  1. I had a "failure to connect" problem like what you described. The recommended fix is to delete the steambrowser.dll file from your bin folder. When you restart Steam it will regenerate the file and you should be good to go. That or a firewall problem. That's creeped up on me when the wife starts clickity clickin'.
  2. If only you planned the wedding next week, we could have saved you!! j/k. Congrats! When are you coming up?
  3. Sweet monkey dumplings!! Ever play CS with bifocals??
  4. After reading the thread about someone running Vista with high CPU usage, I checked my system stats and noticed I'm running in 32 bit. Any reason I can't run 64? If not, how do I change it?
  5. Have an admin lift the restriction for a while. Shaft, if you don't mind would you post how to lift the restriction in the admin forums so all admins can lift it? Thanks.
  6. Since we're all older and semi-responsible (jay walkers excluded), it would work. However, we all know the server population won't follow the logic of this thread. The whining would be up exponentially. Hell, when's the last time you DIDN'T send a dig back to an auto-noob? It will disrupt the server, no doubt. Equally though, that's why we have admins. I'm for it.
  7. yup. In two money leagues. yards are 1 pt per 25yds passing, 1 per 10 rushing.
  8. I drafted #1, #1 and #2 in leagues this year. Not bad!! In a particular league: TDs are 6 (not 3) Completions are 0.5pts 1 pt per 25 yds For the record, I've never taken a QB in round 1, ever. EVER! This goes against every ounce of logic in my skull. Unfortunately, when I crunch the #s for this particular league, Brady is #1 by a huge margin. But... Tomlinson is clearly the #1 pick in every fantasy site out there and my mock drafts show I'm better off drafting Tomlinson. However... this league has some idiots who'll draft D. Anderson or some other stiff which means I could still grab a solid RB if I take a QB in round 1. Suggestions (from anyone other than SJ)?
  9. If I could get enough Mmmm's off the couch, we could scrim! Dunno if we have a T1 into the nursing home though...

    ...and again

Discon your battery and connect a hot 110 to your car door!
  11. Out of the blue, Mo gives up smoking.
  12. <dusts off stalker gear> Anyone know where I can get that shiny aluminum duct tape? Anyone??
  13. If he feels he needs religion in his life, I believe that to be what I call 'the calling'. I think we can all relate to a moment in life where Christ is knocking and you feeling "something"; a thirst for peace, stability and understanding in your mind and in your life. I'm curious as to his skepticism of the Bible. Gently press as to the reasons why. Once you get the reasons down on paper, don't push to explain the possible errors in his thought process, rather, let him know that the answers are in the Book. Let him find out for himself, but offer to help if he needs it. I'm no counselor, but of the few I've asked, most are afraid of the stigma of being a Jesus freak. Others relate to bad experiences they had when they were younger and forced to go to church against their will. Still others don't like to have to "pay into the conspiracy". Regardless, the answers are there, he just needs to read. Like Rev, Aug, Fat and others, I'd have him start with John and start reading. No church, no pressure. Just read it at his leisure. Offer to go out to a coffee bar or something and offer your ear to answer any questions. Continue to be available to spend time with him. Offer to take him to your church when he's ready and maybe even help him find a church he likes by hitting a few other churches in the area. Show him that there different ways to worship, but the key is the personal relationship he has with Christ...not the church. You are ministering to me and others Playaa. I'm happy you are taking someone less fortunate under your wing and rebuilding a broken man. Have him sign up in the forums and ask us his questions if he's up to it. I know everyone here would help support you and Joe. Grace be with you guys.
  14. I was just complaining that I hadn't eaten since 7 a.m. and I'm stopping all operations until I eat. I thought I'd read the forums while I ate. Hunger seems trivial when you see someone truly suffering. I will pray for Joe.
  15. Im in. Mookie sucks. That is all.
  16. And I just posted somewhere about you growing up, learning stuff and gaining wisdom. Damn kids...
  17. I was just asking my neighbor about this topic. I'm an idiot when it comes to guns and he's ex SEAL&CIA. He used to teach classes to high ranking officers and congressional staff on home safety and defense so who better to ask. He leaves his loaded .357 revolver on the nightstand every night and puts it away every morning. (Kinda creepy, actually). Summarizing his statements: 1) He prefers snub nosed revolvers as they, "can sit in a dresser for 20 years and I know it'll fire when I pull the trigger. Because the barrel is shortened, it's ideal for moving room to room". Disadvantage- no convenient safety mechanisms if there are children around. 2) .357s and .45 semi/autos are his next choice for, "knocking someone down in a hurry". Advantage: Safety switches and the availability of smart grips. Disadvantage: must clean regularly and although a 99% chance it'll fire if it sits for a couple years in a dresser drawer, he doesn't like a 1% chance it won't. "Chances are the bad guy won't wait if you ask him for 5 minutes to clean said weapon". He says each has their own preference; his is H&K? Can't confirm that... 3) 9 mms. His least favorite. Standard round has a much higher velocity and tends to go through said bad guy, and the next wall, and the next wall, etc. Not good if you have family members on the same floor. Same advantages and disadvantages of #2 His recommendation for homes with children- 9mm with (correct me if I'm wrong) silver tipped, hollow point rounds? I know the hollow point part sounds right. Silver tipped sounds kinda vampirish. I know you military guys can clarify that too. No kids? Revolvers all the way. He did say there's a direct relation between damage to said bad guy and your eardrums. Also, security systems. His prefereces: #1 dog #2 Contact point security system on all windows and doors and master control is in the bedroom. However, DON'T pay for the service and don't put the sign out front. When I asked why the hell not he said, "you can hear the audible beeps from master control and call 911 faster than the security company can. You also get the chance to shoot someone." I can't say I agree with him on not using the service and wanting to shoot someone... but I'm not Rambo, like him. Nothing like sitting with a vet SEAL/CIA guy and listening to all his stories. Amazing stuff.
  18. I can't believe it. Stutters has grown up and *gasp* learned a few things. I had you pegged for a mac 'n cheese souffle kinda guy. Impressive. We use "cat's arse" around here. As in "wow, cool!", not as in recipe ingredient...
  19. Thank you for cutting through all the drama and getting straight to it. I'll kindly revoke your status. I wish you well.
  20. It's been a while because we banned you from the forums and servers. You were making 30+ senseless posts a day. I'm checking your post count now... *edit From 3:46pm yesterday until just past 12 midnight you made 35 posts. Most had little to no content, which is why you were removed from our forums in the past. Why is this time any different? Tell me why we shouldn't remove you now and get this over with? (PM referencing this thread sent)
  21. States of Sobriety, last I saw.
  22. And they say this place has no love. It has all the sunshine you could ever want! Thanks!
