  1. Cool! I'm going to use the 're-cap' joke sometime in SS.
  2. I use this same technique to look handsome. I just close my eyes and imagine Brad Pitt or Lunk. I really think it helps but sadly I look like a dork standing around with my eyes closed. Wife: You okay, honey? Me: *humming lowly* Me: "The first rule of fight club: You don't talk about fight club" Wife: What did you say? Me with eyes still closed: So am I looking especially cool and handsome? Wife: You look like a dork. Me: Let me try another one. "How the heck did he shoot me from all the way across the map?" Wife: Your dorkiness rating just went off the charts. Me: I can feel it working!
  3. cool! I love showing off some of the graphic stuff from Ubuntu to my friends. If I could get a couple of things to work in it I would never run windows.
  4. If you had the grave misfortune of playing with me, you would have know pretty quickly that I was terrible with the knife. I could never bring myself to actually pull my knife out if I got the drop on someone. I couldn't wait for the kill. Why bring a knife to a gun fight? sorta thing. But it's funny... My brother-in-law and my son are 1 and 2 on knife kills. Now I don't have any guns in my house so proficiency with a gun won't do you any good if you can't get your hands on a gun. But I DO have some knives laying around....
  5. well Nintendo cleaned house with the DS. The DS doesn't have the graphics capability of a PSP but it whomped it in sales. AND it already has the touch screen. Apple would have a hard time catching up with the established companies. You can build a machine but someone has to make the programs for it. Sony and Nintendo are well established in that area. Apple has always had the 'anti gaming' image to me. They would have to overcome that as well.
  6. Posting from it now. Gonna have to spend some time to get it all setup properly. But so far was really a breeze to setup! It said i needed 185 updates. YIKES!
  7. awesome. I might give this a try. It's easy to dual boot with a partition?
  8. Thought this would make a good discussion considering this board is here only because of violent video games. My son (11) is playing them. First of all I am not one of those people that say violent video games do no have an impact on a person. When I played CS every chance I got I could even feel it. I knew that if I EVER faced a threat and had a gun in my hand I wouldn't think before I had pointed at their head and squeezed off a couple of rounds. It would have been instinct and nothing else. I did it hundreds of times every day virtually. I also feel that violent video games can desensitize us to violence itself. Now this may have an effect on some people but not everyone. Personally I have stayed away from 'ultra' violent games like Doom. I kept it only to 'realistic' violent games like CS and Half Life. For one thing I never like the demon element as a Christian. As an adult (well adjusted I would like to think) I don't think the effect of CS will be detrimental to me. As a father who enjoys (or enjoyed) violent video games, I want to be careful what I allow my son to play. I guess I allowed my children to watch me play. And now my son is really getting into it. I limit his time on the computer (we don't have a console). Two hours everyday. I had allowed him to play bots on CS but he didn't play it a lot and I discouraged it. But because of a friend I allowed him to play on Retrocedence. And now he is becoming obsessed with it. I can relate to this. I was obsessed with it for a long time. And I have to admit that as far as gaming or a 'fun activity', nothing has ever compared to the fun I had playing the game. But it's different for a kid. I wasn't totally healthy for me but I fear it could be detrimental to a young child. I know the argument that a well adjusted young person will not go out and take guns to his school just because he played a violent video game. And I agree... I think. But an obsession like this could make a person become 'unadjusted'. Right now I limit his CS time to one hour. It's hard. Obviously he wants more. And every time he asks for it I go into this long spiel about the effect it can have on him. As a dad who understands the enjoyment of such games, I find it hard to totally take it away. As a dad who cares about the influences my son has in his life, it scares me that I allow it. I realize that popular opinion has no bearing on my decision. There is a right and there is a wrong for my son. But a discussion about this topic is beneficial to everyone involved. Is violent videogames bad for a kid? (if you don't think they have an effect then please explain why because I don't believe you) When is it appropriate for a child to play them? Is one hour of them better than three hours or does the limitation not make any difference at all. I know there are no hard and fast rules. Everyone is different. What do you think about your children playing violent video games?
