  1. See screenshots here: http://halflife2.filefront.com/screenshots/File/46266/ Download Here
  2. I got to the point where Dog brings out his stupid ball to throw at me violently, and he tosses something toward Alyx and guess what happens? She gets stuck in it preventing me from progressing... I hate that thing. Stupidness
  3. Eclipse has a RPG feel to it and is pretty cool...plus throwing rocks is fun! You can find Eclipse here.
  4. Apparently it is pretty good. I haven't tried it though. Check it out and report back here. http://ludus1942.ngi.it/downloads.html
  5. "finished half 2 but looking for more single player action? das roboss is a whole new single player scenario in which gordon must infiltrate a top secret combine facility and prevent them from unleashing a heavily armed 80 ft tall robot death machine (it's german, for some reason) into the world. as you make your way through, youll encounter every flavor of enmey HL2 has to offer. keep in mind: the author set out to make a challenging set of missions, so if you dont want to be frustrated, make sure you lower the difficulty level." pc gamer HERE
  6. http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=58579 "[Aftermath] deals with the events and issues set in motion during Half-Life 2. You've done critical damage to the Citadel. The whole place is going to go up, taking out City 17 and what's in its immediate radius. You and Alyx are leading the flight from the city getting up close and personal with some of the creatures and sights from the end of the game."
  7. And i bought/downloaded cs silver tonight, I finally get it ready to play, load it up, see the valve guy, and it goes to loading and just sits there indefinitely! I know my system is powerful enough to run it and I dled the newest nvidia drivers for my geforced 6660 gt earlier in the day, but still no dice. I have been working with hardware/software to get this computer running for the last several days and my usual great patience is wearing thin. I may be over stressing but I really really want this to work. Any help you can provide is much appreciated. Specs are as Follows: Amd 64 3000 939 Socket 6600 gt pci-e 1 gig corsair 3200 WD 80 gig 7200 dfi nforce 4 lan party 939 socket dvd rw AOpen combo drive
  8. Yes I am still a lowly teenager, I do have a very steady job and cash flow, yet refuse to get a credit card. My new pc is going up this weekend and Im so getting hl2, can you buy the silver version so I can get dod: source? I really dont want to buy the 80 dollar limited edition.
  9. Is there a way to play HL2 while your net is down or you are not connected to the internet? I just bought it over here in Okinawa and the internet sucks. Any suggestions on how or if it can be done?
  10. http://www.g4techtv.com/ they have a clip of what it does, right side halfway down
  11. Wow, i got it on xmas and had the week off.. I just now beat it, and i played it for at least an hr a day since i got it.. The game was incredible ALL of it, the sounds the lighting the physics the graphics all of it incredible.. I kept stopping to squat down and look at the brain crabs, when you hit them with your crowbar they look real!! Its like your hitting a big thing of jelly.. Then the harder crabs had hair and it looked real too.. But things like the shinyness of the floors and walls, and how crisp the graphics are really make this game superb.. I played it on medium or normal difficulty, and im gonna play it on a harder setting now.. A few big moments in the game that i just loved were: The huge chiminey falling down in the water was cool, the sounds when your going through the mines in the water blew me away, The suprise and confusion i had when those electro ball mines come twards you when your in the buggy.. Oh and when you throw the balls over into the water, the sound they make as well.. The sounds the flying machines and those tall 3 legged things make when you kill them sounds like the t-rex in jurassic park.. I can go on and on.. OK the ending, what the GMan says reminds me of the Elric books by Michael Moorcock and all his other books (all his books are about the same person reincarnated as different people, where ever he's needed).. Like the Eternal Champion.. Except Elric is controlled by the Cosmic Balance, not a dude like GMan.. So was it all real or just a VR simulation for Gordon??
  12. It would be nice to play some public made single player mission like in FarCry or Jedi Knight.. I dont think there were ever any single player missions for HL were there??
  13. Why wasn't Blue Shift included in the Silver and Gold Edition packages of Half Life 2? Opposing Force and all other Half Life-related games were in it, but not Blue Shift. The packages may have already been a good deal, but if you're going to give the rest of the series, why not take out a different game and have all of them. Now I have to buy Blue Shift separately. Any ideas why it wasn't?
  14. Ive been at the single player all day today and it rocks!! The graphics blow me away.. But im getting a little sick of all the loading..
  15. SPAM. \ *** POSSIBLE SPOILER BELOW*** I just got the game a week ago, but Ive only had about an hour to play it so far Anyhow, last night, I was in the train station at the beginning and I wasted about 15 minutes throwing cans at the guards and running around. I would run into the line for food and jump over the railing and the guard would have to run through the maze and stuff, it was fun Im amazed at how interactive (the details) the environment is in this game.
