Sir Shertown Pimp September 20, 2005 Share Sir Shertown Pimp Member September 20, 2005 I got a new virus through AOL instant messenger and infected about 30 people as it automatically messages everyone on my buddy list, I'm fairly computer savvy and got rid of it with registry mechanic instantly but now everytime I sign on whiny girls message me about it, should I just ignore their comments or help every last one of them ? Just keep in mind that for every person you IM, you are IMing every other person they have IMed. As for helping them out, type up how to fix it on a word.doc and then just cut and paste every time you get asked. Or just send the word.doc
Preacher September 20, 2005 Share Preacher Member September 20, 2005 also quit using that stupid IM client and go with a third party client like trillian. Like Firefox, trillian doesn't integrate into windows like aim or msn IMs

Preacher September 20, 2005 Share Preacher Member September 20, 2005 (edited) Well the easy way would be a complete fresh install. The hard way: 1. Run http://ftp.isu.edu.tw/pub/Windows/Edskes/a/aawsepro.exe 2. Run http://users.belgacom.net/bn846168/Spybot/spybotsd14.exe 3. Update all windows stuff at the MS Update site (open internet explorer/click Tools/windows Update) 4. Uninstall AIM,MSN, YIM and any other potential spyware programs. Trillian replaces all of them. And use Firefox instead of IE to avoid other future issues. 5. Go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ run both the CW shredder and the virus scanner (make sure to use internet explorer) 6. rerun all of the above and make sure to delete all and set the Immunize button on spybot.
