Watchtower May 30, 2004 Share Watchtower Member May 30, 2004 Any lyric for whatever reason hit you hard? A short time after 9/11, during a pretty deep Hendrix kick, this lyric from "Power of Soul" hit home for some reason SHOOT DOWN SOME OF THOSE AIRPLANES YOUR FLYIN' ESPECIALLY THE ONES THAT ARE FLYIN' TOO LOW SHOOT DOWN SOME OF THOSE AIRPLANES ESPECIALLY THE ONES THAT ARE FLYIN' TOO LOW Kinda how the song starts off before the verses and that.. Great song b.t.w. if you like the blues. Hendrix Was the blues.
appalachian_fox May 30, 2004 Share appalachian_fox Member May 30, 2004 Being a New York native transplanted south, most of the songs on Springsteen's The Rising album are strong, though for anybody who's lost a loved one some of these songs can really speak out. Powerful good.
Watchtower May 30, 2004 Author Share Watchtower Member May 30, 2004 Quote the lyric you are talking about.. Maybe it sends a message or uncovers a truth to you in a different way you've never thought about.. Lyrics that make you think I guess..
Jiffy May 31, 2004 Share Jiffy Member May 31, 2004 my sig, damn good song. Lyrical driven music is what makes it great. Music can be good, but without strong words to back it up, it is only senseless sound.

CowboyFromHell`X May 31, 2004 Share CowboyFromHell`X Member May 31, 2004 (edited) These stand for meName your god and bleed the freak I like to see How you all would bleed for me A good song is Alice In Chains' "Bleed the Freak." Pretty good lyrics but I just love the song, heard it from the live CD. Listen to it if you like Chains. Changed the song from "God Am" to this. Jiffy May 31, 2004 Share Jiffy Member May 31, 2004 SR-71, politically correct. yea, chains is good stuff. Metallica wrote "ONE" based off of a book, i cant recall the title, but the image it gave was horrific. "Darkness Imprisoning me All that I see Absolute horror I cannot live I cannot die Trapped in myself Body my holding cell Landmine has taken my sight Taken my speech Taken my hearing Taken my arms Taken my legs Taken my soul Left me with life in hell" horrors of war
dwEEziL May 31, 2004 Share dwEEziL Member May 31, 2004 Wasn't it based of an old black-and-white movie and not a book?
Jiffy May 31, 2004 Share Jiffy Member May 31, 2004 maybe both, but i know there is a book, my friend has it and is a die hard metallica fan.

Guest Orbital June 4, 2004 Share Guest Orbital Guests June 4, 2004 'All around me are familiar faces Worn out places, worn out faces Bright and early for their daily races Going nowhere, going nowhere And their tears are filling up their glasses No expression, no expression Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow No tomorrow, no tomorrow And I find it kind of funny I find it kind of sad The dreams in which I'm dying Are the best I've ever had I find it hard to tell you 'Cos I find it hard to take When people run in circles It's a very, very Mad World Children waiting for the day they feel good Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday Made to feel the way that every child should Sit and listen, sit and listen Went to school and I was very nervous No one knew me, no one knew me Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson Look right through me, look right through me" Tears for Fears - Mad World :\ Sad song -- always made me remember how cold the world can be sometimes, I always remembered the good aspects of my life -- and how I could appreciate them even more, since I knew the darkness of the world was there too.
