The processor is new, the clawhammers are baised on older fab scale. venice is the latest, but not the fastest. near the end of the summer there will be amd dual cores. which if you dont build your system untill then is the way to go.

Well, this system is definitely cheaper than having it built by a large company (Gateway, Dell, etc).

...the shotgunned videocards would be crazy hawt, tho. When I build my system (3-4q 2005), I *might* go that route.

if you're going for max price then the fx55 is the only way to go... unless you can find an fx57.

my only questions are the cheap steel case and the silverstone psu. why not go with a pcp&c psu? there's an 850w sli one that is just mammoth. i have the 510w deluxe sli and it's plenty for any system i've seen.

oh yea, get the ocz vx ram. 2-2-2-5 timings at 250+ fsb. your board is the only mobo capable of putting out the necessary voltage. the ram you've chosen is OLD ram. there's much better stuff out now.

Note I pulled this out of.... When acually desiging a building a system you would usualy read reviews on the hardware that you would put into the systems. I put this toghther in about 5 min. all parts were from newegg...

yes fx55 or 57 would be nice to have but they are an older architecture and their memory controler is second rate. That is why i chose the venice core processor.

To each his own, but there's no way you get $1000 worth of video performance out of that sli stuff. Maybe check into the possibility of the x800xls. At least they are each $200 cheaper.

The 3500 makes sense if you are planning on upgrading to dual core. Save on the cpu now...

As for that heatsink.... it looks like a monster. Be real sure it will work first. The RAM slots on your board are real close to the cpu. Some people have mentioned difficulties with some of the big Zalman heatsinks being too big and making RAM installation or removal impossible.

The board is awesome. I have the non-sli version and love it (except for issues with the nforce4 built in firewall, which is a nightmare. hopefully, nvidia will have it working soon though).

I'd suggest posting these specs on the dfi-street forums. THey are awesome forums, with a couple DFI employees whose job is to patrol the boards.

Dont waste your money on all that dude.

1. Why are you getting 3 hard drives? 2 the same and 1 different. ODD.

2. DO NOT DO SLI, what's the point to get an extra 40 fps in CS:S (lame)

3. Replace either a hard drive or a video card with another gig of ram

4. WATER COOL THAT *bleep*

5. Get a better case. Lain-Li is great for keeping system cool.

6. With that saved $ from the hard drive and/or video card, get a nice 6ms 19" flat screen :)

well 1, the raptors in raid 0 for system disk, the other is for music and storage :P

2. 40fps is 40fps

3. just and another gig, dont cost that much

4. if you want to take the time, i just did water cooling and unless you want quiet or overclock waste of time

5. better case, I have one of those, i use it as a stool. strong with great hd cooling. lain-li= OVERPRICED TO THE MAX=RIP OFF

6. Monitor not included

IT fits, I have one, and it does clear ram as long as the ram is not super tall.

www.dfi-street.com is a sweet website, great place for help.

Current SLI mobos don't supposrt dual ATI cards. Gotta wait until they come out with the ATI based SLI's to do that. You can put an ATI card in, but only one.

2. 40fps is 40fps - Not really when you are already getting 150+ already. but then again i guess if you have the money why not. just seems like a waste to me at the current time in technology w/ games and driver coding.

4. if you want to take the time, i just did water cooling and unless you want quiet or overclock waste of time - it's not all about quiet / cool, it's about looks too, add some florecent die in there and a black light.. it'd be pimpin since pimpin' since pimpinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

the fx57 IS NOT based on the older architecture. it's a san diego(venice with 1mb l2). the fx55 is also the cream of the crop and the new ones have the dsl technology. all they're missing is sse3 and the advanced mem controller. sse3 is useless as of now and the advanced mem controller translates into less than 2% gain.

why do you make a comment about the memory controller when you're not planning on overclocking? afaik that's the only reason to be worried about a memory controller...

at least go for the 4000+ which is 2.4ghz and has 1mb l2 cache. those are available just as much as the 3500s are. same with the 3500 though make sure you get the new core.

Lots of wasted money in that setup. I can get close to the same performance at a fraction of the cost. Probably build two or more of them for that price. And I would defintely have 2 gigs instead of 1.

Raid setup wont makes your games run better, maybe load times, but no more FPS.

A 90 dollar DVD bruner wont help you out any in games

a 650 WATT PSU is more than enough

You dont need a 70 dollar heatsink. I can OC a 2.6 to 3.2 on a decent air cooler for less than half that cost.

I havent done much research, but for that price, why not get a dual opteron setup? 2 CPU > 1.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'd love to see what kind of system you could put together with the same performance, no overclocking, for a fraction of the cost.

...I'm having a hard time writing that w/o it sounding sarcastic. I'm serious, though. It'd be great to see a sweet setup like that.

it's not possible. overclocking is the key to getting value for your money. if you aren't going to overclock then you'll have to spend a lot to get an awesome system.
