Playing Dark Souls this weekend, successfully navigated BlightTown ready for the boss. Not paying attention while loading save, so I accidentally deleted it. 15 hours gone. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

    Griefing

Whatever happened to San, anyway? I realize I haven't been on the server in a long time as well, but dang, dude fell off the map.
  13. The Dead Space games are right up there on my list of all-time favorite games. The atmosphere is incredible! I went back and read the old threads on these forums for DS1&2, got some LOLs at the memories of those experiences. Yuri - The BEST way to play the game is to turn off/dim the lights, crank the volume, and get sucked into the atmosphere. In your case, I suggest turning on every light in your apartment, and taking it easy on the volume. Or I suppose you could crank it and have your crazy neighbors think someone is continuously being murdered in the most violent and horrific manner possible. I must say though that surround (or at the very least headphones) is required for this game. Too much crap be sneakin up behind you, yo.
  14. All the looting in this game has piqued my interest. Having never played a Diablo game before, would this be something relatively easy to jump in on? If I jump in late, will I be too far behind the rest of GC to play with you all? Is co-op "required" for a fully enjoyable experience? Thanks for the feedback folks.
  15. Say what you will about Netflix streaming selection, but if you are the type of person who gets great enjoyment out of TURRIBLE horror films, then it's a gold mine. I love a GOOD horror film, but I enjoy really, really, really bad horror films almost as much. All you have to do is go to the horror section of Netflix, start reading descriptions, then pick the most outlandish and hilarious-sounding one you find. Instant 80 minutes of hilarious entertainment.
  16. I own both of these games on console. I still spent a few minutes considering buying them again on Steam for $5. They're that good.
  17. I'm somewhat surprised this name hadn't come up until now. However, there's no way I would think about fighting him. How does one prepare for an opponent that could do literally ANYTHING? Shouting urban poetry while throwing little cheese knives at you? No thank you.
  18. Selling my GTX570, have a look in the for sale forums!

  19. SOLD! Thanks guys! I'm looking to sell my gently-used EVGA GTX 570 Superclocked, WITH BACKPLATE. Supposedly the backplate helps with the cooling, but even if it doesn't it looks darn cool. I don't NEED to sell it, but I kind of want to as I'm upgrading some other stuff now that life things have calmed down. It's worked flawlessly since I installed it roughly 8 months ago, and hasn't been further overclocked or otherwise abused in any way. Since I got busy during much of that time and neglected my gaming rig, I think it probably has a total of 150-200 total gaming hours on it (in other words, about the amount of time you have spent with Skyrim). I still have all the original packaging and such that came with it, and had it registered with EVGA upon purchase. Asking $275 $250 $225 shipped. Thanks for looking, folks. p.s. - INB4"CIPC": YES, it can play Crysis on Ultra settings as well as Batman:AC(with physx enabled and high settings) among other things.
  20. Thinking about selling my GTX 570... anyone possibly interested?
