  1. my day was worse, trust me. network operations department for a wireless company, we are ripping an old vendor from the network, and replacing them, we are changing cell sites all over the city of cleveland (and suburbs). and people obviously have problems, particularly people bordering the line where we changed/havnt changed yet. I spent the day calling people who submitted trouble tickets. Please realise our company demographic is "urban youth" who do not have the credit for the major carriers wireless plans. And since i grew up in the neighborhoods this is affecting, i know the area very well. I got cursed at and had to listen to peoples story about her friend said this, and her cousins couldnt call blah blah blah... I dont normally talk to customers, thank god i got my years of retail under my belt, becouse otherwise i would have snapped at some. I worked for two weeks straight, got one friday (yesterday) off now have to work for two more weeks before i get a day off. The pay here is nice, alot better than anywhere else I think i could work. And I love my normal daily job, I just hate customers. You pay 47$ a month to talk unlimited throghout the country, you never leave the coverage area becouse the buslines dont go beyond that. Yet one day you get dropped calls and think i personally care your changing companies? thats fine. I would have chosen to not hear you call me names I cant repeat on here though The best perk of the job is I can force my callerid on my cell to be 13371337.... (would just be 1337, but there is a charecter limit on it) /done ranting... //for now.
  2. The biggest issue I have with the update is not so much as the dynamic weapon prices albeit they do suck. It was the change of the buy menu, as well as the elimination of purchasing ammo.
  3. Got back to work at 11:00pm. ugh. Stupid upgrades that need to be done in the maintenence window... /tired.
  4. My problems with XO continue...
  5. Yeah, seems there are benefits for working at a smaller company though. I get to have my hands in a little of everything we do here, so I get to learn alot. Im still too new in the industry to be highly usefull except for a lacky, but with time I should be a valuable asset. Did my first major mistake late last week. took down a few sites by accident, since two were microwaved off and sharing same t1. I took the first guy in the chain offline by mistyping some information in the base station database for a different site. I learned alot though, and can say I wont make that mistake again /The sites were low volume sites, used only for connecting coverage area between columbus and cincinatti, along I-71. Hence why they were microwaved instead of having dedicated t1's of their own.
  6. From my *limited* expirience, i would rather deal with nortel equipment, and their support, than lucent. When our voicemail platform's management interface took a dump during an upgrade (lucent performed it), Lucent took two weeks to get it fixed. Which customer care needed to do simple things like reset peoples password voicemail password. They did find it acceptable for us to do it manually, by finding the box that particular number could be on, out of 4 different ones. and manually changing the password by hand using console ldap management commands. So I wrote a script to make it easier for me, but it was still a pain to do this for 30-100 accounts a day. Since all of our call center was emailing me...
  7. I had the horrors of dealing with XO again today about a faulty T1 line. tickets been opened for almost 3 days, ATT tech's are apparently scared of locked gates on premises and run away in terror of seeing one. Then ATT spends a day looking for a problem on a cable run, when their problem supposedly was their tester was bad, this line doesnt have any problems! . and suddenly the T1 runs clean. Couple this with XO losing tickets and liking to wait 12 hours before they find a tech that might possibly be able to dispatch in the next few hours... But in my free time I tested other cell sites t1's and am getting ready for the big RIP project this weekend. Goodbye lucent cell sites, hellooooo Nortel.
  8. second time i played. I couldnt get back to the first main boss as the snake bug. Not sure why, i was fully evolved but couldnt find him.... when threw all the depth's a few times.
  9. I hated java, i really did. And to seal the fate of my hatred of java, my final project in school was written in java, becouse my group members didnt want to learn how to use any GUI libraries on c or c++. Then they didnt help out, and the one guy who did at least manage to make some forms in netbeans did such a bad job and didnt bother to conform to the standard naming or layout conventions, i ended up redoing it anyways. Then again, if i need to develop some GUI application fast, i would rather use java than VB, so I guess it isnt THAT bad though I think this thread is getting offtopic, at least off the correct java topic.
  10. forget Java, I wish i had some food. I keep forgetting I cant take a lunch on weekends since nobody is here to cover. Now i cant get food and am hungry
  11. I commute an hour and fifteen minutes to work almost all freeway, i cant really bike that right now. I will soon be moving closer to work, it will be a fifteen minute commute straight down the freeway, but thats becouse It is right next to the onramp. a bicycle ride to work may well be an hour or so, though half of it could be along a bike specific trail... Its possible, ill find out next spring, as its cold here and just about snow season, no way im going to do that during winter.
  12. This game is too addictive..
  13. I am up, sitting alone at work waiting for something to break. weekends are boring at my companies NOC when the weather is ok.

    Can I just say

Got my XM and love it, even though my car doesnt deserve it, a 1994 rusted tbird. I spend my morning drive on 202 (opie&andthony) and the drive home/other times bouncing between 48 for hard rock/alternative and 42 which is a metal channel. sometimes in between going to comedy channels to mix it up. I couldnt see driving the hour and 15 minutes to work each day without it now.
  19. Heh, i just bought guitar hero last night. watch out next time fatty!
  20. Good times indeed, it was great meeting you all, lets have another one of these real soon! Oh yeah, and now I think im going to buy guitar hero as well.

  22. I agree, most notibly I would like the mapcycle from before the server move. with cpl_clan_mill or whatever as well as others. Also nuke needs to go, I love it and I dont see why it kills the server but it does.
  23. Dont worry, I will be fine without beer, though this may be the first gc game I play sober. Fun will be had regardless