  16. How many have already played HL? If so...did you play it again before HL2?? I am considering it, but will probably be too impatient. I do remember LOVING HL though...and its been about 10 years, so I might just do that. If I dont...can anyone link me to the storyline for the original HL? Edit: btw, I have one word for Fattness. NIHILANTH!
  17. VERY IMPORTANT WARNING! HL/HL2 SPOILERS ARE IN THIS THREAD! PLEASE DO NOT READ UNTIL YOU'VE BEATEN THE GAMES. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Okay now that the warning is out of the way, I hope nobody has posted this before, I apologize if so, but I've talked to a friend and these things are starting to bug me. HL2 left us with so many questions and no answers. So I decided to come up with points to discuss. Also, feel free to post your own. Fig. #1: Freeman's "contract" payment. It seems like something is starting to make sense. I highly doubt G-Man is selling Freeman's services out for cash. Why would somebody that can control space and time need money? Possible Explanations: ° Freeman is just a pawn in a game. The organization G-Man works for just puts Freeman in these situations to see how strong he is, and what he can change. ° The organization G-Man works for takes something more valuable than cash for services. Like another life for example (Like Alyx). ° One zany theory we came up with was the Barney/G-Man theory. From what I heard I don't think Barney directly acknowledges G-Man in either HL or HL2. How could somebody live through the Black Mesa incident, become undercover with the combines, miss his beating quotas, and cut out on shifts without them knowing. The combine seems like a very organized force. They would notice Barney's flaws in a heartbeat. Either Barney is G-Man, or Barney works with G-Man. Fig. #2: City 17 and the Combine. Even though Xen was under control at the end of HL, doesn't mean that Earth was safe. Also, How did somebody on the head of Black Mesa strike a deal with an overpowering alien force to be able to govern a city of humans? Possible Explanations: ° Somebody wanted Freeman to open that portal. (G-Man for example. You were already working for him at the beginning of HL, but you didn't know. If the Combine were the evil alien force that possibly used this portal to attack Earth, they probably paid G-Man) ° The man leading City 17 struck a deal with the Combine as they invaded Black Mesa. But he too thought you died in the Black Mesa incident, because after all, they paid to keep you down. Fig. #3: The Environmental Suit. Your environmental suit makes a strange reappearance in HL2. The last person to see you wear it was G-Man. How did one's suit get from G-Man to a scientist so he could upgrade it? Possible Explanations: ° Again the Barney/G-Man theory is a possible here. ° The people that bought your contract were in that circle of people you helped. Apparently the Combine couldn't make their end of the deal and somebody bought out your contract to save them. Which explains why everybody was surprised to see you alive. Fig. #4: Freeman: The Living Dead? Everybody is shocked to see you. You went missing and you were presumed dead. So how does Barney know to pick you off at the security check point? Nobody knew you were on that train. Possible Explanations: ° Barney/G-man once again can work here. ° The Combine didn't pay their payment, and they thought they got G-Man off their back. They had not even the slightest clue you'd ever come back into the picture. That explains why the second time you teleport into City 17's citadel the Doctor is talking to the leader of these "Combine" saying he thought he just saw you. ° Of course, there can be dumb luck, but that just doesn't work in a high-profile story like this. Fig. #5: The G-Man. The basic question that haunts us all. Who the heck is G-Man? And What Is He Doing? Possible Explanations: ° As stated earlier, He could be Barney in his "human" form. ° G-Man and the Orgianiztion are placing Freeman in this to see how he can handle these problems. (Like the one spiderman episode where the Beyonder get's all the people from earth and sets them to take over another planet) ° G-Man is some sort of Alien, with a Human form, He can choose who seems him, and he can choose who remembers him. Fig. #6: The Cat and Lamar [HL2 Plothole] What is this cat Barney and the scientist are talking about? And how in the heck did Lamar get back to the lab? (More like a plothole) Possible Explanations: ° Barney keeps hearing this cat, I don't recall seeing a mutated or ghost cat anywhere. ° How does a cat survive in City 17? There isn't any good places for those things to live. ° Lamar, Didn't that alien facehugger jump out of the teleporter? He sure as heck wasn't back in the lab after your first jump. He ran out into the deserted land place. How did he get back when you and Alyx escpaed the Combines? Summary: My Main Theory Black Mesa; G-Man already has you "hired", and aliens buy out your services. You may have stopped once alien race attack, but you leave the portal wide open. That's because you were hired to do