  9. Yes you did. I am still on the first page and I post less than you now. O, and congratulations, Fatty. Do you ever wonder how much money you could have made or degrees you could have earned with the time you put into this? We appreciate the sacrifice!
  10. da dwEEziL! Your avatar exceeds forum guidelines.
  11. LANGUAGE WARNING NEXT TIME!
  12. I tried and tried before I realized the answer to the 16th floor. I thought for awhile that if I clicked all the triangle it would solve it. So I was madly clicking trying to get everything.
  13. Brilliant concept! I won't give it away but it is great. Just click here. If you are stuck on the 15th floor and need a hint then scroll down. There is something on the sixth floor!
  14. Thanks for the reply, Playaa! When I say vacation it's not really vacation. My work shuts down for three weeks over Christmas (Amish holidays stuff) and I really like a big book to kind of sink into. Plenty of time to 'waste'. Normally I might keep a book on my nightstand and read a little just before bed, but this is the time to read for hours straight. So it has to be gripping and yet meaty enough to keep me going for awhile. I picked up the the third book in the 'Hermux Tantamoq' series but it falls way short. My daughter had it from the library. For starters the first one was VERY inventive but sequels kind of lose that flair. And it is as gripping as a wet noodle. I just have to say for trips, the audio versions of those books are GREAT. The guy reading them is the best. But it is the furthest thing from an epic fantasy. I have heard about the Wheel of Time (even played the demo based on that series) but never tried it. I guess it doesn't have to be fantasy. I can enjoy any genre of writing as long as it is done well.
  15. I was going to read the last entry to the The Song Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin. But the library doesn't have it. And since the series will probably be done by the time I am 70, I figured it could wait. I really don't read much fantasy at all. Can anybody recommend a rich fantasy epic book or series? And if you are a fan of The Song of Ice and Fire then I can actually listen to your recommendation
  16. It is either funny or sad... but i have mature or aged to the point I don't consider myself a hardcore gamer anymore. I don't spend 10 hours a week playing games and when I do it's a strategy game or *gasp* solitaire. And I find that the Wii appeals to me greatly. It is a system that I would like for my kids. Something I can see us playing as an entire family. And that is important to me. And I am going to line my pockets by selling the one stashed in my closet. And you will neither stop me or make me feel bad.
  17. So can we debate pc and macs in here? This is just not heated enough.
  18. Maybe a botch job but they designed the system that has has sold more units than anyone else. And demand is still very strong. I wish I could botch it up like that.
  19. I think the reason this causes so much of a reaction is that it is a children's movie. Everybody is pretty careful about the messages their kids receive. As a Christian myself, I know that it concerns me. While I do not limit my kid's access/knowledge about other faiths/views, I generally like to present them with those that are compatible with mine. As their parent, that is my prerogative. Generally I will explain my beliefs to my children and explain opposing views as well. Then I will tell them why I believe the way I do. I don't see anything wrong with that. Concerning this movie, from what I have read (could be totally wrong), if they make sequels they are planning on bringing in more of the anti-religion message. I really don't know. I have not read the books. I'm sure the movie will be like Narnia. An epic movie that will never reveal it's true message. Because I am concerned about the sequels, I will not allow my kids to see this movie. Now if the sequels come out and stay true to the story but exclude the faith (or anti-faith) then we would probably watch them. I appreciate the fact that these concerns have been brought up so I can make a knowledgeable decision. I guess I would be opposed to this like I would be opposed to those children's books that promote homosexual relationships. There will be a time when they can make their own decisions. Until that I am going to shield them from some things that kids really have no business having to deal with.
  20. O man... I REALLY stink at geography. I bet my kids could do better than me.
  21. Well the wireless must not have worked. Did you go?
