Preacher January 25, 2006 Share Preacher Member January 25, 2006 lol Anon that reminds me of the old Gateway commercials with the guy buying the new X3000 PC and on his way home they change the billboard to read the new X4000.

Vovik January 26, 2006 Share Vovik Member January 26, 2006 It's only 16 pipelines and only slightly faster than 1800xt. I guess they referred to 48 pipelines cause there are 3 new versions of 1900.... lol, i just checked it out again and now the headline reads "ATI's Radeon X1900 Heats Up With 48 Shader Units" instead of pipelines...I guess their article was too misleading
wayfarer January 26, 2006 Author Share wayfarer Member January 26, 2006 Not sure which article your reading Vovik, 4 x 12 is 48 last I checked The addition of 60 million more transistors brings the pixel pipeline total count to 48, or using the term that the industry is quickly changing to, 48 pixel processors. All they did is, how THG refers to it "48 pixel processors." Which they later changed the article name from 48 pixel pipelines to 48 pixel shaders....someeone more tech-knowledgeable should comment... wayfarer January 26, 2006 Author Share wayfarer Member January 26, 2006 I don't see why we need someeone more "tech-knowledgeable" to comment here. It's in plain english. The industry is changing the term "pixel pipelines" to "pixel processors" And there's 48 of them. Grouped in four's called "quads" R520 = X1800 = 32 pixel "pipelines" R580 = X1900 = 48 pixel "pipelines"

wayfarer January 26, 2006 Author Share wayfarer Member January 26, 2006 Actually upon futher reading into the X1800 there is only 16 pipelines & your right the X 1900 should be quite a bit faster than the X 1800 Where's Cujo when you need him? anonymo January 26, 2006 Share anonymo Member January 26, 2006 Considering it's only about $100 more than the x1800...I'd have to side with teh vov on this one in the end...
wayfarer January 26, 2006 Author Share wayfarer Member January 26, 2006 According to THG it's 48 pixel pipelines. Dunno.
ebits January 26, 2006 Share ebits Member January 26, 2006 Geez, and I thought the ATI x850 xt that I have was awesome. Seems that video cards are quickly being somewhat outdated the moment you buy it. heh The x1900 is hot but I don't think I'll let it burn a hole in my wallet.