so. The air raid of Black Mesa and the total destruction of it put a good set of clues to presume Gordon Freeman dead. These Combine paid something in return to keep you out of the picture, but somebody out there had a better offer and got you back in. The Combine had no idea you would show up, thinking they had you "terminated". I imagine G-Man wouldn't call them up saying your deal is off, Freeman is with the rebels now. So basically you catch them by surprise, and end up fighting the Combine off and causing a huge explosion on the citadel. Alyx might have been the price the rebels paid to get you in. Although I can't really think of explanation beyond that the organization probably wouldn't accept money for offers. (Or like another of the mini theories that "Freeman is just a pawn in a game. The organization G-Man works for just puts Freeman in these situations to see how strong he is, and what he can change.") Credit: Me [CUatTHEFINISH / ((Shockwave))], and Traiklin More coming soon, I'm still reading through my convo with this guy. And feel free to post your own thoughts, and if this thread is too much or if it has been posted before, please feel free to delete. Thanks. Last Updated: 12/17/04 @ 11:06pm ET
  18. Does anyone else use the quicksave? I do. I know I suck as CS so what makes you think I wouldnt : ) I'm going to play it again but NEVER use quicksave and only use autosave I don't think I'll make it to the end cause I'll end up at some point with like 3 hp and then I'll never get past the next sequence. but it will be fun and frikin this game was a no contest the best game to date. Except for Atari 2600 kaboom where the robber goes back and forth accross the screen droppin bombs and you got 3 buckets to catch em or KABOOM!!! Auggy
  19. I've been working on a map of my house for HL2, and I just recently learned how to create a cannister that simulates being full of an explosive gas thats zips around with the gas shooting out of it. Well once this cannister was accidentally dropped into my chimney, a whole new area of screwing around in hl2dm was born. I'm not sure if anyone else and done this before, but it cracked me up. We seriously did this for hours. Had to load cannister into the top of the chimney. Then we had to straighten it out from the fireplace entrance to the chimney so that it was in the center of it and facing straight up. Then we had to load a table or refrigerator door ontop of the chimney to prevent it from killing us on impact. Whoever was riding it got on the table while the other sat outside where the cannister could be shot from and launch viewed from the same spot. It was fun as crap! Rhah being launched: Me being launched: Now I'm trying to figure out how to make it respawn so I don't have to restart the map everytime we want to do a launch.

  21. mapcycle updated at bottom of thread Over at steampowered they've pinned a thread which seems to be a continually updated list of some 3rd party maps: check it out. I've looked at a few, played some today...several had only 1 spawn point, and let me tell you, that's a mess! If you've played some cool 3rd parties on other servers, tell us what they are! Right now, the mapcycle on Project Mayhem is: dm_lockdown dm_killbox_beta3 dm_garage dm_rally_b2 bounce If any of these become a permanent part of our mapcycle, we'll make them available for download from the server. However, it's not too bad of a d/l anyways for any one map...bounce is the biggest weighing in at 7mb + other files (btw, you might as well grab them from the link above while you're cruisin the forums) Killbox is just hilarious fun. Bounce was a classic. Garage has some serious car crushing opportunities! Some other minor changes: Fraglimit lowered to 125 from 150. Timelimit lowered to 25 from 30.
  22. http://members.shaw.ca/storage_4/hl2story/ interesting stuff. Of course spoilers included.
  23. I never finished HL1. Max Payne was sweet...didn't finish. I praised CoD to all, and it was incredible...never finished it. Every moment that I play HL2 is a wonderful experience, yet I'm 1/2way done, and, erm, not sure. Myth, you pick the version, Command and Conquer, had em all, name some more, what's the last really SWEET space one, with all the complicated navigational views, etc..heck, now that I think of it, I'm not sure I completed Doom2, flying games, a few.....played em, enjoyed em, but guess what...never finished em. I'm not sure why that is....perhaps because I can't spend more than chops of time...and, when I consider that time, my draw to my PC is the interaction, the community. For some reason I'm drawn more to a circus act on dust as Terrorists more than continuing HL2. I spend my time mending loose ends here and there throughout GC, then cash in on some MP with people I can laugh with and at.... Oh well. Maybe someday I'll finish some SP game! Give me a quality multiplayer version of these games? I'm IN! Doom2 had coop! That was fun. Coop HL2 would also be great fun....maybe someone will mod it.
  24. Looking for some guidance on the use of SDK. Whose used it? And how do you go about using it?
